Racing continues at Eagle Farm this Saturday where the feature race is the George Moore Stakes (1200m). The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out five metres for the entire circuit.

Race One (13:27) : Qimr Berghofer Medical Research Institute Handicap 2200m:
Back Me: 1 Emerald City (Bet Now: $2.20) should be continuing the picket fence here. He isn’t spanking his rivals but he is just simply too good for them, the latest coming a fortnight back at this track/distance when proving far too good for his rivals. Similar size field here and he just continues to get the job done. I don’t see anything changing here.
Big Danger: 4 Meteorologist (Bet Now: $7.50) ran second to Emerald City in that race mentioned above where he sat back near last in the run and tracked up Emerald City all the way but just couldn’t match it with him. Highly doubt he will turn the tables, but that is the right form reference and outside the winner, he was clearly the best from that.
Long Shot: 5 Pop ‘N’ Scotch (Bet Now: $8.50) attempted to lead all the way in the Emerald City race and he plugged away okay despite being a beaten horse at the top of the straight. I don’t think leading is his go. Better when he has a bunny to chase and I think if that eventuates here, he can get closer to Emerald City…beating him is another matter.
Race Two (14:02) : Naturally Australian Meat & Game Plate 1000m:
Back Me: 8 Dream Kisses (Bet Now: $5.00) looks the clear horse to beat here and is my early pick for the Magic Millions Classic. She looked to do a fair bit wrong in two runs earlier on in the season, but gee she let down like a good horse when racing over this track/distance on October 15. She will stretch out in trip no doubt, and has eyes on the major prize, so she could be vulnerable here fitness wise, but she has these covered class/ability wise.
Big Danger: 9 I Am Venus (Bet Now: $6.00) was unwanted in betting when debuting here on October 22 but this filly was quite impressive to the eye, showing a lovely turn of foot from off the pace and finishing off with real purpose to get the job done. Been given a break since then, and she draws to sit much closer in the run. A definite/major threat.
Long Shot: 2 Clairvue (Bet Now: $12.00) debuted over this track/distance on October 29 where he was kept pretty safe in the market and after showing terrific early toe to lead, he gave a really good kick in the straight but was nabbed near the peg by Arrestar. Probably needs to improve off that to feature here but you always have to respect any juvenile the stable saddles up.
Race Three (14:37) : Dean Webb Memorial Handicap (80) 1825m:
Back Me: 9 Speed Gonzales (Bet Now: $4.20) ran over the mile at Doomben three weeks back and finished off his race strongly late but just couldn’t quite get the job done and had to settle for a narrow second to L’Entrecote. Up to the 1800m is a big tick and he will love getting onto the bigger track and surroundings that Eagle Farm has to offer.
Big Danger: 7 Dream Finnish (Bet Now: $3.70) ran second last in that L’Entrecote race and she was just plain awful after being heavily backed late to win, she was the first horse beat on the turn. She is much better than that and her prior form would see her go very close to knocking this field off here.
Long Shot: 1 Blue Lion (Bet Now: $4.60) ran over the mile here a fortnight back and he was a real eye catcher I thought, making up really good ground late to run fifth to Top Tone, beaten just under two lengths. He comes here with enormous upside, and the 1800m will really suit this Stakes performer. 58kg also with the claim does see him well placed.
Race Four (15:13) : Don Alroe & Sons Handicap (80) 1825m:
Back Me: 6 Saga Miss (Bet Now: $3.30) is a mare who is absolutely low flying this time in for the Hubert camp. She won three races on the trot in impressive fashion before being given a three week freshen up and racing over the mile here a fortnight back where she got a long way back in the run and finished off strongly to run a close up second to Top Tone, who had a great time in front and kicked on. Up to 1800m here suits, fitter and is well weighted given the form she is in. Ticks the boxes for me.
Big Danger: 2 Lord Coconuts (Bet Now: $4.60) came with a well timed run to win three back over the mile here and in two runs since, I dare say you won’t be sending Robbie Fradd a Christmas Card because his two efforts on this horse have been ugly viewing. Clearly looking for further which he gets here and he was another finishing off strongly in that Top Tone race.
Long Shot: 1 Darci Be Good (Bet Now: $18.00) comes back to Qld after a two run stint in NSW, starting off with a solid sixth behind Moher at Rosehill before going to the Goulburn and getting back in a leader dominated affair but was far from disgraced. Getting to a trip which should suit him here and if they go hard in front, look for this horse to finish off late.
Race Five (15:48) : McInnes Wilson Lawyers Plate 1200m:
Back Me: All things being equal, 1 Winning Rupert (Bet Now: $1.55) should be taking this race out. He created a big impression in two runs this way during the early part of the Winter Carnival, winning on debut at the Sunshine Coast before doing plenty wrong in the Champagne Classic yet still proved far too good. His three trials leading in have all been high class and really, he is just better than these. Happy to take any price.
Big Danger: 12 Doubt Defying (Bet Now: $15.00) is a Not A Single Doubt gelding that resumes for Steve O’Dea. He had three runs to kick off his career during the Winter, which ended with a strong win at the Gold Coast where he was odds on. He showed a bit of promise in that first prep and I think a fast run 1200m here fresh will really suit his racing pattern.
Long Shot: 3 Crack Me Up (Bet Now: $12.00) resumed over 1000m here a fortnight back and just looked to be in need of the run when running fourth to Another Slipper after doing some work on speed. He ran behind Winning Rupert in the Champagne Classic, so I doubt he will turn the tables here, but he has the run under the belt and will be better suited at 1200m.
Race Six (16:28) : Walking On Sunshine Foundation Handicap (Class 6) 1500m:
Back Me: 5 Man Of His Word (Bet Now: $2.30) ran over 1400m here a fortnight ago and gee if you backed him…I’m sorry to bring it up. Quite simply, he should have won, but just had no luck at all in the straight when appearing to have plenty to offer. The extra 100m is perfect for him, and I think if he can get to the outside and get clear running with no interruptions, he just about takes care of this lot.
Big Danger: 1 Heart Of A Warrior (Bet Now: $5.00) resumed over 1400m here a fortnight back and tried hard all the way but just couldn’t quite get the job done when a narrow sixth to Big Decision, beaten under a length. He has a tidy second up record and despite being asked to carry topweight, he has a touch of class and quality about him and draws to map really well.
Long Shot: 6 Reckless Abandon (Bet Now: $17.00) is a bit of a tease but has been a let down this time in. He ran down the track over the mile here last time out behind Top Tone where he was sitting near the speed and weakened out of the finish late. He is much better than that, and I think ridden with more of a sit, on a big track, he can fire at a price.
Race Seven (17:08) : Stanton Plate (Class 3) 1200m:
Back Me: 18 Lady Duporth (Bet Now: $15.00) was strong in defeat two back at Doomben behind Lady Jetsetter before racing in the McAlpine Classic here last Saturday where she, like most drawn inside, struggled on the shifty/sticky track. Back in depth and back onto a firmer track are two big ticks, stable is going well, as is the rider and she draws to get the run of the race.
Big Danger: 2 Brooklyn Storm (Bet Now: $4.00) is a horse in really good form Bjorn Baker but just can’t quite crack it for a win. He ran over this track/distance a fortnight back and attempted to lead all the way at a strong tempo and for the most part, he gave a really good kick but was nabbed right on the peg by Perfect Dare. He won’t get it easy here also, but he’s hard fit and clearly knocking on the door to win.
Long Shot: 11 Havasay (Bet Now: $9.50) resumed a fortnight back at this track/distance in a similar race where he was caught four wide no cover for the trip and that sealed his fate pretty much behind the above average Fiery Heights. Draws horribly here, but the patient hands of D Browne should ensure he gets, finds cover and look to ambush out wide late in the piece because we know on previous form he is quite capable.
Race Eight (17:48) : IPG Connect George Moore Stakes 1200m:
Back Me: 8 Too Good To Refuse (Bet Now: $3.00) just picks himself here IMO. Flashed home fresh at Doomben behind Prompt Return before going to the Keith Noud at this track/distance where he sat back off a hot speed before being presented into the clear and he just savaged the line to spank them. I can only see upside with him here and I think only bad luck will beat him here.
Big Danger: 1 Big Money (Bet Now: $10.00) is the big watch here. Quality galloper for Rod Northam who performed okay during the Winter in Adelaide/Brisbane, including a down the track effort in the Stradbroke. He has had the one trial to prepare, which came at Gosford when finishing off under a hold behind Princefamous, who came out and won fresh, so that’s a tick, and he does perform well fresh, plus there should be good speed for him to ambush late.
Long Shot: 9 Trubia (Bet Now: $10.00) is a very handy galloper that was touted by many, myself included, as a possible lightweight Stradbroke contender, but when it came to qualifying for the race, he just couldn’t get the job done and from there the prep looked indifferent. No trials leading in, but he has class, quality and is an absolute bomb when produced fresh.
Race Nine (18:24) : Peak Sports And Spine Centre Mode Plate 1200m:
Back Me: 7 Suspenders (Bet Now: $9.00) clearly on top for me here. Quality filly for Gerald Ryan who strung together a couple of impressive wins, one of which against multiple city winners, before going to the Brian Crowley and making up ground late behind Spright, who came out and spanked them on Oaks Day. Loved her trial last week at Rosehill and she looks the one for me here.
Big Danger: 1 Candika (Bet Now: $12.00) is a classy filly that resumes for the O’Dea yard. She contested the main two year old races during the Winter, with the prep ending with an eighth in the JJ Atkins behind Sacred Elixir. No trials, but she flies fresh and there should be a hot speed in front of her here, so she’ll get her chance to run them down.
Long Shot: 14 Lipstick Lover (Bet Now: $19.00) ran at the midweeks at Doomben on October 26 where she sat off speed before Fradd eased her wide and she let down powerfully over the concluding stages to win impressively. This race appears to have more depth, but now that she has got the win under the belt, she could go right on with it. Knockout hope.
BEST BET: Race Nine Number 7 Suspenders
NEXT BEST: Race Five Number 1 Winning Rupert
VALUE: Race Seven Number 18 Lady Duporth
