31/10/2020 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Ascot, Prince Of Wales Stakes day

The Ascot Carnival continues this Saturday with the Prince Of Wales Stakes (1000m) and Asian Beau (1400m) being key references towards the Winterbottom and Railway respectively. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

1 Charleton Eddie (Bet Now: $2.30) is a Team Casey trained three year old that comes through the race mentioned above that Clairvoyance won. This guy had the suck run in behind the speed and he tried. Just lacked the class. Highly doubt he wins, but shocked if he didn’t run second or third, especially with the gate he has.

5 Chantorque (Bet Now: $1.90) is a beauty. Russell Stewart trains this filly, who resumed at this track/distance back on october 10 when getting the box seat sit behind the pace before getting clear air late and under a heavy ride from McGruddy, she proved too good. Small field helps her claims and she potentially gets a soft time of it outside the leader.

3 All Day Session (Bet Now: $11.00) is an Ashley Maley trained gelding that can cause problems here. He had a really good juvenile season, which ended with a close up second to Clairvoyance, so he can match it with her at his best, and the recent trial to get ready was quite good to the eye, so really keen to see how he resumes.

2 Time To Sizzle (Bet Now: $2.20) has to stretch her brilliance to 1200m and if she can do that with flying colours, think she wins here. Was an electric first up win at Belmont over 1000m, producing the best last 400m of the meeting. Seems to save her best for shorter trips, but did place in her lone run at 1200m. Think she’s the way to go against these.

11 Western Rhythm (Bet Now: $7.00) is a very interesting runner. Handy mare who hasn’t raced since breaking her maiden status at Belmont back in July when too good and confirming early promise. Resumes without a public trial, but first up in town, suspect she will be ready to go, but market will be the guide as to where the fitness levels are at.

5 Pink ‘N’ Gray (Bet Now: $20.00) is a very honest gelding that is usually around the mark, put himself on speed and try hard, which is what he did here two weeks ago, running a game third to Igarashi. Doesn’t win out of turn, but think he should run a top four finish and continue to pick up prizemoney with a good racing pattern.

In the corner of 5 Truly Great (Bet Now: $1.45) for Team Williams. Resumed over the mile here three weeks ago where he sat off the speed before angling into clear air and he was really strong late, getting the job done under a good ride from Chris Parnham. Fitter, up in trip, with upside to come, he’s the one to beat clearly.

2 Kelly’s Callisto (Bet Now: $9.50) is a little query at a strong 1800m, but the map is kind to this Adam Durrant galloper. Got conditions to suit when he raced over the mile here a fortnight back and was able to cling on and win. Think if he’s going to beat Truly Great, he will need to get a very soft time of it near the front.

10 British Bessy (Bet Now: $19.00) might need one more, but she’s got enough quality to be around the mark. Sharon Miller trained mare that resumed in the Kelly’s Callisto race mentioned above when off the moderate speed and tried hard, but the tempo was against her. Has got the class to go well here. Just wants a more genuine tempo.

4 Heavens Gift (Bet Now: $3.90) looks one of the better gambles on the card. Holly Locke trained mare that resumed over 1400m here two weeks ago where she didn’t really get clear air as early as what Noske would have liked, but really liked the way she found the line late. Like her up in trip and with clear air early, she will take a power of beating.

7 Notorious One (Bet Now: $2.30) is a Team Gangemi trained gelding that won his first two career outings before having a mini freshen up. Raced over the mile here and probably just lacked that race fitness, but was good late. Think a rise in trip would be ideal, but he will improve now he has that run under the belt, and he does have a touch of quality about him.

1 Deception Game (Bet Now: $14.00) will be near the speed and trying hard. Adam Durrant trained gelding that attempted to lead throughout over this track/distance a fortnight ago and he did try hard, but couldn’t quite finish it off when fourth to Kelly’s Callisto. Will run an honest race…does he have the class?

She’s got an awful racing pattern, but 7 Miss Frost (Bet Now: $4.40) does have a booming finish on her and hopefully she’s within range. Resumed at this track/distance where she was back near last in the run and never really a winning hope but loved the way she closed off. Just hope she doesn’t spot them too big of a start.

5 Tommy Blue (Bet Now: $2.20) is a talented mare for the Simon Miller camp that resumes. This girl hasn’t raced since April 11 at Ascot when leading and did try hard, but couldn’t quite finish it off late and had to settle for a second to stablemate Son Of A God. Trialled well leading in…hard to beat, but she’s short enough.

6 Ziebell (Bet Now: $15.00) back to 1000m should see her run a bold race. Led throughout to win over 1100m at Northam last start. Got the staggers late but had set up a big enough break to fend them off and win. Back to 1000m is a positive and she has great early toe, so think she can cross, lead, and give a bold sight for her fans.

Fitter and up to 1200m I do like for the Simon Miller trained 4 Niccovi (Bet Now: $2.60). He resumed over 1000m here two weeks ago where the market said he had three legs and while he didn’t win, he ran a pretty good race I thought when third to Elite Street. He’s suited up to 1200m and with the run under the belt, he’ll take some beating.

8 Sherpa Lass (Bet Now: $9.00) is four weeks between runs for the Dan Morton camp since resuming during the Kalgoorlie Carnival over 1100m where she was a notable drifter in betting and while she didn’t win, thought she ran well when a close up third to Some Sort. She’ll take good improvement from that and loves racing at Ascot.

7 Sweet Dreamin’ (Bet Now: $20.00) doesn’t have the best of second up records but does draw gate one and Mitch Pateman gets on well with him. Resumed at Northam and worked home okay without threatening when third to Ziebell. Down in the weights, an inside gate, think he’ll get every chance to change that poor second up record.

6 Mervyn (Bet Now: $8.50) looks a great gamble here. Luke Fernie trained speed demon that should lead this field up for fun and he’ll give an almighty sight. That’s what he did two weeks ago in the Crawford, looking all over a winner but was nabbed near the peg by Indian Pacific. Should lead these comfortably and take some running down.

4 Valour Road (Bet Now: $5.50) gets Blinkers first time, perhaps as a last resort to try and improve him leading into the Winterbottom. He was well supported late when resuming in the Crawford but didn’t find a great deal and was quite disappointing I thought. He’s better than that. Drawn wide, but deserves another chance.

2 Malibu Style (Bet Now: $7.50) is an absolute beauty for Neville Parnham who returns to WA after a really good stint in Victoria, where he was around the mark more often than not. He has a great record at Ascot and does save his best for 1000m, so I think if he’s going to win a race during this Carnvial, this is going to be it.

9 Inspirational Girl (Bet Now: $2.15) can confirm herself as a Railway contender with a win here. Good test for her, but I think she’s more than up to this level. Ran over this track/distance three weeks ago and gave her rivals a belting, sprinting hard from off the pace to win with something in hand. She’s classy and confident she’ll measure up.

Very wary of 3 Cup Night (Bet Now: $4.00). I think he’s nearly #1 seed for the locals when it comes to the Railway and really keen to see how he goes here now he has drawn a decent barrier. First two runs this time in, he has drawn wide and been forced to ease back to last and find the line. If the gate is used to advantage, he’ll take some beating.

8 Too Close The Sun (Bet Now: $26.00) likely has eyes towards the Perth Cup, but he does have class/quality. He went to Victoria as a promising horse but after the prep, came out of it a Stakes winner and a multiple Country Cups winner. Not sure he’s sharp enough to beat these, but keen to see how he goes from a Perth Cup perspective.

14 The Fugazi (Bet Now: $6.00) for me in the get out. The Gangemi team trains this gelding, who resumes, having not raced since August 10 at Belmont when a solid fourth to Snowchino over the mile. Been given a good break and thought his recent trial win was excellent. Hopefully gate one is used to advantage and if so, he’ll take some beating.

9 Position Of Power (Bet Now: $9.00) is an absolute beauty for David Harrison. He was three weeks between runs when racing at this track/distance a fortnight ago. Backed with confidence late and Paul Harvey seemed to give him every chance near the speed, just failing to fend off Bad Wolf in the last few strides. Going well this guy and hard to beat once again.

Great to see 1 Eleven Seconds (Bet Now: $46.00) back at the races. The Gangemi stable trains this guy, who hasn’t raced since March 2018 when a close up fourth in a Listed race. Has had two trials to get ready off a long lay off. Whatever he does here, he’ll improve on, but he does have class and the stable can get these kind of horses ready for a decent first up showing.

NEXT BEST: Race Four Number 4 Heavens Gift

LONG SHOT: Nine Number 14 The Fugazi
