Doomben will conduct a nine event card on Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (12:13) Become A Brc Member Hcp (78) 2200m
7 Connecticut (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on the quick back up for Team Geran after a win last Friday on Lismore Cup Day where the market said he was a moral and despite a few nervous moments, class kicked in when clear and he was far too good. He’s found winning form, he can go on with it.
3 Kirkeby (Bet Now: $SP.00) was solid late behind Akkadian Emperor a fortnight back at the Gold Coast. He got a fair way out of his ground and while he was never threatening, he kept chasing and was pretty good late in the piece. Back in trip should be fine and can settle much closer.
4 El Jasor (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes back to 2200m after racing two weeks back over 2400m at the Gold Coast behind Akkadian Emperor. He got into a decent spot in transit and did try hard but just couldn’t quite get there when third, beaten three lengths. No horse of that quality here and back to 2200m, he appeals.
Race 2. (12:48) Fillies And Mares No Metro Wins Hcp 1350m
1 Imposant (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the good thing across Australia for the weekend. She bumped into Baby Winx aka Autumn Glow in the Toy Show first up. Freshened, then went to the Tibbie when last in the run in what was a barrier trial and was never a factor. Now drops to this level, she gets the claim, hard fit now…she is a good thing.
10 One Beat No Beat (Bet Now: $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance. She got off speed but kept chasing and was good in defeat without threatening behind Margot’s Deel. If she can settle closer and be within range, she can win.
5 Freeland (Bet Now: $SP.00) commands respect after a midweek win over this trip at Ipswich. She gave them a start and a beating, letting down strongly late from off speed to get the job done. Hasn’t quite measured up in town previously but overall, this isn’t a deep contest.
Race 3. (13:23) Rq Supports Safety In Racing Hcp (90) 1600m
4 Yet He Moves (Bet Now: $SP.00) has been given a four week freshen up since a track/distance win, giving them a start and a beating in an impressive performance. He does seem to race best on the fresh side and loves racing at the mile. One of the hardest to beat.
3 Bullion Boy (Bet Now: $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance. He got into a decent spot in transit just off the speed and loomed to win but just found a couple better when a close up third to Kronenbourg. Racing well, in form, he’s one of the hardest to beat.
2 Galifianakis (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Jack Bruce trained stayer that resumes. He hasn’t raced since Aug 2 when a winner over this trip at Eagle Farm, giving them a start and a beating. Tick over trial was good, residual fitness, he’s in the mix.
Race 4. (13:58) Spring Carnival Book Now Plate (C2) 1350m
1 Boom Shot (Bet Now: $SP.00) isn’t the most reliable horse going around but he’s sneaky going well I think and getting to 1350m here should be fine. He ran behind Lady Lucifer a few weeks back at Doomben. He got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he kept chasing and was pretty good late in the piece. I’d say he’s a contender against these.
19 Bonjour Rupert (Bet Now: $SP.00) is knocking on the door for Grant Allard. He ran over 1200m at the Sunny Coast just under three weeks ago. He got back in the run but worked home with real purpose late when third, beaten just over two lengths. Rising to 1350m is fine and should be strong at the end.
9 No Name Frank (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1350m after resuming two weeks back at the Gold Coast over 1200m when just looking in need of the run behind Surprise Honey. Has run well at the track/distance previously and this isn’t a deep contest.
Race 5. (14:33) Senq Qtis Three-Year-Old Hcp 1600m
1 Dushenka (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came over 1400m here two weeks ago at the Gold Coast. She was a bit flat footed when the sprint went on but she picked up and was pretty good late in the piece. Off that, she is one of the leading contenders.
2 Profoundly (Bet Now: $SP.00) was ridden with intent two weeks back at the Gold Coast, landing near the speed and she gave her all but just didn’t quite have the change up speed to win. Like her up to the mile…ideally she gets ridden with a sit and have a bunny to chase.
3 Lonesome Soul (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a last start track/distance winner, albeit at the midweeks, but it was a deserved win. He was racing well without winning but that changed last start when giving them a start and a beating. He’s in the mix.
Race 6. (15:08) U&U Recruitment Plate (C3) 1600m
I think 9 Brave Call (Bet Now: $SP.00) can resume a winner for Kris Lees. He is first up, having not raced since June 7 when handling a wet track at Newcastle best in a slogging go to the line. Fresh at the mile I do like and he’s trialled well. Happy to have him on top.
15 Margot’s Deel (Bet Now: $SP.00) is heading in the right direction for Jason Edwards. Only a last start maiden winner but it came over 1350m here and got better as the race went on, winning impressively. 1600m should be fine and she is the one on the up.
8 Trevenson (Bet Now: $SP.00) is in the mix. Surprised most with a win two back at Eagle Farm before going to the Sunny Coast when off speed and kept chasing but was held when second. Hard fit, in well after the claim, dangerous.
Race 7. (15:43) No Metro Win Handicap 1350m
6 Great Aspirations (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a key chance. Tony Gollan trained gelding that ran over 1350m a few weeks back at Doomben when on speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through when third to Take A Picture. Good racing style and strikes a winnable race.
1 Pareto (Bet Now: $SP.00) has found winning form and he can go on with it, the win coming at the midweeks at Doomben when on speed and credit to him, he was there to be beaten but he found under pressure to fend them off and score. Leading contender.
3 Larrkin Rouge (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the watch horse. He did a DNP three weeks back here where he didn’t leave the gates. Subsequent trial was pretty good and off prior efforts, he is good enough to take this out.
Race 8. (16:18) Moreton Hire Hcp (70) 1110m
7 Negotiations (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Ciaron Maher trained gelding that is three weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance. He got off speed and loomed to win but just couldn’t quite finish his race off behind Troika when fourth. His best sees him go awfully close so I’ll give him another chance.
2 Surprise Honey (Bet Now: $SP.00) is two weeks between runs since winning at the Gold Coast. She led throughout and credit to her, she was there to be beaten but she found under pressure to fend them off. Good racign style and looks suited at 1110m.
17 Guac On (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Kelly Schweida trained three year old that resumes. He did nice things when last in work, ending the campaign with a midfield effort in the Magic Millions National Classic. Trial work has been sharp, watch betting.
Race 9. (16:57) Ladbrokes Big Bets (85) 1110m
13 Simbu (Bet Now: $SP.00) was four weeks between runs when racing at the Gold Coast two weeks ago. He was wide throughout, with cover, before angling wider and was good late behind Maximum Output. Better for the run, can settle closer, dangerous.
7 Navyonthehighway (Bet Now: $SP.00) was contesting Group races in Sydney this time last year. She was quite plain in the Winter after such a promising Spring, the latest run seeing her finish midfield in the Gai Waterhouse Classic. Looks to have trialled well, watch betting.
5 Epic Proportions (Bet Now: $SP.00) is several weeks between runs since racing over 1200m at The Valley when near the speed and just battled late behind La Fracas. Back a fair bit in depth, he can run a much improved race.
