Race 1. (18:15) Vale Pat Hyland Handicap (66) 1000m
2 Bold Print (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is hit and miss but off his jumpouts, I say he is here to play. He resumes for Rachael Cunningham, his last run being on Nov 16 at Moe. Given the good break and has looked sharp in a couple of jumpout wins here. He takes beating here.
1 Blethyn (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks to have returned well for Matt Laurie after a first up win at Cranbourne, giving them a start and a beating, producing a brilliant finale from near last to score. If he is within range, he has the finale to take this out.
3 Epic Centre (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is several weeks between runs since racing over this trip at Sandown when leading and he gave a decent sight from the front but just felt the pinch late behind Tookay Pete. Good racing style for the short course, he’ll give a sight.
Race 2. (18:45) The Valley @ Southside Pakenham Plate 1200m
I think 10 Open Fire (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) can make a winning debut. Price/Kent trained filly that looks to have jumped out pretty well in readiness for start one, winning her last two jumpouts and has looked strong each time. Maps ideally, claim, should be strong at the end of 1200m…happy to be in her corner.
8 Castelli In Aria (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Castelvecchio mare that resumes. She did some nice things when last in work, her last run seeing her place at Bendigo on Aug 28. Three solid jumpouts under the belt, stable flying, there is clear intent.
5 Ole Royale (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is an Ole Kirk gelding that is on debut for Team Hawkes. He has had a couple of jumpouts to get ready for start one and hasn’t looked too bad to my eye. Likely spots them a start but should be strong late and is a knockout hope.
Race 3. (19:15) Cardinia Plumbing Solutions Handicap (Class 1) 1200m
4 Pure Passion (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Moody/Coleman trained filly that resumes. She is first up, having not raced since Oaks Day when racing at this track/distance, finishing down the track in the Rd Roses behind Point Barrow. looks to have jumped out well, she takes beating against these.
1 Discreet Point (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) was a nice maiden winner two back at Werribee before going to Cranbourne when tucked in behind and tried hard but just lacked the killer blow to go with them late. Maps ideally and hard fit, he appeals.
5 Sideline (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) would likely win if he brought his best. Just a query of where he is at. He ran over 1100m here several weeks back when off speed and I thought presented to threaten but just plodded to the line. Gets a barrier where he’ll do no work, he’s dangerous.
Race 4. (19:45) Vale Makybe Diva Handicap (64) 1400m
4 Light Moves (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks a nice horse on the up for Price/Kent. Big win last time at this track/distance, making a sustained run from off speed and drove hard late to finish best and score. Should get a sweet run in transit from the draw and be hard to beat.
6 Redwood Lane (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a son of Redwood that resumes for Team Freedman. He debuted at Seymour on Dec 28 when a strong winner, sitting on speed and he found plenty under pressure to score. Jumped out well and fresh at 1400m signals intent for mine.
2 Victory Tune (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is several weeks between runs since racing over 1300m at Sandown when off speed and while he seemingly had his chance, he kept finding and was far from disgraced when fourth. 1400m should be fine and despite the tricky gate, he’s one for exotics.
Race 5. (20:15) Symal Handicap (70) 1600m
12 Bayou Music (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is several weeks between runs since racing over 1800m at Caulfield when off speed and worked home with real purpose against the pattern behind Miss Miss Maranda. Hopefully gets a more positive steer and he can take this out.
9 Orovero (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has returned well and is a key threat. He ran over the mile at Caulfield Heath last start when off speed and worked home well enough when second to Mometz. Hard fit with a kind map, he’s one of the hardest to beat.
2 Falcon Of Malta (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) ran down the track behind Mometz in the race mentioned above. He chased the speed from the outset and tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through. More kind run in transit this time around, he’s dangerous at odds.
Race 6. (20:45) Torney Night Cup 2500m
5 Steel Run (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) was massive in defeat last start over this trip at Flemington, making a sustained run and tried hard but second up off a break, condition just gave way. Hard fit now, good upside, he clearly takes beating.
4 Tarvue (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has been up a little while but is holding her form really well at present. She won a few weeks back over 2000m at Flemington and credit to her, she was there to be beaten but she found and was strong to the line. She is one of the hardest to beat against these.
3 Arugamama (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes through the Lord Reims at Morphettville. She was near the speed throughout and just battled late. Think with a more patient steer, she can run a much improved race.
Race 7. (21:15) Ladbrokes Handicap (70) 1400m
12 Damehood (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should prove hard to beat after racing over 1200m here just over two weeks ago. She got off speed and worked home strongly in the straight when second. Hard fit and rising to 1400m, she’s one of the hardest to beat.
1 Le Ferrari (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a few weeks between runs since racing over this trip at Cranbourne. He got a fair way out of his ground and was good late when third to Hot Diggity Boom. Think with a more positive ride, he takes beating.
4 Legio Ten (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has home track advantage, he’s dangerous. He ran over this track/distance a few weeks back when off speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite get there when third. Can settle closer in the run and be effective late.
Race 8. (21:45) Ladbrokes Handicap (66) 2000m
9 Mr Bannock (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should take a power of beating. He ran two weeks ago at this track/distance where he was given a sore back I thought by Stackhouse, getting back and was never a factor. I think with a half decent steer here, he’ll take holding out.
2 Houdini (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) got an all time ride by E Brown when wunning here a fortnight back at this track/distance, settling that length closer vs length further back, which was the difference. Maps to stalk the speed and be effective late.
8 Mozu Marcassin (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is dangerous at a price if the top two are off their game. He comes back to 2000m after racing over 2600m at Cranbourne last start when second in the field of four, sitting on speed and trying but had no answers for Urban Outlook. Good racing style, he’ll give cheek.
