Winx has been scratched in the Chelmsford Stakes (1600m), which highlights a fab card at headquarters, but the quality across the program should cover her absence. The weather is fine, the track is heavy (9) and the rail is out six for the entire circuit.

[crownbetoffer]

Race One (12:10) : Schweppes Handicap (85) 1600m:

Back me: 1 Signposted (Bet Now: $2.20) has been in fab form this time in for John Thompson, winning several on the trot, including last time out at Canterbury where he was ridden a treat on speed by McDougall and the horse bolted up. Hardest test to date here, but is going really well and is hard to ignore.
Big Danger: 5 So Willie (Bet Now: $2.60) is a bit of a non winner, but with the scratchings I think he gets his chance to win another race. He made up a stack of ground over 2000m here last time out behind stablemate and the in form Dubaiinstyle. Back to the mile suits, Bowman steers and he handles all conditions.
Roughie: 3 Dee I Cee (Bet Now: $10.00) is a talented stayer that resumes for the Waterhouse/Bott yard. Didn’t win last prep but he ran some really good races in a couple of handy races, including his first up run last time in at the track/distance behind Testashadow. Trial was okay and he does have the quality factor.

Race Two (12:45) : TAB Supports Jockeys Trust Handicap (78) 2000m:

Back Me: Going for some value in the shape of 2 Thunder Down Under (Bet Now: $8.50). Made his Australian debut at Canterbury behind King’s Officer where he was just okay before coming to Rosehill where he was a real eye catcher late behind stablemate Dubaiinstyle. He has a stack of upside and will have no trouble with the 2000m.
Big Danger: 4 Dubaiinstyle (Bet Now: $1.85) was a bit hard to trust but he has put it all together now, winning his last two starts impressively, the latest coming at Rosehill over this trip three weeks back when holding on to beat Firebird Flyer, who failed last week but is at the end of her prep. Seems to like racing at Randwick and this isn’t a strong race. Hard to beat.
Roughie: 8 Zero To Ten (Bet Now: $8.50) might have started $101 in the Rowley Mile last time out at Hawkesbury but gee he have a stack of cheek I thought behind McCreery in what was a really solid effort. First go beyond the mile on a heavy track is the obvious worry, but gets the services of Deanne Panya and only carries 51.5kg.

Race Three (13:20) : Daily Telegraph Ming Dynasty Quality 1400m:

Back Me: 3 Swear (Bet Now: $4.40) creates plenty of interest here. Team Hawkes runner who created a big impression on debut during the standalone program at Hawkesbury when winning and history shows that race produces stars. Trials have been quiet but I am tipping him to run a beauty.
Big Danger: 4 High Mist (Bet Now: $3.70) ran some really good races during the middle part of Winter without winning, most notably behind Morton’s Fork and Golden Organic. He trialled at Warwick Farm last week and looked pretty good without doing a great deal. Hard to beat.
Roughie: 7 Bit Dusty (Bet Now: $6.00) debuted at Beaumont-Newcastle a tick over two weeks ago in what looked a pretty hot maiden and he got the job done, leading throughout to win narrowly but impressively. This isn’t a strong Ming Dynasty, but he has the run under the belt, maps well, trained on the track and even though he was on debut, he did show fight that day.

Race Four (13:55) : TAB Highway Handicap (Class 3) 1400m:

Back Me: 1 Galaxy Warrior (Bet Now: $2.40) has the potential to be a city class horse for sure and that was evident in his first up win at Narromine where he dashed clear over 1200m to win by nearly five lengths. He ran in a Highway at the end of last prep at Rosehill and ran a close up second, but clearly looks to be going better now. The one to beat.
Big Danger: 11 Grand Rouge (Bet Now: $9.00) is in really good form at the moment for Highway master Terry Robinson but he just can’t quite crack it for a win. Loomed to win at Rosehill but had a devil of a time to get past About Time and had to settle for a close up third. 1400m is his go I think, and provided he has taken no harm from the incident here a fortnight back, he’ll take some beating.
Roughie: 3 New Divide (Bet Now: $17.00) did a pretty good job in a Highway over the mile here a fortnight back where he sat wide most of the way and stuck on gamely behind Bootlegging, beaten 2.5L. The negative is that the winner failed badly at Wagga on Tuesday as a short priced favourite. The positives are gate one and McDonald steering.

Race Five (14:35) : The Mostyn Copper Croup Handicap (92) 1400m:

Back Me: I think if 3 Zin Zan Eddie (Bet Now: $7.50) is ever going to win again, it’ll be here. Bit disappointing I thought last time out at Eagle Farm behind Beckham but he returns to Randwick, back on a heavy track and most notably, the 3kg off for Innes Jr is a big, big tick. Gets his chance.
Big Danger: 2 Testashadow (Bet Now: $7.00) rises big time in weight but drops significantly in grade after a super win three weeks back at Rosehill in the Spring Preview, and the ride from Deanne Panya was outstanding, especially with the lightweight. The quality is here, so the weight is an issue, but it’s hard to ignore last start.
Roughie: 7 Torgersen (Bet Now: $11.00) resumed here a fortnight back and was unlucky not to finish closer behind Super Tycoon, getting held up a touch in the straight when having something to offer. Not sure he would have won, but he certainly finishes closer. Better off with the run under the belt, hard to beat.

Race Six (15:10) : Fitzy & Wippas Fast & Furious Stakes 1200m:

Back Me: 8 Awoke (Bet Now: $5.00) creates some interest here. She has been given a little break since starting her career in the Winter, winning on debut at Beaumont-Newcastle before producing a nice turn of foot to get the job done at Rosehill. Recent trial was very good and though I doubt she can beat Omei Sword, I am sure she’ll be a force later on in the Spring.
Big Danger: 7 Foxplay (Bet Now: $8.00) hasn’t raced since running second to Awoke in that Rosehill race mentioned above where she loomed to win the race but the 58kg steadier told on her late. Trialled well at Rosehill a couple of weeks back and she is a very capable type. Don’t dismiss her.
Roughie: 9 Rebel Miss (Bet Now: $18.00) has to be respected enormously here. Hasn’t raced since late July when bolting up at Doomben after being backed as if unbeatable and ran/won accordingly. The two runs prior were both in handy races where the form has held up, and even though this is a step up, I think she is a definite winning chance.

Race Seven (15:50) : Tatts Club Chelmsford Stakes 1600m:

Back Me: Gee 3 Hartnell (Bet Now: $2.70) was excellent in the Warwick Stakes behind Winx. That was his first run since an injury interrupted Autumn and he showed really good dash late to grab second. Ticking over beautifully towards the Melbourne Spring and while I highly doubt he’ll turn the tables on the great mare, with normal luck, he’ll place again.
Big Danger: The cards fall very nicely for 8 Prized Icon (Bet Now: $1.80) now that Winx is out. His first up run in the Up And Coming with the 61kg was more than satisfactory I thought given there was obvious improvement left. Tumbles down to 50kg now, looks the leader, and gee he’ll take some running down.
Roughie: 1 Preferment (Bet Now: $11.00) is back for Chris Waller and I think is a must for exotics. He hasn’t raced since finishing down the track in the Queen Elizabeth behind Lucia Valentina where he just didn’t handle the wet track. Back now and I think he has trialled very nicely. Obviously whatever he does he will improve on, but I am sure he will sprint well fresh.

Race Eight (16:30) : Tatts Club Tramway Stakes 1400m:

Back Me: 9 Dibayani (Bet Now: $4.20) looked very good at the jump outs prior to resuming in the Auries Star where he produced a lovely return when closing off well for third to Sooboog. He pushed Winx very hard in these early Spring races last season and I am convinced he is going much better this time around.
Big Danger: Huge, huge fan of 2 Happy Clapper (Bet Now: $4.40). Though he didn’t win in the Autumn, he really came of age and stamped himself as one of the best milers in the country with an excellent third to Winx in the Doncaster, and of course the form has well and truly held up with Azkadellia also. His trials have been super…the negative is that we know he is being set for the Epsom, so how forward will he be?
Roughie: 7 Sons Of John (Bet Now: $14.00) is the good roughie in the race. This time last year he nearly beat Winx and since she started her winning sequence, he has come closest to beating her. Trialled ordinary in the Autumn and ran accordingly, but this time in he has trialled well. Big watch.

Race Nine (17:10) : James Boags Premium Concorde Stakes 1000m:

Back Me: Relying on the class getting the job done with 1 Japonisme (Bet Now: $2.40). He ran some cracking races during the Autumn/Winter, most of which were at the highest level where he ran so well against some high class horses. Trials have been pretty good and he is well weighted I think.
Big Danger: 10 Hidden Pearl’s (Bet Now: $3.00) both runs this time in have been over 1000m here and both times she has been dominant, albeit in benchmark/class six races. Takes on the big boys now and has to stretch out to 1200m, which are the negatives…but the positive, and the key one, is just that she is explosive and her brilliance might just be enough.
Roughie: 11 Felines (Bet Now: $9.00) ran over this track/distance a fortnight back where she closed off strongly late when a close up third to Southern Legend in what looks to be a potentially hot form rave. Saves her best for here and she does have the fitness edge.

BEST BET: Race Eight Number 9 Dibayani

NEXT BEST: Race Four Number 1 Galaxy Warrior
