Race 1. (18:15) Ladbrokes Form Genius Mdn Plate 1200m
1 Regal Surge (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a son of Darci Brahma that debuts for Ciaron Maher. This guy has looked pretty good job in jumpout work in readiness for start one, getting better with each hitout for mine. Tricky draw but I think with a more positive steer, he’ll be around the mark.
2 Bazaball Rewarded (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks to have returned well and is a key threat. She resumed over 1200m at Mornington when off speed and kept finding the line in a pretty good effort in defeat I thought behind Nepravda. Better for the run under the belt and in the small field, she’s a leading contender.
3 Cryptic Gem (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1200m, with racing over the short course being her go in two runs back. Latest run was over 1000m at Cranbourne when near the speed and tried hard but just lacked the finale. 1200m is a query on paper but with the small field and soft tempo, it’ll help her cause.
Race 2. (18:45) 55 Second Challenge Heat 11 (Bm70) 955m
1 Lazy Suzan (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a slight query at 955m at this level but she’s a hard fit mare who is capable with her best. She ran behind Layeruponlayer on New Years Day when near the speed and just couldn’t quite finish the job. Back to this sort of depth, she’s a knockout chance.
3 Majesticity (Bet Now: $SP.00) has done little wrong in three career outings and commands respect for Matty Smerdon. Market liked her late, with confidence, when resuming at Pakenham, and the move was proven correct, leading throughout and was much too good. Good racing style, suited at the short course, hard to beat.
2 Moon And Back (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing last Friday night at this track/distance where she did her thing, getting back and held up at times but got clear and was pretty good late in the piece behind Oak Hill. If she is within range with clear air, she has the finale to win.
Race 3. (19:15) Evergreen Turf Mdn Plate 1523m
8 Saltburn (Bet Now: $SP.00) seems the straight bat play for the Corstens/Larkin camp. He has been runner up in both career outings, the latest coming over this trip at Mornington when off the speed and worked to the line well enough in defeat I thought behind Eight Gorillas. Maps to get the sweet run in transit and be strong late. Hard to beat.
4 Rip N Rip (Bet Now: $SP.00) has done little wrong this time in…except win. He has been runner up in all three runs this time in, the latest run being at Mornington when near the speed throughout and stayed on quite strongly in defeat behind Mary Eliza. Good racing style and will take running down.
6 Good Lordy Me (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on the back up for Robbie Laing after racing last Thursday at Pakenham over 1200m. He got back in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he kept finding the line and was pretty good in defeat behind Nostringsattached. Straight up in trip and has less convictions than most.
Race 4. (19:45) Manhari Hcp (C1) 1523m
2 Parch (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks the straight bat option for Jerome Hunter. He ran over 1400m at Seymour last time when getting a decent enough run in transit and tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through when a narrow second to Makalu. Gets in well after the claim and has a good racing style.
4 Rebels (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a leading contender for Grahame Begg and should take beating here. Strong on speed win fresh at Cranbourne before going to Mornington when near the speed and seemingly had his chance but just battled late in the piece. Hard fit, he’s capable with his best.
6 The Daily Planet (Bet Now: $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. Just looked in need of the run fresh at Warrnambool before going to Camperdown when off speed and worked home strongly late in the piece when second. Hard fit, can settle forward and take beating.
Race 5. (20:15) Musk Creek Farm (Bm64) 1000m
5 Dreamzel (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks the likely leader and from there, she’ll take running down. Latest run was an all the way triumph at Penola, producing sustained speed from the front and gave nothing else a look in to win and win well. Looks the leader and will be hard to get past.
2 Tax Free Prophet (Bet Now: $SP.00) is in a purple patch and commands respect. He got off speed over 1000m at Mornington when off speed and held up at times but was good late in the piece I thought. He’ll spot them a start but be strong late.
6 Lloyd’s Crown (Bet Now: $SP.00) has a good track/distance record and that should continue here I feel. He ran over 1000m at Seymour last time when ridden a touch warm on speed and just felt the pinch late in the piece but was far from disgraced. More patient steer, he can win.
Race 6. (20:45) Summer Middle Distance Series Heat 1 (Bm64) 2040m
5 Lygon Street Luigi (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing last Friday night at this track/distance when off speed and kept chasing in a pretty good effort in defeat behind Fagin. Has a good overall record at the track, maps ideally and Mott sticks.
2 Haaland (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an interesting runner here. Rob Hickmott trained gelding that ran over 2500m at The Valley on Nov 11 when off speed, getting the right run in transit, and loomed to win but just found a couple better. Back in trip with fresh legs, I think he is hard to beat but watch betting.
4 Princess Nefertiti (Bet Now: $SP.00) is racing well for Ben Brisbourne and is one of the leading contenders, being a few weeks between runs since racing over 1700m at Geelong where she was chasing a moderate speed and tried hard but couldn’t get past Maisy. Up in trip is fine and with a more genuine tempo, she can win.
Race 7. (21:15) Broadside Lawyers (Bm64) 1200m
2 Privalova (Bet Now: $SP.00) each way for me here in what looks an open contest. Market gravitated towards her with confidence when resuming in a Kilmore maiden and the market got it right as she sat off speed before being presented clear air and she made a mess of them late to win and win well. Good test here against likely types but confident she measures up.
1 Hustle In Heels (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a key chance. Debuted with an electric win at Caulfield Heath before going to Mornington where you can make a case to say she wins with clear air but in the end, she got badly held up and nearly came down. If that hasn’t mentally hurt her, she takes beating.
8 Ania (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one to entertain for exotics. She ran over 1000m at Werribee last time out where she got back off the speed and although held up at times, she kept finding the line and was pretty good in defeat. Maps to get a soft run in transit and I think 1200m is fine.
Race 8. (21:45) Valley Summer Sprint Series Heat 1 (Bm64) 1200m
5 Superset (Bet Now: $SP.00) for me in the get out. Shawn Mathrick trained gelding that ran third over this trip at Cranbourne last start. He got off speed and kept chasing in a pretty good effort in defeat I thought behind American Liaison. If the inside gate can be used to advantage, he takes beating.
12 Dimora Quee (Bet Now: $SP.00)n is hard to beat off the back of a last start win at Kilmore where she led throughout and gave them a spanking, producing sustained speed from the front and gave nothing else a look in. Good test here but confident she measures up.
1 Rocket Tiger (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one I can entertain for exotics. He comes through the Shesallshenanigans race from a few weeks back at Flemington. The race shape wasn’t really to his liking but he kept finding the line in a decent enough effort in defeat. Likely spots them a start but should be at the end.
