Ten races have been set down for Caulfield this Saturday where there is good depth across the program. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out nine metres for the entire circuit.

6 Scenic Point (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should take beating for Team Hayes off the back of a sharp debut win at Pakenham over 1100m. She was just off the speed and absolutely trucking before angling for clear air and knuckled down with purpose late to win and win quite well. Keen to see how she goes.

1 Aleppo Pine (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a few weeks between runs for James Cummings since contesting the Todman where he didn’t really get the rub of the green and should have been in the finish I thought behind Tentyris. Moved well in a tick over trial last week at Hawkesbury and appears suited at this level.

3 Facilitate (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1100m after racing over 1000m last Wednesday at Sandown when near the speed and he tried hard but just couldn’t quite get there when a narrow second. Knocking on the door and commands some level of respect.

10 Barbaric Lad (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has an engine under the hood. I thought the ride was horrendously negative here three weeks back, spotting Tatsumaki far too much head start but you had to like the way he finished his race off in defeat. If he is within range, he’ll take holding out.

8 Rocket Tiger (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is racing well for Ben Brisbourne and a win wouldn’t shock at all with him after consecutive runner up efforts, the latest at Sandown at the midweeks when narrowly beaten by Bifrost. He has run well at Caulfield before and overall, this isn’t a deep contest.

7 Namesake (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a key chance off the back of a solid effort behind Tatsumaki three weeks back. He got into a decent spot in transit and tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through. Not sure he wins, but is a must for exotics.

2 Electric Belle (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is flying for Reece Goodwin and is one of the leading contenders off the back of a couple of wins, the latest being at this track/distance three weeks ago in the Country Final where she knuckled down with purpose late to win and win well. Hard to beat once again.

13 Supernima (Bet Now:  $SP.00) hasn’t done much wrong this time in for Moody/Coleman and has to be respected. He has had two runs back from a spell, both runs coming over 1200m at Pakenham, winning fresh up before a second to a very nice horse, Proved, who won again last week to frank the form. Good racing style and 1400m is ideal.

1 Bon Mistress (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks better suited at this level. She comes through the Sunline from two weeks back when outclassed on paper but was far from disgraced in defeat behind all the way winner Grinzinger Belle. Better suited at 78 grade for mine and her best is good enough to be dangerous.

3 Pure Alpha (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came over 1200m here three weeks ago. He got into a decent spot in transit off the speed and was there to win but first up, condition just gave way late in the piece. Better set up here and he had jumped out well prior so give him another look.

14 Longtimedreaming (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is on the seven day back up for Paul Preusker after racing last Saturday down the straight at Flemington. She worked home with real purpose late in the piece after being near last in the run behind Codigo. Like her up in trip and she has the finale to be dangerous.

2 Statuario (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should prove hard to beat for Team Browne after placing in the Alister Clark. He got back off the speed but worked to the line with real purpose late in the piece and was a definite pass mark when third to impressive winner Shanwah. 2400m should be fine and is one of the hardest to beat.

3 Politely Dun (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks suited up to 2400m after racing in the Alister Clark a fortnight back. He was very one paced when asked for the effort but he stayed on and was good in defeat when fourth. Racing like he wants more ground, which he gets here. Leading contender.

4 Kicking King (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes here several weeks between runs since a plain effort over 2000m at Pakenham. He landed on speed and seemed to have his chance but when asked for the effort, gee he was on the plain side late. Tick over jumpout was good and his best is good enough.

9 My Brothers Keeper (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is flying for Stephen Brown and should prove hard to beat against these. He comes through the Yarra Valley Cup two weeks ago at The Valley where he was one of the runs of the race given the track pattern. He had to make a sustained run out wide and loomed to win but just couldn’t quite see it through. Fairer track here (hopefully) and he’ll be hard to hold out.

2 Kings Valley (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has to be given respect. Been up a while but seems to be getting better as the prep goes on, the latest performance being a win over 2000m at Randwick where he got better as the race went on and was dominant late, beating Birdman, high up in betting for the Sydney Cup, so that form reads well. Just needs to overcome the sticky draw.

5 Fortune (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one to be entertained at odds. He comes through the Yarra Valley Cup where he seemed to get a decent enough run in transit but the track was shifty and he didn’t look 100% comfortable. He is a good horse when right so don’t dismiss him.

11 Dreams (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Mick Kent trained filly that was an arrogant winner at The Valley last time out, producing sustained speed from the front and gave nothing else a look in to win and win well. Good racing style and should take running down.

3 Certain Rise (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one of the key threats. She has been freshened up since the Inglis Sprint when far from disgraced in defeat behind a very good filly, El Morzillo. Given a freshen up and her recent jumpout win at Flemington was sharp. Leading chance.

7 Madrina (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was a total forgive from the Dan Casboult at The Valley when wide no cover on speed throughout and that hard run just told on her late in the piece behind Clean Energy. Her best is good enough and has a good racing style. She can bounce back for sure.

2 Que Tempesta (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks suited up to 2000m after resuming three weeks ago here in the Peter Young when just finding them a bit sharp but he kept on and was a pass mark in his return behind Pride Of Jenni. Great second up record and up to 2000m, he’s a leading contender.

6 Poison Chalice (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one of the leading chances. He has been freshened up since the Blamey where he contested WFA and didn’t disgrace himself at all in defeat behind Marble Arch. Fresh legs and up to 2000m…to me, signals intent, and stable did win this race last year.

9 Basilinna (Bet Now:  $SP.00) commands respect off the back of her Yarra Valley Cup win at The Valley where she gave them a start and a beating, launching late to finish over the top and score. She has run well at this track/distance previously and with upside/improvement to come, she’s hard to beat.

8 Suparazi (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a near good thing to my eye. He resumed in the Newmarket when outclassed but he ran out of his skin in defeat, closing off with real purpose behind Joliestar. Given the mini break and his tick over trial win last week at Bendigo…he smoked. He’s come back in best mode and am quite keen on his prospects.

1 Golden Mile (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the class of the field and class will carry himg a long way. He has been freshened ups ince the Liverpool Cup when a long time off and just needed the run behind the very much in form Iowna Merc. Tick over trial was good, he has class and a kind map.

2 Ayrton (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a previous winner of this race and does have class. He sat on speed at Flemington over 1400m when resuming in the Shaftesbury Avenue and condition just gave way late in the piece behind Is it Me. Hos best is clearly good enough.

1 Modown (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came in the Echuca Cup where he seemingly had every chance from just off the speed and was a tad on the plain side late in the piece. Great second up record, in well after the claim…his best is clearly good enough.

16 Porter (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to Melbourne for Danny O’Brien after a win at Morphettville Parks where he looked a good thing on paper and duly saluted to win and win well. This race has been hit hard by scratchings so he is one of the hardest to beat.

19 Lethal Thoughts (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been up a little while but hasn’t been racing too bad. He ran behind Stay Focused two weeks back at The Valley where the pattern wasn’t in his corner and he struggled on the shifty track. Not sure he can win, but can run first four.
