Race 1. (11:45) Precise Air Mdn Hcp 1400m
She’s becoming costly for punters, but I think 4 Starla (Bet Now: $2.80 TOP ODDS) can break the maiden tag here. Comes out of a really fast race here on debut when second to Willowheart before going to Kembla where she just got too far back in the run but finished off strongly to run a narrow second. Third up now at 1400m, she looks ready to fire…but she’s getting last chance territory.
What do they do with 1 Spaceboy (Bet Now: $6.00 TOP ODDS). He’s got the talent to win this, but at times, he can be very weak in his finale, as seen over 1200m at Wyong last time when keen on speed and just feeling the pinch late. Visors off, comes here off an eight length trial win and I think perhaps they just let him run from the front and give them something decent to chase.
10 Vinaigrette (Bet Now: $17.00 TOP ODDS) is the value in this race for sure. Ran over 1300m in a maiden at Hawkesbury last start when back in the run and under pressure but responded and finished off with real purpose late to run second to impressive winner Wicked Wench. Gets a soft run from the gate and the Blinkers go on first time. $20+ for her does look a tad silly.
Race 2. (12:25) The Agency Projects (bm70) 1800m
Looks to be good speed engaged here, so I’m going the way of 4 Costas (Bet Now: $5.50 TOP ODDS) for Chris Waller. He ran over the mile at Warwick Farm last time out when just off the speed and looked to be going well but when Dolan wanted to get clear, he couldn’t and couldn’t build the revs. Drawn out in the small field, he should get clear air this time around and I like the booking of Harley.
5 Lewis (Bet Now: $3.00 TOP ODDS) is a three year old taking on the older horses but he done that last time out at this track/distance when on speed and giving a good kick but just couldn’t hold off the finale of Maid Of Ore, who franked the form by winning next time out. Tick over trial was quite good and from the gate, I think Collett can potentially take a sit and opt for cover.
2 Gitan (Bet Now: $16.00 TOP ODDS) comes through the Warwick Farm race mentioned above that Costas had no luck in and I thought this guy did a pretty good job in defeat. He wasn’t really wanted in betting and after settling near the back, he was never really a winning threat, but found the line quite well I thought behind Baanone. Gets gate one, so can sit closer in the run and is a second up winner.
Race 3. (13:00) Drinkwise Mdn Plate 1100m
Very surprised there is double figures on offer for 1 Atherton (Bet Now: $8.50 TOP ODDS), Kim Waugh trains this three year old, resuming having not raced since April 16 at Hawkesbury in a 2YO maiden when on speed and tiring late behind Chelsea Reign. Has had two trials in readiness for his return, winning the first one at Gosford before bolting up at Wyong and smashing the clock. Hope gate one is used to advantage.
A fast run 1100m should suit 6 Hulk (Bet Now: $4.40 TOP ODDS), who comes through the Brian Crowley on the course proper here when off a good speed there and chased hard throughout to run third to Diamond Thunder. On form, he probably wins…the problem is he’s a non winner and has turned it up a few times throughout his career, so prefer to watch him than back.
4 Hellbenders (Bet Now: $21.00 TOP ODDS) is a son of Helmet for Gary Portelli that resumes. This colt had two career outings in the early part of Winter to start his racing life and while he didn’t win, he wasn’t too bad in two maidens which have been strong form references. His recent trial win, to the eye, was very good, and on the clock it agreed given he ran quicker time that Golden Eagle winner Kolding.
Race 4. (13:35) The Agency R/e Choisir Hcp 1100m
3 Agent Pippa (Bet Now: $2.60 TOP ODDS) looks the leader and will look the winner for the most part. She hasn’t raced for a few weeks since leading throughout to win at this trip at Randwick when given a peach front running steer from Sam Clenton. Did win impressively at the Rosehill 1100m at the start of the prep and will give them something to chase. Last 50m will be the test.
4 Southern Lad (Bet Now: $3.50 TOP ODDS) is a son of Ocean Park for John O’Shea resuming. This bloke is bred to be a middle distance type but does have a really good turn of foot on him and he gets the right set up fresh. Trialled up very well behind In Lighten Me, and sitting off a fast speed with only 51.5kg on his back, I can see him being quite popular in late betting here.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen the best of 1 Glenall (Bet Now: $4.80 TOP ODDS) but if he brought anything near it here, he likely wins. Hasn’t raced since the Bobbie Lewis down the Flemington straight when down the track behind Zoutori, who of course ran super in the Gilgai behind Sunlight and Santa Ana Lane. Freshened up and looked sharp in a recent trial win.
Race 5. (14:20) Agency Property M'ment (bm70) 3200m
I reckon 3 Miss Moana (Bet Now: $5.00) is one of the better bets on the program. Big win from the back to win first up over the Wyong mile before going to 2000m on the course proper where she was back and never a factor but bear in mind they walked in front so those behind had no chance. She’s a pure stayer so don’t see 3200m being an issue and likely gets the sit behind Breakdance.
1 Breakdance (Bet Now: $2.05) will lead this field up and look the winner most of the way. Lovely front running steer from Avdulla saw him win last start at Warwick Farm in pretty good style. That run was on October 16 and has been kept up to the mark with a tick over trial over 1000m. Gets the claim for Brock Ryan, so gets in well at the weights and will take some beating.
4 Eugenio (Bet Now: $7.00) steps up to the two miles but I don’t think it will be an issue for him. He ran over 2400m at Kembla last start in a race where it turned into a real slog the last 600m but once he got clear, he put them away and was increasing the margin with every stride. He does seem a touch of value at around the $7/thereabouts because I think he is one who will run it out okay.
Race 6. (15:40) Jcdecaux (bm70) 1400m
I’m hoping sustained speed comes to the fore in the shape of 5 Statuesquely (Bet Now: $2.90), who was well supported when resuming over 1400m at Warwick Farm where she attempted to lead all the way and gave a kick for a few strides but just weakened late when third to Sakura. James Innes is a solid front running rider, and I hope he just lets this mare roll along on speed now she has the run under the belt.
6 Zouologist (Bet Now: $6.00) is a Chris Waller trained gelding who was a drifter in betting when resuming over 1400m at Warwick Farm. Tim Clark looked to give the four year old a decent steer just off the speed and tried hard to win but couldn’t get past Tahsin, who was just too tough. Has the run under the belt now and from the gate, perhaps he can get a suck run off the top tip.
4 McCormack (Bet Now: $15.00) looks to be a bit of value at $20+. He comes through the Tahsin race mentioned above when wide no cover for the trip and weakening out of the finish behind the Joe Pride horse. Draws gate one this time around with Sam Clenton and her claim to offset some weight. His best is good enough to figure in the finish so I can see some value there.
Race 7. (16:20) Heineken 3 (bm70) 1300m
Remaining at 1200m is the knock with 12 Palurien (Bet Now: $3.60) for James Cummings but she’s turned the corner. Tough maiden win two back over 1200m at Newcastle before racing at the same track/distance and running a closing second to Knickpoint, who was very impressive in winning. She’s racing as if 1400m suits, but I think a fast run 1200m suits and with the gate, she gets three/four wider cover and launches.
I like 1 Kedah (Bet Now: $4.50) back to 1200m. This girl ran over 1400m at Warwick Farm last time out where the tempo was somewhat against her but she chased hard and did produce some really good late splits when fourth to Vitesse. I reckon 1400m is perhaps a bridge too far so like her back to 1200m and if she’s within range 400m out, I think she’ll take some beating.
9 Cardinet (Bet Now: $6.50) is flying for Mitch Beer, winning 2/2 this time in. Wide no cover fresh at Wagga but was too tough for them before racing on her home track at Albury where she got the suck run in behind and once she got the splits, she showed good change up speed to win. Gets a soft run from the gate and with the claim for Teo Nugent, she’s likeable at odds.
Race 8. (17:00) Cactus Imaging (bm72) 1550m
Can 2 Jazzland (Bet Now: $2.70) be trusted? If he runs up to the first up win at Wyong, I think he wins again. Admittedly, he got a good time of it in front but once Josh Parr clicked him up, gee he put them away in a few strides and was back to his best, his best seeing him being a city class horse. Comes to town now off that win and I think if the button is pushed, he gets the lead and gets it comfortably.
6 Adana (Bet Now: $6.50) is very hit and miss but for exotics, I’d include him. He ran over 1300m at Warwick Farm last time out where it was a real on pace domination from Murillo so Adana was never really a winning factor, but did make up some headway late. He did win in good style a few runs ago, but with cut in the ground. Needs rain to be a serious winning chance.
What to do with 1 Guise (Bet Now: $12.00). Talented mare for Chris Waller who resumed over 1400m at Warwick Farm and looked to travel okay but as soon as pressure was applied, she went backwards. Ordered to trial and looked well enough when running last but under a hold. Her best is good enough to beat these, she gets in well after the claim…can she bounce back?
Race 9. (17:40) Sharp Extensive It (bm70) 1100m
Throw at the stumps in the get out in the shape of 14 Nicconi Poni (Bet Now: $9.00). Mitch Beer trains this mare, who ran in a Listed race on Geelong Cup Day and at the top of the straight, she looked the winner, but couldn’t quite finish it off when fourth to Smart Coupe. She drops from Listed grade to a 70, yet drops 4kg…can’t believe that double figures is on offer.
All you can do is win and that is what 10 Wandabaa (Bet Now: $4.80) has done in her career to date, winning 3/3. Resumed over 900m at Newcastle when back in the run and finishing off with real purpose to get the job done and produced brilliant late splits in doing so. Tempo looks fast once again and if she doesn’t get too far back in the run, she’ll be hard to hold out.
1 Spencer (Bet Now: $17.00) is an interesting runner. Resumes for Bjorn Baker, having not raced since May when not beaten far here on the course proper by Kolding, who of course has gone on to be one of the better gallopers in Australia and the form around him just reads so well. Spencer is better suited over further, but has class and the big tick is gate one, so he’ll do no work in the run.
