Race One (13:35) : Australian Turf Club Maiden Handicap 1100m Form Guide

Back Me: Hampton Court (Best Odds: $2.40) on top for me here. On debut for Gai Waterhouse and has trialled twice leading up to this, the latest of those resulting in a win over Breeders Plate winner and stablemate Law. Drawn wide here, but should spear over and take some beating.
Big Danger: Brazen Beau (Best Odds: $2.80) is another Waller first starter who has looked good at the trials, with the latest of those being a close second to Delectation, who has form behind Unencumbered and ran a good second at Rosehill on Saturday. Nash steers from gate one, looks a leading player.
Roughie: Magwitch (Best Odds: $7.00) made his debut at Werribee on Australia Day and ran a really good race, hitting the line strongly late for second. Looks to be a colt who will appreciate a touch further, but he does have the Snowden polish and a lovely gate.

Race Two (14:10) : Big Sports Breakfast Handicap (68) 1550m Form Guide

Back Me: Green Empire (Best Odds: $2.70) looks the way to go. Put together two very good runs at Kembla Grange before breaking his maiden status at Wyong impressively, aided by a peach steer from Bowman. He is the only runner in the race who has upside, and should only improve with the distance rise.
Big Danger: Clever Boy (Best Odds: $7.00) certainly loves to have a think in his races, as we saw earlier on his career. Did a stack of work first up at Kembla yet made up good ground in the straight, in particular over the final 200m. Might be better suited over a touch further and on a bigger track, but he strikes a very thin race. Also including Wine ‘N’ Dine with Nash on top. He is definitely looking for this distance and is drawn to sit closer to the tempo.
Roughie: Dubai Dusk (Best Odds: $21.00) caught most punters off guard with his rails hugging win over this track/distance a couple of weeks back. His form prior to that was ok albeit in much easier company. He could surprise again if the breaks go his way.

Race Three (14:45) : Instagram @Atcraces Handicap 1250m Form Guide

Back Me: The appointment of Nash on Sweet Kiss (Best Odds: $4.80) leans me towards her corner. She is a jump and run sprinting type who always tries hard, but seemingly can’t quite finish the race off. In saying that, she has raced alongside some very good horses including Arabian Gold, Bull Point and Overreach. Excellent first up run at Kensington when sitting with no cover and stuck on for third behind a couple of handy types in Brook Road and Pirandello. Nash should ping her out from the barrier, lead, and take some beating with a cheap sectional.
Big Danger: Hard To Hold (Best Odds: $11.00) did all the work in front last time out at Newcastle yet found plenty when asked and held on to a very good win. Would like to see this horse be ridden with cover, which is what may eventuate from the good barrier here. Definite chance.
Roughie: More Beautiful (Best Odds: $10.00) is looking for further than this based on her slashing first up third at Wyong, but she does have the Waller polish and has drawn the paint. Wouldn’t discount her out completely from calculations.

Race Four (15:20) : Tab iPhone App Handicap 1250m Form Guide

Back Me: Looks a lovely race for Gamblestown (Best Odds: $2.25), who returns to racing after a pretty successful opening campaign back in the Spring, which ended with a close up fourth to Best Case over the mile at Randwick, with the second horse being Kirramosa, who went on to win the Crown Oaks. This horse was most impressive on debut at Kembla, running good time, so if he is anywhere near right fitness wise, he’ll just about take care of these.
Big Danger: Knight Templar (Best Odds: $4.20) did everything wrong last time out at Wyong, wobbling on the home turn and wanting to drift out under pressure, but he still spanked them. He didn’t beat a bad field there, and should press forward from the wide gate for Nash.
Roughie: Landfall (Best Odds: $17.00) just got a touch too far back on debut at Gosford, but his last 200m was very good. He looks as if he’ll be better suited over a mile and further, but is drawn to get a gun sit off the pace and is trained by Chris Waller.

Race Five (16:00) : Hyland Race Colours Handicap (75) 1550m Form Guide

Back Me: Hugh Bowman produced one of the better rides in defeat you will see when he rode Fine Bubbles (Best Odds: $3.90) under the lights here a couple of weeks back. Slotted in from the wide barrier, chimed in on the turn, looked the winner, only to be gunned down in the last stride by Hot Albert. Drawn much better here, Bowman sticks, and drops a bit in depth. Clear top pick.
Big Danger: The stablemate Perfectly Stunning (Best Odds: $11.00) made her debut for Kris Lees in the Nudgee at Eagle Farm on January 25, and loomed to win in the straight, but the wet track and fitness gave way late. Drops significantly in class, only goes up 2.5kg and gets a preferred firm surface.
Roughie: Talent (Best Odds: $7.50) looked in need of the run when resuming at Kensington, finishing sixth to You’ll Never. Is second up here, but does step up to a trip he’ll appreciate and this isn’t an overly strong race.

Race Six (16:40) : Congrats @ Vinery Handicap (70) 1250m Form Guide

Back Me: Commanding Wit (Best Odds: $4.00) was a bit of a milk drinker in her first prep, but she turned it all around first at Wyong with a dominant display as an odds on favourite. The stable has always had an opinion of this mare, and now that she has had a couple of preps in her, she might be ready to show the rest of us what she is capable of.
Big Danger: Maluti (Best Odds: $5.50) is bursting to win a race, but he just keeps finding one or two better on the day. He has the right barrier for him, he is in form, down in the weights, hard to beat.
Roughie: Cleansing Ale (Best Odds: $10.00) was freshened up after winning under the lights here back in October and ran a couple of weeks back again at this track when a closing seventh to More Than Brave after peeling very wide on the home turn. Drawn the paint here, so should improve.

Race Seven (17:20) : Canterbury Park Handicap (75) 1900m Form Guide

Back Me: Tamariz (Best Odds: $3.60) on top. Outstanding run in defeat first up here when doing a stack of work on the pace, then got a soft time in front and toyed with them again racing here. He then ran at Randwick a couple of weeks back and was a very solid favourite. He looked to get a very soft lead there, but didn’t find much over the final furlong when asked for the effort. I think coming back to 1900m and Canterbury will suit her perfectly, and she doesn’t have to improve much to take care of these.
Roughie: Son Of Ross (Best Odds: $9.00) doesn’t have any early pace and has to be dug up early. Looked the winner here two back, but couldn’t quite get past Immense, a real tough stayer himself, then raced last week at Warwick Farm and was taken to the lead under hard riding 600m out and just kept chipping away but was gunned down late. The key to him is the pace. If they walk in front, he’ll struggle, but if it’s a nice rolling tempo, he will get his chance.
Roughie: Diamond Jim (Best Odds: $19.00) plugged away okay at Randwick last time out behind Laidback Larry in a far stronger race than what he faces here. Dropping back to the midweek level looks ideal, and is beautifully placed at the weights.
