Race 1. (13:25) Sharp Office Plate (c1) 2300m
I’m with 11 Kingdom Of Gold (Bet Now: $7.50) in the opener. His last couple of runs have come over this trip, two back running a closing fourth at Scone before racing here when a gutsy third to a handy pair in Aquielon and Monfelicity, with a big gap to fourth. That form looks to read well and gets a jockey upgrade.
2 Sound Of Cannons (Bet Now: $2.40) faces his easiest field since arriving from overseas. Resumed on the Kenso track and I thought he worked to the line pretty well late in the piece behind Main Stage against the race shape. He gets Bowman, drops to a very moderate Maiden/Class One…but he has only won the one race.
7 Lime And Sugar (Bet Now: $61.00) I can entertain for wider multiples. This mare plods around in these kind of races and is around the mark without winning. Ran fourth in the race mentioned above won by Aquielon so doubt she wins, but she could sneak a first four spot at odds.
Race 2. (14:00) Bella Group Serv. Beaumont Hcp 1400m
I’m pretty keen here on 4 Affogato Girl (Bet Now: $4.80) for Kacy Fogden. Didn’t think she was too bad in defeat two back in the Gold Pearl at the Gold Coast behind Miss Hellfire. She then went to 1400m at the Gold Coast with a break between runs on a bog track and she lapped it up, drawing clear to win and win well. Bred to swim, she showed that last time, and is in form, so hard to get away from her.
5 Victorine (Bet Now: $2.35) is knocking on the door to win one for James Cummings. Just not sure she appreciated racing around the tight Wyong track last time. Just took a while to wind up but was good late when a close up second. 1400m on the bigger track looks ideal and she’ll be strong late.
7 A Lot More Love (Bet Now: $4.80) is just under a month between runs for the Ryan/Alexiou camp since racing at Warwick Farm when just behind the speed and she tried hard, but had no answers for Robusto. Not sure how strong that form is, but have to respect the stable with their juveniles.
Race 3. (14:35) Kam-cool Refrigeration Mdn Hcp 1400m
Going to have the first of a couple of throw at the stumps at this meeting with 6 Behind The Storm (Bet Now: $11.00) for Jeremy Gask. She has been placed in both career outings. She was excellent against the bias on debut at Taree before going to Scone where she didn’t stop chasing in a good effort behind Alenia. Being out a Blevic mare, the wet track should be fine and draws to do no work.
1 Gwan So (Bet Now: $3.20) could easily blow this field away but I’d rather watch than back him to do it. I was red hot on him to win at his Australian debut at Goulburn but he let me down badly. Had a dream run in transit and it just looked a case of how far at the top of the straight, but he just couldn’t finish it off. Whether it was fitness, or he’s a milk drinker, not sure, but he does command respect with upside (you think) to come.
12 Galactic Angel (Bet Now: $11.00) has the talent to win. Probably hasn’t produced it this time in, the latest run coming here when back in the run and failing to come on in a plain effort. Wasn’t too bad at Canterbury the start prior and her overall form reads pretty well for a race like this.
Race 4. (15:10) Novocastrian Electrical Mdn 1200m
3 Barrichello (Bet Now: $3.40) for me. Chris Waller trained gelding that resumed at Canterbury when dragged back from the wide gate to find cover. He had to make a run by himself on the turn and loomed to win, but first up, condition just gave way. He should get a decent drag into the race here and prove hard to hold out.
7 Loch Eagle (Bet Now: $2.10) is a talented colt for Kris Lees that resumes. This guy hasn’t raced since the Spring Stakes over the mile here when far from disgraced in defeat behind Festival Dancer. His two trials to get ready have been strong to the eye and the Lees/Bowman combo is a partnership in form.
13 Oakfield Paperback (Bet Now: $19.00) is a knockout chance at a big price. Debuted in a strong maiden at Scone where she got a fair way back off the speed and was never really a threat, but didn’t mind the way she finished the race off behind Flying Annie. Fitter, up to 1200m, I think she has the potential to be dangerous.
Race 5. (15:50) Kloster Mtr Grp Posthaste-bm78 900m
1 Remlaps Gem (Bet Now: $3.40) is the best 900m horse in the business, winning 4/4 at the trip and I think he’ll make it 5/5. Latest run came during the Magic Millions Carnival when bolting up at this trip at the Gold Coast. Good fresh horse, in well after the claim and has great early toe.
2 Delexo (Bet Now: $4.40) is a much better horse on top of the ground IMO so the wet track here does concern me with him, but he does have upside and it was obvious that with clear air, he should have won at Randwick three weeks ago when luckless in the straight. Capital Reign was comfortably held on the line in a strong race subsequent to that, so the form hasn’t exactly been franked, but he’s got the upside and in the right camp for these kind of races.
4 Jerle (Bet Now: $9.00) is the one to look out for if they overdo it in front. This gelding resumes for James Cummings, having not raced since October 13 when a strong winner on wet ground at Warwick Farm. Two trials leading in have been strong, he’ll love the speed on in front and be good late.
Race 6. (16:30) New Zealand Bloodstock Mdn 1600m
2 Big Short (Bet Now: $3.80) is knocking on the door to break the maiden tag. Chris Waller trained three year old that ran over this trip at Gosford last time out where he got a mile back in the run but charged late to just miss out on the win when second. If the inside gate is used to advantage, he’ll take beating.
1 Whodat (Bet Now: $4.60) is similar to Big Short in the sense they are both close to a maiden win. He has placed in both runs this time in, the latest run being at Ipswich when a solid third over the mile at Ipswich. The first up run was a beauty and looks good form and off that, he commands respect.
10 Diamond Falls (Bet Now: $67.00) can be an improver at odds. Too bad to be true I thought when resuming at Goulburn, finishing double digit lengths away from the winner after getting a good run in transit. Bred to swim and getting a rise in trip suits. I could entertain her for multiples.
Race 7. (17:10) Newcastle Newmarket 1400m
I want to give 12 Dajraan (Bet Now: $5.50) another chance. He let me and many punters down last time out at Rosehill after such an impressive win at Warwick Farm. There are two schools of thought with him. He beat nothing at Warwick Farm, was flattered and then found out at Rosehill. Or, he’s a better horse when chasing rather than leading. I am thinking the latter, and the market support in both runs has been very strong.
4 Aramayo (Bet Now: $9.00) is a Chris Waller trained gelding that resumes. He has always teased to be a good horse, and went very close in an Epsom, but the teasing has to stop and he now has to put wins on the board. Good fresh horse with one soft trial under the belt, but Bowman booked fresh says to me there is some level of intent.
5 Chat (Bet Now: $13.00) doesn’t want it too wet but I think he’s come back well. Far from disgraced behind Lost And Running in the Southern Cross in a good effort given the race shape and the fact he was first up. Normally is a third up horse and can run flat second up, but he does bring the strong form line.
Race 8. (17:50) Charlestown Square (bm64) 1200m
9 Flash Point (Bet Now: $7.50) is one of the better $15 chances I’ve come across. I can’t see how she doesn’t run well. Heavily backed two back on the Kenso track and just found them a bit sharp. Went to Gosford last time and gee it was a horror watch if you were on. She should have gone very close to winning but had no luck in the straight. Bowman on, good draw, proven on wet ground…I think she’s the each way gamble of the day.
14 Zelady Luck (Bet Now: $3.40) is a daughter of Snitzel for the WaterBott camp that resumes. This girl made her debut at Goulburn back in August when a dominant winner, beating Mayrose, who has since gone on to win a couple of races and is potentially Stakes class. Six winners have come out of that maiden. Three trials to get ready, market will tell you if she’s good to go.
13 What A Peach (Bet Now: $20.00) is big odds for a handy mare. Four wide the trip first up at Scone but was far too good for them. Then went to Canterbury when four wide no cover, which is fate sealed really, so be totally forgiving of that. Blinkers first time and is bred to handle the wet ground.
