Race 1. (11:50) Midway (Bm72) 1400m
5 Bellenth (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks to have returned well for Kim Waugh and like him up to 1400m after a first up win over 1250m at Newcastle. He wasn’t 100% happy on the wet track but credit to him, he found under pressure to fend them off and get the job done. Progressive, heading in the right direction, he can win.
7 Otono (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Kerry Parker trained mare that resumes. She is first up, having not raced since March 14 over the mile at Kembla, getting better as the race went on to win well. Might be better suited over a bit further but fresh at 1400m signals intent.
2 Gently Rolled (Bet Now: $SP.00) is very dangerous back to Midway grade. She ran several weeks back at Rosehill in a solid Mares race and was far from disgraced in defeat behind Pippie Beach. Much better suited here, she’s dangerous.
Race 2. (12:25) Tab Highway Hcp (C3) 1200m
6 Cambar (Bet Now: $SP.00) has to be given another look for Gary Colvin. Plain to the eye when resuming at Warwick Farm but that track was far too testing and he struggled in the conditions. Firmer footing I like and he had trialled like an absolute rocket leading in so he gets another chance for me.
1 Highway Strip (Bet Now: $SP.00) has the engine under the hood to take this out. He arguably wins if he does everything right last start but once again, his compass was off on the turn but balanced up and was strong to the line in defeat behind Shropshire Lad. If he puts it together, he can win for sure.
7 Light Infantry (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a hard horse to trust but his best is good enough to be dangerous. Forget his run behind Kranich a few weeks back in the Highway here. He struggled on the bog and was never really a factor. 1200m should be okay, I am not dismissing him.
Race 3. (13:00) Precise Air (Bm78) 1100m
If she runs up to the trials, good luck beating 10 Spirit Of Wealth (Bet Now: $SP.00). Michael Freedman trained mare that is first up after a three run Spring prep where she won her first two (disqualified in the second win) before being heavily backed in the Roman Consul but lost a plate in the run and tired late behind Switzerland. Trial work…has been electric. She wins if she brings her best.
9 Chidiac (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a mare with an engine under the hood for Brett Cavanough. She gave them a start and a beating to win at Scone last time, winning by a space and ran good time. Tick over trial was quite strong and gets in very well after the claim.
2 Kimberley Secrets (Bet Now: $SP.00) can put her hand up for The Kosciuszko with a forward showing here. Led throughout and was too good for them fresh at Warwick Farm, giving nothing else a look in and was impressive. She’ll run a positive race I am sure.
Race 4. (13:35) City Tattersalls Club Cup 2400m
1 Changingoftheguard (Bet Now: $SP.00) is five weeks between runs for Kris Lees since racing at Flemington where the stop/start set up wasn’t to his liking but he stayed on and was pretty good in defeat behind Bold Soul. Strikes a winnable race ao I say he’s hard to beat.
8 Travolta (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a horse heading in the right direction after a win last Saturday where he got a decent ride by Grima and the gelding was strong to the line. Like him up to 2400m, weight relief and the race as a whole isn’t overly deep.
5 Tajanis (Bet Now: $SP.00) has a good record at 2400m+ and can run a much improved race at odds. He ran down the track in the Premiers Cup and just struggled on the bog behind Nellie Leylax. The rise to 2400m and firmer footing are the two big ticks to say he can bounce back.
Race 5. (14:10) Fitzgerald Jenkins Recruitment (Bm94) 1600m
6 State Of America (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1600m after resuming over 1400m three weeks back at Rosehill. The market said he’d need the run and that’s how it panned out when down the track behind War Eternal, who ran very well in the Winx Stakes. Form reads well, he’s a definite improver.
7 Time Quest (Bet Now: $SP.00) is several weeks between runs for Matty Smith since making it two wins on the bounce in the Coffs Harbour Cup, giving them a start and a beating. Trial last week was quite good, he’s found winning form and strikes a winnable race.
4 Highlights (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an improver for Bjorn Baker. He sat on speed a few weeks back at Rosehill and on the testing track, he couldn’t pick his feet up late in the piece behind War Eternal. Firmer deck, his best is more than good enough to threaten.
Race 6. (14:45) Furious Stakes 1200m
1 Within The Law (Bet Now: $SP.00) is hard to beat off her return two weeks ago in the Silver Shadow, sitting off speed before angling clear and was good late when second to the race fit Savvy Hallie. Better for the run, firmer footing helps her cause…like her here.
16 Apocalyptic (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. She resumes for Michael Freedman, having not raced since her debut here back on Dec 28 where IMO, she wins with clear air instead of a narrow second to Gallo Nero. I thought she’d be a Slipper horse after that but she was spelled. Come back and her trial work has been electric. Keen to see how she goes.
4 Memo (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Peter Snowden trained filly that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since the Percy Sykes where she looked a tired horse and didn’t really get involved behind Tempted. Looks to have trialled up very well for the return and should be strong late.
Race 7. (15:20) Chelmsford Stakes 1600m
2 Ceolwulf… (Bet Now: $SP.00) I’ve said my piece re ride in the Winx Stakes. I think he fights the finish out if he holds the back of Via Sistina. He ran enormous against the pattern and there is no horse of that quality here. Just needs a good steer from Chad and he’ll be winning this.
4 Lindermann (Bet Now: $SP.00) will love getting to firmer footing. Track was too wet for him in the Winx Stakes and his wheels were spinning when asked for the effort. I thought he had trialled up like a rocket leading in so back on top of the ground, he’s a definite improver.
There looks to be intent with 3 Vauban (Bet Now: $SP.00) to have him forward in condition. He resumes for GaiBott, having not raced since the Queen Elizabeth when down the track but far from disgraced in defeat behind Via Sistina. Trials have been quite good and first up last prep, he was scintillating in the Sky High.
Race 8. (15:55) Concorde Stakes 1000m
4 Lady Shenandoah (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a class mare for Chris Waller that resumes. She has the runs on the board but it’ll be fascinating to see how she goes as a sprinter, especially fresh at 1000m. But, her trial work to get ready has been very sharp, she’ll be strong late and is a winner.
5 Headwall (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks to be humming for his return but unfortunately for his fans, he has found such a hot, hot race to resume in. He resumes, having not raced since The Quokka when runnung out of his skin when second to Jokers Grin. He generally goes well fresh and has trialled sharply for the return. Watch betting.
6 Ostraka (Bet Now: $SP.00) has been a hard horse to follow for Team Archibald, especially last prep, but I am convinved he is a dry track horse and he’ll get conditions to suit. Trucked in the trial at Hawkesbury and with a stack of speed engaged here, I assume, he’ll be strong late.
Race 9. (16:35) Tramway Stakes 1400m
He’s a nightmare 15 Swiftfalcon (Bet Now: $SP.00) for Team Hawkes…but gee he looks to have trialled up enormous for his return and I think being trained as a miler, he can be quite effective this Spring, starting here. Hopefully can take up a spot, be effective late and make a statement.
5 Private Eye (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a class animal and got the job done first up in the PB Lawrence. I will say he did get complete control in front and it pretty much turned out to be a barrier trial. Drawn wide, but should press forward and is very well in at the weights.
13 Waterford (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Chris Waller trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since June 14 when fourth in the Wayne Wilson at Eagle Farm behind Pier, who I think is a Group l winner of the future. Trial work leading in has been solid, he flies fresh…watch betting.
Race 10. (17:10) Njt Cliff Clare Memorial (Bm78) 1200m
10 Dominetta (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a GaiBott trained mare that resumes. She hasn’t raced since April 5 over 2000m here when down the track in the Adrian Knox and instead of pushing onto the Oaks, she was spelled. Trialled well enough, can press forward and run a bold race.
4 Well Timed (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Kerry Parker trained gelding that resumes. He hasn’t raced since Anzac Day on the Kenso when down the track behind Thunderlips, not looking 100%. Given a good break, trials have been encouraging…watch the market.
3 Ravenclaw (Bet Now: $SP.00) has had a couple of runs at Rosehill to start the prep, spanking them first up before a down the track effort three weeks back. Tick over trial last week was pretty good, he’ll be strong late and his best is good enough.
