30/9/2017 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Sunshine Coast

4 Was It Worth It (Bet Now: $3.00) is a Steve O’Dea trained three year old who is putting together a nice little record. Was confidently backed when racing over the mile at Doomben a couple of Wednesdays back and it was full credit to him for the win. He burnt the candle at both ends and held them comfortably. I think he will be better with cover. If he gets it here, he’ll take some beating.

2 Rancho Montoya (Bet Now: $2.35) is a progressive colt for the Stuart Kendrick yard who has been given a four week let up since taking on the older horses and doing an impressive job to get the win in a field which had really good depth to it. The lack of race fitness here is the query. If he did have a run leading in, he’d be on top.

5 Brains (Bet Now: $13.00) is a Tony Gollan trained son of Stryker who has to raise the level a bit here to threaten but see no reason why he can’t. Didn’t beat much in breaking the maiden at Beaudesert last time out but you had to like the way he put them away, especially over the last 100m, suggesting the mile will be ideal.

1 My Giuliano (Bet Now: $4.00) does look the one here. Chris Waller trained stayer who ran over this trip at Doomben a fortnight back and ran a very close second to the low flying Ingeegoodbee before Brad Stewart fired in a whip protest, which was dismissed. Big track, hard fit and less depth…he should just about beat these.

9 Novative (Bet Now: $18.00) is on the quick back up for the Ben Currie team after racing over 2000m at Gatton last Saturday. Well really, he may as well have run 2200m because he was wide no cover for the last 1000m of the race and seemingly under pressure from that point on but gee he kept finding and kicked hard to win. He can measure up here for sure.

7 Gouldian (Bet Now: $21.00) is a Kevin Hickmott trained stayer who will appreciate the rise in trip. He ran over 1500m on Lismore Cup Day last week and was one of the better runs of the day i thought, working home against the bias to run fifth to Malmoosa. Quickly up in trip, which is something common with the stable, and they can surprise in town.

7 The Mechanic (Bet Now: $6.00) deserves a shot in town. This son of Myboycharlie for David Vandyke was outstanding I thought last time out at Ipswich. He sat out the back under Michael Cahill before coming wider on the turn, full of momentum, and he just ambled to the front and won as if it was a barrier trial. Obviously harder here, but I’m keen to see what he does.

13 Girl In A Million (Bet Now: $3.30) is a nippy mare for the Ben Currie yard who should take some beating here. She gave them a galloping lesson first up on her home track at Toowoomba before going to the 1050m at Doomben where she really toughed it out strongly on speed to score a narrow but impressive win. 1000m here is the query given the long straight, but she’ll probably lead and give a great sight.

12 Loose Goose (Bet Now: $7.50) is the big watch here. Former Bjorn Baker runner now with Matty Dunn and he looks to have improved big time since heading north based on his ten length trial romp at Doomben, and running absolutely sizzling time. If he overcomes the gate, he’s a major player.

4 With A Promise (Bet Now: $3.70) is an above average mare for the Ben Currie team who was well backed when resuming at Doomben a fortnight back but got somewhat run off her legs early but she did close off nicely late when third to another well backed runner in Another Whiskey. Should come on from that and the lone time she raced here, she ran fourth to Sacred Exlixir…fair form.

6 Londehero (Bet Now: $8.00) has been off the boil for a little while but I think he finds a very winnable race here to find some form. Hasn’t raced since August 26 over 1100m at the Gold Coast where he got back and was okay late without being spectacular behind Il Mio destino. Has run well here before and should be strong late with a tempo in front.

1 Man Of His Word (Bet Now: $7.00) is a talented galloper that resumes for the Bruce Hill team. This bloke raced during the middle part of the Sydney Winter and ran a couple of ripping races, but his racing pattern of getting back played badly against him where he could have easily won a race or two with better luck. Resumes with no trials, but he will be strong late.

1 Mr Epic (Bet Now: $3.60) looks the safe way to go. Three weeks between runs for the Edmonds team after racing over 2000m at Doomben where he tried hard but didn’t quite see out the trip when a close up third to Outraged. Back to 1800m, big track, fresh, in good form…shocked if he doesn’t go close.

2 Lordag (Bet Now: $3.50) was stiff not to win the Ballina Cup two back but made amends with a tough win over the Doomben mile a fortnight back under a lovely ride from in form hoop Jimmy Orman. Has won up to 2000m, so the rise to 1800m looks ideal and he does have a fabulous record at the Sunny Coast.

3 Ruling Force (Bet Now: $14.00)is a son of Faith trained by Kelly Schweida who will appreciate the step up in distance. He comes through the Lordag race mentioned above where he got off the pace and worked home well but couldn’t quite finish it off when a close up third, beaten around a neck. He should run a beauty here.

6 My Girl Hayle (Bet Now: $3.70) looks a great bet for mine. She did a great job to hang on like she did last time out over the 1350m at Doomben considering she went very hard in front, running along at a fast tempo. Only got nutted in the last stride by Spring Tycoon. Back to 1200m, and with a more conservative ride, she’ll take some beating.

7 Final Over (Bet Now: $20.00) is a local mare trained by Paul Duncan who looks a key contender here. She ran over this track/distance last time out where she attempted to sit on speed and win under Steph Lacy but she couldn’t quite see it out, getting pipped near the peg by Cruise Power. Maps okay and that was her first run in nearly a month, so there should be upside.

4 Lady Sioux (Bet Now: $23.00) was a horror show three weeks back at Doomben, finishing last, beaten 20+ lengths, but she was tardy away and Browne thought she may have been amiss. On her best form, she’s right up to these, but her efforts since joining O’Dea have been mixed. One more chance.

1 Helarocity (Bet Now: $4.50) on top for me. Lindsay Hatch trained gelding who resumed over the short course at the Gold Coast yet rattled home out wide and got the win narrowly but impressively. The stable should always be respected in town and the claim for Emma Ljung is a big tick for mine.

3 Beat Street (Bet Now: $3.20) finds a very winnable race here. Stuart Kendrick trained galloper has won four from eight on his home track and looks hard to beat off the back of an encouraging placing last time out at Doomben behind Mishani El Lobo in a close up finish. Draws to stalk the speed and D Browne is back on.

2 Zahspeed (Bet Now: $10.00) is the very interesting runner here. Former Danny O’Brien galloper now with the Toby Edmonds yard and we know the record this guy has with tried horses. Best form is over further, but he has looked good in a couple of trials and for mine, he is a big market/yard watch.

12 Jetsonic (Bet Now: $8.50) is a talented gelding for the Tony Gollan yard who has been excellent in both runs back from a break. Flashed home to just miss out on picking up Sweet Repeat fresh before racing at Doomben four weeks back and again working home with purpose behind Impregnable, who won last weekend to frank the form. Likes the Sunny Coast and he’ll be charging late.

9 Deep Image (Bet Now: $3.00) is a promising galloper that resumes for the David Vandyke yard. This lightly raced four year ran twice in the Autumn, resuming with a third to Dreams Aplenty before a narrow win over 1350m at Doomben and was tipped out soon after. Looked sharp in a recent trial here and appears ready to go.

4 Zamex (Bet Now: $8.00) is an above average type for Matty Dunn that is first up here. His prep in the Winter was highlighted by a couple of Highway wins at Rosehill before racing in the Guineas over the mile here and he raced like a tired horse behind Crack Me Up. Whatever he does here he will improve on, but he has class/quality.

17 Gregory (Bet Now: $21.00) is a horse I’m keen to butter up on. I liked him each way at the Gold Coast two back but it was just a nightmare if you were on. Was never really clear of a pocket when appearing to have plenty to offer and definitely should have gone close to winning. He then went to Doomben and closed off okay in a slowly run affair behind The Amateur. Looking for the 1400m and he gets it here.

15 Don’t Doubt Da Wife (Bet Now: $3.70) is a Tony Gollan trained mare who was crunched late in betting when resuming over 1200m at Ipswich but she couldn’t quite reel in Lord Marmaduke, who had it too good on speed and just kept finding to hold out the mare. She can be hot and cold, but off that effort, have to include her.

6 I Am Impressed (Bet Now: $7.50) is a former Ron Quinton galloper that makes his QLD debut for the Toby Edmonds team. This bloke last raced on September 6 at Warwick Farm where he got back and couldn’t come on behind Screamarr. Another that is hot and cold, but on his best form, he’s up to these for sure.

10 Impregnable (Bet Now: $4.50) is a sprinter in white hot form at the moment for the Toby Edmonds team. Had a lovely run behind the speed over 1200m at Doomben two weeks back and once Lloyd got the split at the top of the straight, it was race over and he kicked on to win. Hardest test to date here, but he deserves a crack.

5 Manias (Bet Now: $3.80) is a Robert Heathcoate trained galloper who is absolutely low flying at the moment for the stable. Jimmy Orman gave him a sweet steer a fortnight back over the 1350m at Doomben and once he popped out, he was always going to win and he did. He isn’t a horse who will space his rivals, but he knows where the post is. Great trait to have.

2 Mystic Opal (Bet Now: $4.80) is a Chris Anderson trained mare who should be at peak fitness. Srguably should have beaten Havasay first up had she got clear at the right time, so the stable backed her up a week later and she was okay without being great when third to Someday. She does tend to save her best for her home track here and the 1400m is a big tick.
