4/9/2020 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Wyong, Wyong Cup day

A bumper eight race program has been assembled for Wyong this Friday where it is Wyong Cup Day. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

10 Kiss And Tell (Bet Now: $1.80) is a Ryan/Alexiou trained mare that has been thereabouts pretty much throughout her career but just can’t quite crack it for a win. Six weeks between runs when racing at Kembla last Saturday when beaten a half length when running fourth. Got upside to come and think she finds a winnable maiden.

1 Atherton (Bet Now: $3.10) is a horse who I have had time for given how sharp he has looked on occasions in trials. Just hasn’t translated it to race day but he does resume on his home track on a big day in what is, overall, a thin maiden. Trialled well leading in, gets Avdulla to steer and potentially gets a soft time of it on speed. Market will be the guide.

3 Dunlee (Bet Now: $9.00) is a son of Dissident that resumes for the Damien Lane stable. This gelding last raced over the mile here back in April when third, a distant third, to impressive winner Significance, who admittedly didn’t go on with it soon after, but that still looks okay for this and looked solid enough in a trial to get ready.

5 Elisa Carolina (Bet Now: $5.50) is a huge watch here. Talented mare for Kris Lees that resumes. Was sent here in the Autumn as a potential Oaks contender, but failed in the Adrian Knox and was spelled soon after. Like she resumes at 1600m fresh, telling me she’s forward enough to run well first up, and has a touch of class.

2 High Court (Bet Now: $5.50) is a handy animal for Jeff Englebrecht that can measure up here for sure. Gutsy third at Tamworth two back before finding firmer ground on Taree Cup Day over the mile and he bolted up in an impressive effort. Proven weight carrier, placed in his lone run at the track and has winning form next to his name.

The Rod Northam trained mare 3 Mo’s Glory (Bet Now: $5.50) is right in this. Market wanted to be with her at Scone last time out, with the mare getting to her home track, finding dry ground, and helped by a lovely steer from Greg Ryan, she was able to fight back and win. Harder here, but now she has a win, she can on with it.

2 Badia (Bet Now: $2.80) on top. Daughter of Snitzel for James Cummings that is racing very well without winning. Ran at the midweeks at Canterbury last time out where she was just off the speed before angling into clear and chasing hard when second to Forbidden Love. Gets J Mac on from a plum draw and is clearly the one to beat.

1 Archery Butts (Bet Now: $8.00) is an above average gelding for James Cummings that resumes. Showed a bit of quality when winning first up at Gosford before going to Wyong where it appeared as if he choked down when tailed off last behind Spaceboy. Been given a decent break and has looked the part in a couple of trial wins.

8 Embeller (Bet Now: $16.00) is the knockout chance here. John Thompson trained filly that was an impressive winner from off the speed two back at Kembla before going to Hawkesbury where she was five wide for the trip in a total forgive. Draws much better this time around and gets Blinkers first time. Can bounce back for sure.

2 Sammy (Bet Now: $3.60) on top for me. Kris Lees trained colt that was very good in two runs last prep to start his career, placing each time. On speed in a fast run race on debut when third before going to Hawkesbury when running second to the well performed Blaze A Trail. Trials leading in have been strong and should prove hard to beat.

9 Mashrabiya (Bet Now: $1.60) is a big watch. Ryan/Alexiou trained three year old that resumes, having not raced since the Autumn, where he didn’t really fire a shot each time, but each race had strong depth, and not sure he was comfortable on wet ground. Back on top of the ground for the resumption and has trialled well leading in.

7 Jor El (Bet Now: $15.00) is a big watch. The best version of 1 Regimental Band (Bet Now: $4.80) is certainly capable of blowing these away but she can be hit and miss. Kris Lees trained mare that was really disappointing during the Autumn, albeit probably wasn’t placed to advantage. Interesting she resumes in a race like this, trials leading in have been good and can sprint well fresh. Hopefully class gets her home.

4 Snippy Fox (Bet Now: $4.00) is certainly capable. Joe Pride trained mare that was awful first up at Kembla behind Rafha’s Choice. Freshened up and raced there again where she was a notable drifter in betting but found plenty under Collett and the photo finish went her way. Tick over trial was good and think she can measure up.

6 Magico Hombre (Bet Now: $8.50) is a Theresa Bateup trained son of Magic Albert that rises significantly in grade/depth, but I thought there was a bit of quality about his win at Taree last time out, showing good change up speed late to draw clear and win well. Harder here, but he’s race fit and a last start winner, so he’s likeable at odds.

Back onto a firmer deck, I’m keen on 6 Yamazaki (Bet Now: $9.00). Resumed in the Toy Show just under two weeks ago on soft ground in a fast run race and I thought she closed off really well behind Sweet Deal, mind you she only had two soft trials leading in, so she’s got improvement to come, and onto a dry deck, think she’s a great bet.

7 Emeralds (Bet Now: $3.00) is deserving of a blacktype win next to her name and she gets a golden chance here. Has been given a mini freshen up since bolting up at the midweeks at Canterbury when backed as if unbeatable and duly saluted under J Mac, who remains on for this assignment, which looks a good lead.

1 Miss Fabulass (Bet Now: $5.00) is a quality mare for Kris Lees that resumes. She has these on toast re class, but it will be a matter of where she is at fitness wise and how forward she is. Produced a career best prep in the Autumn, despite not winning, with the mare running second in the Group l Coolmore Classic. Has been sharp in both trials and given her record, she’s so well weighted.

I’m going the way of 4 The Lord Mayor (Bet Now: $8.50). Beaten a lip in the Grafton Cup before being freshened up and racing over the mile at Eagle Farm just under three weeks ago and I thought he was very good in defeat nearer the inside behind Skate To Paris. Up to 2100m, upside to come and I think if he can get to the outside of runners, he’ll be more effective.

Class will carry 1 Raheen House (Bet Now: $7.50) a long way here. Resumed in the Premiers Cup Prelude at Randwick on very testing ground and in a leader dominated race, he didn’t have much hope, so I’d be very forgiving of that effort behind Taikomochi. Much better suited here I feel and does have the class factor on his side.

The Jim/Greg Lee stable can throw up a rough result from time to time, especially with stayers, so while I doubt 7 Zacada (Bet Now: $46.00) wins, I could certainly include in multiples. Resumed in the Premiers Cup Prelude and the track was too wet for him when running last to Taikomochi. Better on firmer footing and at his best, he’s certainly up to this level.

4 Toro Toro (Bet Now: $4.20) is one of a number of lower benchmark horses that could try and press claims for a Kosciuszko berth, so I anticipate Stephen Jones will have him ready to go first up to impress potential slot holders. Did a really good job in four runs last time in, winning the first two. He seems a real fresh horse and was impressive in a trial win.

If 6 Rifles (Bet Now: $4.40) can stretch his brilliance to 1100m, he’s right in this. Brett Partelle trained gelding that resumed over 900m at Newcastle, and that short course racing is really his sweet spot. Loved the way he went through his gears in the straight to put them away. Just needs to go to 1100m and if he can, he’ll go close to winning.

12 Moccasin Miss (Bet Now: $13.00) tends to save her best for Wyong so think she can be a big improver here. Won well two back at this track before going to Gosford where she was wide no cover for the trip and couldn’t get into the race when down the track behind Coco Cuber. Back at Wyong and on firmer footing, she can bounce back for sure.
