4/4/2026 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Ascot, Roma Cup day

Ten races have been set down for Ascot this Saturday as the Autumn Carnival warms right up. The weather is fine, the track is soft (7) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

2 Peaceful Ruler (Bet Now: $3.50) is a beauty for Stephen Miller and confident he can measure up. Track/distance winner from the mideeeks last start, getting the suck run in behind before angling clear and knuckled down strongly when asked. He is one of hardest to beat.

3 Hasani (Bet Now: $10.00) is one of the more interesting runners on the card. Formerly with Team Williams, he is now with Summer Dickson. Ability wise, he’s the best horse in the race. Just depends if he’s ready, so watch betting.

5 Final Flush (Bet Now: $91.00) comes to town off the back of a maiden win at Pinjarra, leading throughout and giving nothing else a look in to win impressively. Good racing style and off a win, she should give a decent sight.

1 Bakeel (Bet Now: $4.60) is four weeks between runs since racing over this trip at Bunbury when off speed and failed to come on when down the track behind Avoidance. Hit and miss but his best is clearly good enough to take this out.

6 Influencing (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has a kind map in his corner to my eye to suggest he’s a danger. He ran fourth to Don’t Trust Judas in a much easier race last start, getting the suck run in behind and presented to win but just found one better. He commands some level of respect.

7 Dug Another (Bet Now: $10.00) Hole is four weeks between runs since racing over this trip at Bunbury. He got into a decent spot in transit near the speed and thought he was there to win but just couldn’t quite finish the job. Racing well and should be around the mark.

1 Stylish Lord (Bet Now: $7.00) has been kept on ice since Feb 28 over this track/distance. He attempted to lead throughout and gave a decent sight from the front but just didn’t quite have the answers for Fancy Red when third. Strikes a winnable race here, he’s hard to beat.

6 More Than Enuff (Bet Now: $19.00) looks to have returned well and is a key chance. He resumed over 1400m at Belmont last Wednesday where he got back to near last in the run and made up good ground without threatening when fourth. Fitter and up in trip, good upside, he’s right in the mix.

4 Blazing Emerald (Bet Now: $9.50) ran over 1500m two weeks back here and to the eye, she was plain behind Searchin Times after landing the 1/1, but I do think that maybe she is better ridden with a sit. If that can eventuate here, she can run a much improved race.

3 Rommel’s Goddess (Bet Now: $9.00) will do me here. She ran second to Don’t Trust Judas over 1400m here two weeks ago, getting a decent enough run in transit and loomed large to win but just couldn’t quite finish the job. Racing well and this looks well within reach.

8 Mangifera (Bet Now: $4.80) was unlucky not to win on Pinjarra Cup Day, driving hard from just off speed after getting held up when third to Gage Roads. Knocking on the door to to win and strikes a winnable race.

2 Crunchy Nut (Bet Now: $16.00) is three weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance. He got back off speed and kept chasing in the straight without really threatening behind Noble Connection. If within range, he’s dangerous.

8 Western Lady (Bet Now: $1.90) is the straight bat play here. She ran over 1800m here three weeks ago when off speed and chased with purpose in the straight but just couldn’t quite get there. The rise to 2200m should be fine, she is one of the hardest to beat.

2 Audio Boy (Bet Now: $4.40) is knocking on the door for Adam Durrant. He placed a fortnight back at this track/distance. He got into a decent spot in transit and tried hard but just lacked the killer blow to finish the job. Racing well and should be around the mark.

10 Lien Hyphen (Bet Now: $41.00) ran down the track in the same race Western Lady contested, won by The Jesters Son. She got back to near last in the run and was okay late without threatening. If she’s within range, I think she has the finale to be some sort of threat.

1 Don’t Trust Judas (Bet Now: $19.00) was an impressive winner over this track/distance two weeks ago, giving them a start and a beating in an impressive effort. He’s found winning form and he can certainly go on with it.

6 Westbound (Bet Now: $2.05) is a quality three year old for Michael Grantham that resumes. He did nice things in his first prep and looks a city class horse at the very least. Likely will spot them a start but will be quite strong at the end.

3 Tacito (Bet Now: $81.00) is three weeks between runs since a down the track effort at this track/distance when off speed and did clip heels, so forgive and forget the run. Prior efforts were sound so I wouldn’t be dismissing him.

1 Beatty (Bet Now: $2.15) is the best juvenile WA has seen this season IMO and confident he can stamp himself as #1 seed for the Karrakatta. He was dynamic in the Soring in two runs, looking all class in dominant displays. Very keen to see him resume despite the tricky draw.

4 Boy Crush (Bet Now: $6.00) is a Luke Fernie trained colt that resumes after a two run Summer prep to start his career, winning on debut before a placing over 1200m. Fresh at 1100m I like, he’ll press forward and be around the mark.

7 Afireofgidgeecoals (Bet Now: $10.00) steps up to 1100m after a win over 1000m here, getting the suck run in behind before angling to clear air and finished best to score. Good test here but off last start, I think he has to be respected.

2 Aurum Belle (Bet Now: $1.50) should take a power of beating here after an all the way in the Supremacy two weeks ago, leading throughout and she gave nothing else a look in. Harder here but a good racing style, hard fit and will take running down.

1 Maria Lucia (Bet Now: $4.60) has been given a mini freshen up since winning the WA Magic Millions, sitting off speed before being presented clear air and let down with purpose to score. Tricky draw, likely concedes a start but will motor late.

4 Here The Boom (Bet Now: $67.00) comes back to 1100m after a win over 1200m at Bunbury, giving them a start and a beating in a sharp display. Think she is more of a Sires horse but will be strong at the end and commands some level of respect.

6 Smooth Chino (Bet Now: $2.45) a star and could well stamp himself as a leading local contender for The Quokka. 6/6 to start his career, the latest win being in the Black Heart Bart. Good test here in his return but has trialled super, good racing style and we just don’t know how good he is.

2 Rope Them In (Bet Now: $6.50) had a mixed Summer Carnival. He looked the ideal Railway horse but they elected to go down the Winterbottom/Gold Rush path where he ran well without threatening. Trialled super and although he’ll spot them a start he should be strong at the end.

4 West Star (Bet Now: $8.00) is a Simon Miller trained gelding that resumes. He went to Melbourne in the Spring and didn’t quite measure up in two runs. He returns home and his best is clearly good enough to give this a shake.

6 Cannykev (Bet Now: $3.50) looks the straight bat play after a win two weeks ago at this track/distance, getting the suck run in behind before angling clear and finished best to score. Map ideally again, he should take beating.

5 Just Saint James (Bet Now: $6.00) is a Rob Gulberti trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since Dec 13 over 1200m here when down the track after getting back in the run. Looks to have trialled up well and can sprint sharp on the fresh side so watch betting.

1 Crippalenko (Bet Now: $6.50) ran fifth to Tycoon Harry two weeks back. He was keen in the run in behind and tried hard but just couldn’t quite finish the job. Back to this level, he’s a definite chance at odds.

NEXT BEST: Race Five Number 8 Western Lady

LONG SHOT: Race Four Number 3 Rommel’s Goddess
