11 Starboard (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran fourth in the Midway mentioned above. He got into a decent spot off the speed and presented to win when clear but just couldn’t quite see it through, finishing a close up fourth. Fitter and up in trip, he appeals.

3 Vintage Choice (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is capable for Joe Ible. He attempted to lead throughout in the Provincial Final at Randwick and gave a good sight but just lacked the class to finish the job behind Matcha Latte. That form surely reads well for a Midway.

5 Miss Hades (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a knockout chance for Gary Portelli. She resumed at the midweeks at Warwick Farm behind Candelwick. She foudn them too sharp but I didn’t mind the way she finished her race off in defeat. Better set up here, her best is good enough to take this out.

4 Craft (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a last start winner and commands respect. He won at Queanbeyan last time, ridden with far more intent to lead, and he gave nothing else a look in to win impresssively. He’s found winning form, he can go on with it.

1 Canadian Ruler (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has to lump the weight but he comes here as a last start winner, that win coming over 1400m at Canberra when leading throughout and he gave nothing else a look in, winning impressively and ran decent time. Keen to see how he goes at this level.

10 Call Me Terry (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win. He ran second to New Pharoah at Scone last time when off speed and kept finding under pressure but just couldn’t quite get there when a narrow second. Bursting to win and commands respect against these.

2 Damien (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes to town for Kris Lees off the back of a win at Newcastle where he looked a good thing on paper and duly saluted, sitting on speed before being clicked up and away he went to win and win well. That was against the older horses. Now back to his own age, he appeals.

3 Fortissimo (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a juvenile with talent. He has had two career outings, both on the home deck at Scone, winning on debut before taking on the older horses and was game in defeat when third to New Pharoah. Hard fit and up to 1400m, he’s a key threat.

9 Explicit (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should be better for the debut run, which came over 1200m at Warwick Farm where he was raw and new to the caper but he kept finding the line and was pretty good in defeat behind Aerodrome. Like him up to 1400m and stable has had a good run with their juveniles.

3 Iron Man (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a nice horse for Ed O’Rourke and is one of the hardest to beat here. He resumed over 1200m at Randwick two weeks ago when off speed and held up at times but for the most part, I thought he had his chance behind Need Some Luck. Like him back to 1100m and the depth here is nowhere near as deep.

4 World Alliance (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is capable for Matty Smith. He jas been freshened up since contesting the Bert Lillye where he got back and made up some headway without threatening behind General Salute, a subsequent Stakes winner. Recent tick over trial was good and does have class on his side.

8 Epic Proportions (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is first up for Ciaron Maher and is dangerous with his best. He hasn’t raced since Boxing Day at the Sunny Coast in a strong 85 when far from disgraced behind a horse who I think is Stakes class, Busting. He does tend to race best fresh and his trial work has been more than encouraging.

Going to have a throw at the stumps via 7 Fay’s Angels (Bet Now:  $SP.00). I reckon she is sneaky flying and will be a big enough price to speck each way. Both runs back from a spell have come at Warwick Farm where each time she has got back and made up good ground. Hard fit and up to 1800m, she will run at a price.

5 Black Run (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks an import with promise and should appreciate getting to 1800m. Aussie debut came over the mile at Warwick Farm where he was an eye catcher from the back, closing with purpose when fourth to impressive winner Poppin Champagne. He’s a leading chance with good upside/improvement to come.

4 Quantum Cat (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one for wider exotics. He resumed behind Poppin Champagne at Warwick Farm and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up headway and was a definite pass mark I thought. Might want one more and 2000m+ but he has a touch of quality about him.

14 Modella (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks the one that will be no problem on the wet deck and her run in the James Carr was an absolute beauty after being wide no cover throughout. She fought on really well. Few of these, question marks on them whereas she’s flying and is a big enough price.

9 Media World (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a nice three year old on the up for Peter Snowden camp and should be respected after a first up win at Warwick Farm where he got the suck run in behind before angling clear and knuckled down with purpose late to win and win well. Confident he can measure up.

11 Alabama State (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is 2/2 at Hawkesbury and has been set for this race. He comes through the South Pacific where he just lacked any real turn of foot from off the speed but he stayed on and was sound enough in defeat I thought behind Sergeant Major. Hard fit now, he’s in the mix.

10 Tashi (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a big improver. She ran in the Sapphire where she was a few weeks between runs and loomed to win but condition just gave way late in the piece. Fitter and up in trip, has a touch of class, she can take this out for sure.

7 Coco Jamboo (Bet Now:  $SP.00) won this race last year and I am confident she goes close again. She ran three weeks ago in the Sapphire and was one of the runs of the meeting I thought, closing with real purpose behind Infancy. Form out of it looks strong, she’ll love 1300m, hard fit, stable love this race…hard to beat.

6 Thalassophile (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. I dare say she has eyes on races over further but she is a talented mare who looks to have trialled up well for the return and she swims, so she gets conditions to suit to run an improved race. Watch betting.

5 Punch Lane (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is being asked to race for the third Saturday on the bounce but he’s flying and he swims. He won last Saturday at Randwick over 1500m, leading throughout and he gave nothing else a look in, leading throughout and he gave nothing else a look in to win and win well. Confident he can measure up against these.

9 Tavi Time (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should take beating here for Kris Lees after resuming over 1400m at Randwick two weeks ago. He got off speed and chased with purpose in the straight but just found one better in Sandpaper. Fitter and up in trip, good upside to come, he’s hard to beat.

4 Osipenko (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one of the leading contenders. He resumed in the All Aged Stakes when clearly outclassed on paper but I thought he ran a super race in defeat behind Jimmysstar. He is a wet tracker who will love a rise to the mile and does have class on his side.

9 Fire Star (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an improver for Peter Snowden after resuming at Canterbury. He did look a tad big in condition and just ran out of puff late behind Pisanello. Fitter, good racing style and has credits in the bank to be given another look.

4 Bubba’s Bay (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a ripping mare for Kris Lees that resumes. She is first up, having not raced since Jan 17 when placing in the Magic Millions F&M behind Miss Roumbini. Not a noted fresh horse, but has trialled super and is a very genuine mare.

1 Dragonstone (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is better suited at 1100m vs 1200m. He ran in the Hall Mark two weeks ago at Randwick where he got back in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he kept finding the line and was good in defeat. Fast run 1100m, he’ll get his chance to finish over the top.

7 Gallant Star (Bet Now:  $SP.00) for me in the get out. This guy comes through the CC Series, winning a Qualifier with arrogance at Coonamble before going to the Final at Randwick where he seemed to have his chance but was far from disgraced in defeat behind Know Thyself, who has won since. Form reads super and with the claim, is the one to beat.

3 Cool Jakey (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is hard fit and bursting to win. He ran two weeks ago at Randwick and was there to win after getting a decent run in transit near the speed but just couldn’t quite get there bebind Sandpaper. I think back to 88 grade, back in depth, he takes beating.

5 Rhapsody Chic (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is several weeks between runs for Team Freedman since racing over 1400m at Rosehill when first up. He got back to near last in the run and was never a winning threat behind stablemate Green Fly but did make up ground. Better set up here and has trialled well since.

LONG SHOT: Race Nine Number 9 Fire Star
