5/2/2022 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Randwick, Inglis Millennium day

A bumper ten race program has been set down for Randwick on Saturday where it is Inglis Millennium Day. The weather is fine, the track is soft (6) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

This a very open race for the babies. 9 Plymstock (Bet Now: $5.00 TOP ODDS) was a very impressive debut winner here two weeks ago at this trip. What was impressive was the way she knuckled down to win the race when it was there to be won, then on the line when she won, the ears were pricked, suggesting she had more to offer. She’ll need to produce more this time because there is more depth, but she looks a likely type.

Giving respect to 3 Spacewalk (Bet Now: $5.50 TOP ODDS), who resumes for James Cummings. Hasn’t raced since his debut in the Breeders Plate when on speed and just tired late when close up behind Sejardan. Look to switch off in the straight in his recent trial but once Bowman got stuck in, he responded and really ran through the line. Draws to get a good run in transit and has the strong form.

1 Boyfriend (Bet Now: $16.00 TOP ODDS) is a Snitzel colt for the Ryan/Alexiou camp on debut. He trialled at Rosehill on Monday and just cruised around the track in a good piece of work when a close up third. I always like horses that trial and race in the same week, and the stable don’t usually get it wrong with juveniles.

12 Markwell Dreamer (Bet Now: $16.00 TOP ODDS) looks a talented animal for Joseph Burges at Taree. Bless him and the big odds he was when winning a Highway here two weeks ago first up. He was the only horse you wanted to be on in the run and once the gaps came, he exploded and spanked them. Fitter and up to 1200m, I can only see improvement. Like him again.

19 Danzadel (Bet Now: $19.00 TOP ODDS) should be suited back up to 1200m but the parade will be key. Was a complete mess fresh and ran her race accordingly when down the track. Paraded much better a fortnight back here and was good from the back behind Markwell Dreamer. Back up in trip, she is a key threat.

24 Katgully Red (Bet Now: $61.00 TOP ODDS) is another in this race that is proven at Highway grade. He ran behind Anethole several weeks back and caught the eye from near last in the run, beaten just under three lengths in a good effort. If he can settle a few pairs closer in the run, I think he’ll be dangerous.

8 Lennon (Bet Now: $7.00 TOP ODDS) is a talented animal for Les Bridge that can be hit and miss but when he is on, he is city class. Produced an electric finale from the back to win at Newcastle last time out in what looked a pretty strong 64. Draws to get a lovely run in transit and gets in well after the claim.

9 French Emperor (Bet Now: $3.10 TOP ODDS) could be on a Derby path potentially and he kicked off his prep in style when spanking them over 1400m at Kembla. He produced really good change up speed from off the fence and really made a mess of them late in an impressive return. Hard to beat here I’d suggest.

7 Canyonero (Bet Now: $34.00 TOP ODDS) should be suited back in trip. He got a fair way out of his ground here two weeks back but was okay late without threatening behind White Boots. He can be hit and miss at times, but can bob up from time to time at this level, so I’d include in exotics.

2 Wisdom Of Water (Bet Now: $6.50 TOP ODDS) is flying for Annabel Neasham and I think the key has been figured out to him. Dry ground and racing clockwise. He has turned his form around since that has happened, winning the Wyong 3&4YO Magic Millions before an impressive win in the Magic Millions QTIS at the Gold Coast. He draws to park off a hot speed and gets J Kah.

1 Malkovich (Bet Now: $3.60 TOP ODDS) is a quality sprinter for Bjorn Baker that resumes. He has been kept once since The Warra when close up behind Eleven Eleven on Gong Day at Kembla. Looked to really truck on speed when winning a trial here last week and I do like him at 1000m. Hard to beat.

4 Mossman Gorge (Bet Now: $16.00 TOP ODDS) is a Matty Dale trained sprinter that comes here with Stakes form next to his name after resuming at Caulfield with a narrow second to Streetcar Stranger in the WJ Adams. Has a fab second up record and with that first up form, I think he commands respect.

5 Yukon (Bet Now: $4.00) should take beating here for Team Hawkes. Market didn’t want him when he resumed over 1400m here but I thought he was one of the better runs of the meeting when third to Bring The Ransom given he’s better over further, he looked like he would need the run…it all points to him running well here.

6 Fleetwood Maca (Bet Now: $8.00) is a progressive mare for Annabel Neasham. Good change up speed from a stand start essentially to win two back at Canberra before racing here and I thought she was far from disgraced in defeat behind Room Number. I think she commands respect.

I think they will be positive with 8 Yardstick (Bet Now: $10.00), who is four weeks between runs since a solid effort in a strong Class 4 at the Gold Coast during the Magic Millions Carnival. Tick over trial win was a good piece of work and with only 51kg, he’ll run a bold race.

Quite keen here on 1 Sejardan (Bet Now: $4.00). 2/2 to start his career, winning the Breeders Plate fresh before proving that was no fluke with a Golden Gift triumph. He still looks raw and new, but looked very sharp in a piece of work last Saturday alongside Royalzel and I say he comes here ready to rock and roll.

8 Zambezi River (Bet Now: $12.00) is a Chris Waller trained colt that resumes. He was kept quite safe in betting when debuting in the Breeders Plate during the Spring and he was good in defeat when third to Sejarden. He’s trialled up well leading in and does have race experience.

4 Sweet Ride (Bet Now: $23.00) looks a pretty sharp colt for Annabel Neasham. Had specking at odds when debuting at Rosehill a few weeks ago where sustained speed from the front came to the fore, leading throughout and he gave them a spanking, though I will say on speed was certainly no disadvantage. Harder here, but he’s up and running and in form.

2 Incredulous Dream (Bet Now: $5.00) should be suited back to this level. Thrown in the deep end last start in the Magic Millions F&M. Unfortunately she got stuck in a tricky spot from the wide gate and couldn’t quite finish it off, but was far from disgraced behind Snapdancer. That form reads well for this.

10 Steel Diamond (Bet Now: $5.00) is getting towards last chance territory but I do feel up to 1300m on the bigger track and fitter are all ticks for her. She was 1200m back to 1100m at Rosehill three weeks ago and just lost sight of the bunny, but was good late. Gets a better set up this time around and can bounce back.

5 Saigon (Bet Now: $8.50) is getting close to D-Day I feel. Comes through the Arctic Thunder race from a few weeks back at Rosehill. She seemed to get the right run in transit and was presented to win, but couldn’t quite finish the job when third. Back to 1300m with fresh legs I find interesting, but stable is starting to find their groove.

The big, big watch here is 2 Converge (Bet Now: $4.80), the JJ Atkins winner that resumes. He was touted as a Cox Plate horse in the Spring but after a plain resumption, he was spelled, given a really good break with eyes toward the Autumn. He has been very lightly raced the last 6-7 months and I think it’s been a masterstroke because he has trialled like an absolute jet and when he’s been asked to go, he has and then some. I’m confident he can resume a winner.

Great to see 4 Paulele (Bet Now: $2.25) back at the races. He had quite a fruitful Spring, and was on track for an Everest berth, but the stable opted for the Coolmore and it didn’t work out behind Home Affairs. He has trialled up super leading in and does appear to save his best for Randwick quite clearly. Keen to see how he goes.

1 Captivant (Bet Now: $12.00) has class in his own right and can certainly give this a shake. He produced good form towards the end of last prep, running a game second in the Caulfield Guineas before leading and tiring to run last in an epic Cox Plate. Dry tracks are his go in life, so look for him to charge late.

With the confirmation that 13 Silent Impact (Bet Now: $2.30) runs here, I’m in his corner. Was also accepted for the Eskimo Prince but tackles the softer option and I think the right option. Had to really surge hard late to win two weeks ago here fresh in what was a fast run 1100m. Like him up in trip and just maps super from the draw.

6 Broken Arrows (Bet Now: $19.00) is flying this time in for Matty Dunn and I think he can get back into the winners list. Peach from Jones saw him win fresh at Warwick Farm before producing decent late splits here two weeks ago behind Shadow Crush in a good effort. Like him up to 1200m and third up, should be hard fit.

7 Soami (Bet Now: $26.00) is a So You Think gelding for Matty Dunn that resumes. He hasn’t raced since October 4 when beaten a lip at Warwick Farm by a handy Saturday metro class horse, Suave. Has looked strong in both trials and can sprint well fresh, so I’d watch the market.

I think 4 Frosty Rocks (Bet Now: $5.50) is a great bet in the get out. He’s back in business for Bjorn Baker after a plain return. Trialled well after and then went to the Magic Millions Cup where he led and gave a super kick, just getting nutted late by Eleven Eleven. He looks to lead this field up comfortably, he gets J Kah, dry ground, hard fit…only runs well IMO.

2 Purple Sector (Bet Now: $7.00) is bursting to win one. Freshened up after a second to Kirwan’s Lane on the Kenso track. Then went to the Carrington and was solid in defeat behind Special Reward, just lacking the change up speed to win. Fitter and up to the mile, he’ll take beating.

9 No Compromise (Bet Now: $7.00) looks to be in for a good prep. He was big odds fresh in the Carrington but I thought he ran a super race from near last on the turn when fourth to Special Reward. He will have eyes on 2000m+ races but off the return, I think he commands respect.
