Race 1. (12:57) Duttons Mdn Plate 1100m
12 Pure Bliss (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks the winner. Clarken/O’Shea trained filly that was off a mini break when racing two weeks ago on the Parks track at Morphettville when attempting to lead throughout and she did look the winner for the most part but couldn’t quite see it through when a narrow second to The Stalker. Good improvement to come, good racing style and finds a winnable race.
2 Morris Minor (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Craig Curtis trained gelding that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since Boxing Day at Morphettville when back off the speed and kept finding the line in a good effort behind Cuban Waters. He has shown enough in his two career outings to say he’s a coming maiden winner. Market will be the main guide here.
16 The Pharmacist (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate a rise in trip for David Jolly. He resumed behind The Stalker two weeks back on the Parks track where he just found them a bit sharp and was never really a factor but I didn’t mind the way he found the line late in the piece. Up in trip, can settle closer…not dismissing him.
Race 2. (13:32) Stateliner Coaches (Bm66) 1050m
4 Great Maximus (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a very nice horse for Team Jolly that resumes. He hasn’t raced since debuting with an electric win on Cup Day at Morphettville where he was backed as if unbeatable and duly saluted, giving his rivals a spanking in a sharp display. Given a good break, has trialled up really well leading in…think he’s Stakes class. Keen.
2 Lovely Lookin (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a talented filly for Andrew Gluya that comes here off the back off a strong first up win on Adelaide Cup Day when getting a dream run in transit before Stubby clicked her up and away she went, gapping her rivals to win in a sharp return. She can build off that and is hard to beat.
6 Nasho (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Team Oxlade trained three year old that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since Dec 9 at Morphettville when racing on an absolute bog track and he tried his guts out but just couldn’t pick his feet up late in the piece behind La Defense, who looks Stakes class. Good racing and should be strong at the end. Leading contender.
Race 3. (14:07) The Shillabeer 1400m
1 Overstrike (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks hard to beat for Chris Bieg. He is three weeks between runs since resuming with a 3&4YO Magic Millions triumph at Murray Bridge where he led throughout and was strong to the line in winning, fending off quality stablemate Dubenenko. Slight query at 1400m but with his racing style, he will give himself every chance.
Fitter and up to 1400m are two big ticks for 3 Bolted In (Bet Now: $SP.00). He resumed over 1100m on Adelaide Cup Day where he got a fair way out of his ground and while he was never threatening, I didn’t mind the way he finished his race off behind Lovely Lookin. Better set up this time around and his best is good enough.
5 Voltage Point (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a knockout hope. He resumed two weeks back on the Parks track when tucked in behind the speed and he tried hard to get there but first up, condition just gave way late when third to Sir Sway. Fitter and up in trip…not sure he wins, but a must for exotics.
Race 4. (14:42) Emmett's Country Cup (Bm72) 1900m
8 Fox D’Or (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks suited up in trip. He ran at Albury last Thursday over the mile where he got back to near last in the run and did make up solid headway without threatening behind Villasaurus in a good effort. Like him up in trip and this isn’t an overly deep race. One of the leading contenders in an open race.
1 Shiny Rock (Bet Now: $SP.00) has been outstanding in a couple of runs for Garret Lynch and potentially heads to the Alice Springs Cup after a win here. He is 2/2 for the stable, both coming at Non TAB meetings, firstly at Lock before a spank job win at Broken Hill. He will press forward and will just keep chipping away.
10 Applied (Bet Now: $SP.00) has run well at the track/distance previously and is knocking on the door to win. He has placed his past two, both over 1800m at Murray Bridge. Latest run came last Wednesday when back near last in the run and made up solid headway late when second to Persian Empire. Not sure I could back him to win but a must for exotics.
Race 5. (15:17) Queen Of The Hills 1400m
5 Sixteen Reasons (Bet Now: $SP.00) should take beating up in trip for Clarken/O’Shea. She resumed three weeks ago in the 3&4YO Magic Millions at Murray Bridge when wide no cover on speed and that hard run told late in the piece but that said, I thought she was far from disgraced in defeat behind Overstrike. Better for the run under the belt, she’ll take beating against these.
4 Gaze Grise (Bet Now: $SP.00) hasn’t won past 1050m but she is racing as if 1400m will be no issue. She ran over 1300m at Bendigo last time out when four wide throughout no cover and she stuck to the task really well in defeat given all the work she did when fourth to Bellini Miss. Leading contender provided she gets a more economical run in transit.
1 Wild Imagination (Bet Now: $SP.00) can bounce back against this lot. She was thrown in the deep end last start when contesting the CS Hayes on Adelaide Cup Day over the mile and just found them a bit sharp when down the track behind Meridius. Back to 1400m and back to Mares grade, she’s a big improver.
Race 6. (15:52) Onkaparinga Cup 2150m
2 Yuri Royale (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the straight bat option for me. Four weeks between runs for Team Jolly since a strong win on the Parks track where he was too good, just, for Dual Fuel, who was flying this prep before being spelled. I reckon 2250m sees him right out so back slightly in trip is ideal, he has fresh legs and is in form.
8 Oath Of Omerta (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on the seven day back up for Michael Hickmott after racing last Saturday at Morphettville where he was one of the first off the bit but he kept finding and surged late, just missing out on the win when second to Crimson Vine. This will be the third Saturday in a row he is racing and is thriving with the back up.
1 Clever Man (Bet Now: $SP.00) is capable with his best. He comes through the Mount Gambier Cup where he got a mile out of his ground before trying to make a sustained run. He did make a run but tired late to finish down the track behind Thrill Kill. That was his first run in five weeks and he has run very well in this race the last two years.
Race 7. (16:27) The Vintage 1400m
2 My Khalifa (Bet Now: $SP.00) is four weeks between runs for Richards/Moyle, having not raced since March 2 on the Parks track when on the back up and was just fair in defeat behind stablemate Tapinforpar. The tick over trial was a good piece of work, he has run well at the track/distance previously. Hard to beat.
10 Texan Windstorm (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an absolute beauty for John Macmillan. He comes here off the back of a win over this trip on the Parks track, sitting on speed throughout and credit to him, he was there to be beaten but he found under pressure to fend them off and win. Good racing style, which ensures it will give himself every chance.
13 Easy Campese (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks suited up in trip. He ran over 1200m on Adelaide Cup Day and was good from off the speed when closing to finish third to impressive winner Prairie Flower. Third up now and rising to 1400m, he’ll be strong late…doubt he wins but he can run top four.
Race 8. (17:07) Hills Railway Stakes 1100m
1 Taunting (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks ready to rock and roll. Michael Hickmott trained gelding that put it together in the Spring, winning his last two, the latest being on Ballarat Cup Day when handling the bog track best. Given a break, potentially with an eye towards the Goodwood, and his recent trial work has been sharp. Hard to beat.
13 Press Down (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a talented animal for Peter Hardacre that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since Jan 20 when placing at Gawler, finishing a close up third. He does sprint very well on the fresh side and has trialled up super. Drawn out, hopefully gets cover and be strong late.
9 Metro Legend (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Bain/Taylor trained gelding that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since Sep 9 on the Parks track where he raced over 1250m and finished down the track behind Lord Vladivostok but was at the end of a long prep and looked a tired horse. Trial work to get ready, both trials here, has been strong, and he will be strong at the end.
Race 9. (17:49) Ray White Real Estate Hcp (66) 1050m
13 Skinder (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a talented four year old for Michael Hickmott that is heading in the right direction. He resumed two weeks ago on the Parks track where he had a suck run in transit. Just a matter of getting clear and once clear air came, he launched over the top for an outstanding win. Natural improvement, he’ll take beating.
6 Costless (Bet Now: $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and give cheek, like he did at Morphettville last Saturday and he gave a good sight but just couldn’t quite see it through when fourth to Winning Revolution. Good racing style, will be stronger at the end and if the fav is off her game, this guy can pinch it.
5 Chosen Blonde (Bet Now: $SP.00) is flying for Chris Bieg and commands respect. She has won two on the bounce, firstly at Kangaroo Island before going to the Parks track where she led throughout and was quite impressive the way she fought on to get the job done. She was four weeks between runs there so with room for improvement, she is in the mix for sure.
