Race 1. (13:15) Reward Hospitality Mdn Plate 1200m
3 Mission Wise (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is worth a peanut each way in the opener. He debuted over 1000m at Hawkesbury when off speed and although held up at times, he had his chance but was still a pass mark. Like the rise in trip for him and there is little/no depth lining up here.
8 Knowing Look (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a GaiBott filly that resumes. She debuted at Warwick Farm on June 4 when near the speed and tired late behind Pempel. Looks to have trialled up nicely for the return, she’s a market watch.
2 Foolish Notion (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes here off the back of a debut second at Mudgee when off speed and kept finding the line when second to Curle. Better for the run…I doubt he wins but he can run top four.
Race 2. (13:50) Prince Of Merewether Paul Perry Hcp 1300m
3 Raise The Bar (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is an unraced juvenile I have time for and I think could measure up in better races. He has had two trials this time in to get ready for start one and the latest at Warwick Farm was a beauty. He moved very nicely and closed off like a nice horse. I’m confident he can take this out or at least go awfully close.
1 Anthropoid (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a son of Prague that resumes for Brad Widdup. He did nice thugs in his first prep with a couple of fourth placed efforts before being spelled. Looks to have trialled up well enough, he commands respect.
8 Gigi (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Maurice filly for O’Sbea/Charlton that debuts. She’s had a couple of trials to prepare, the latest over 1000m at Hawkesbury when placing and went about her business nicely. I’d watch betting and see what it does.
Race 3. (14:25) Recruit Now Mdn Hcp 1400m
3 Mister Martini (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1400m after resuming over 1250m at Canterbury when off speed in a slowly run race and while he was never threatening, he kept chasing and was quite good in defeat when third. Better for the run, kind map, I think he’ll only run well.
1 The Big Blue (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is an O’Shea/Charlton trained gelding that resumes. He did some nice things when last in work, with the only problem being he couldn’t greet the judge first. He’s trialled well for the return and strikes a winnable maiden.
4 No Woman No Cry (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a GaiBott gelding that debuts. Son of Microphone that has had extensive trial work to get ready for start one and hasn’t looked too bad to my eye, so watch betting and see what it does.
Race 4. (15:05) Living Turf Provincial Mdn Plate 1600m
4 Almonzo (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) gets the Blinkers and I reckon that might be the edge he needs to spark him to life. He ran fourth three weeks ago at this track/distance and I thought had every chance from behind the speed, just whacking late. If he gets that extra spark I think he takes beating here.
11 Cool Summer Nights (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) steps up to the mile after a first up placing at Taree over 1300m when off speed and chased hard in the straight but couldn’t quite get there when second. Better for the run and up in trip, she appeals.
8 Circus Girl (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) ran over 1350m at Wyong last week where she got back to near last in the run and while she was never threatening, she kept chasing and was pretty good in defeat I thought. I highly doubt she wins this but for wider exotics, she can be entertained.
Race 5. (15:40) Lees Racing (Bm64) 2300m
I am a bit surprised that 5 Mediaro (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) isn’t favourite here given he brings solid metro form leading into this. Latest effort came at Warwick Farm when a solid fourth to the very much in form Stylebender. Just has to hold his form and I think he’s a clear top seed against these.
4 Lugarno (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a slight query at the trip but is another with metro form. He attempted to lead throughout at Canterbury over 1900m last start and gave a decent sight from the front but just couldn’t quite go on with it. If he is allowed to walk them in front, then he could prove to be dangerous.
1 Tainui (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) steps up in trip after racing over the mile in the Quirindi Cup at Tamworth. He got a fair way out of his ground and was never really a factor. Like the rise in trip for him and is a knockout hope against these.
Race 6. (16:20) Nzb Samantha Miss (Bm68) 1300m
4 Totoka (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is facing D Day for mine. She’s a good horse, I am convinced of that. Ran really well here first up before going to Warwick Farm where she was ridden upside down I thought when leading and tiring late. I think with a more patient steer, a bunny to chase, she’ll take holding out.
3 Spaceballs (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) takes beating here after a win over this trip at Hawkesbury, giving them a start and a beating, getting better as the race went on. Her confidence is up, she can certainly go on with it.
8 Spirits Run Deep (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should be at peak fitness. She ran over 1200m on her home deck at Canberra last start where she had the suck run in behind and tried hard but couldn’t quite finish it off. Harder here but like her up in distance, she could pinch first four.
Race 7. (16:55) Newcastle Stakes 1400m
6 West Of Africa (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is nightmare horse to follow but if he brings his best and can be within range, j a confident he will be in the finish. He ran over the mile at Randwick last time when back near last and did make up ground but was never threatening. Just needs to get a drag into the race to launch late.
9 Tuileries (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) resumed in the Triscay several weeks back at Randwick. She got back in the run in a race dominated on speed and while she was never a winning threat, she kept chasing and was pretty good in defeat. If within range, she has the finale to be dangerous.
12 Imposant (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has home track advantage and can launch late. She got too far out of her ground when resuming at Hawkesbury but didn’t mind the way she finished her race off in defeat. Similar to West Of Africa. Needs luck but can launch late.
Race 8. (17:35) Michael Huff Memorial Midway (Bm64) 1500m
7 Coyote (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) will do me in the last. He resumed over 1250m here where he got off speed and spotted those in front a start but didn’t mind the way he finished his race off behind Il Passero, fitter and up in trip, can settle closer, he takes beating.
3 Waerea (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) was a gritty first up winner over 1400m at Kembla. The race was there to be won and I loved the way he dug in when required to score. Good upside to come, he appeals here.
5 California Grass (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a John Thompson trained mare that resumes. She is first up, having not raced since Oct 15 when down the track over 2400m at Warwick Farm. Better suited over further but has trialled well so watch betting.
