Group l racing returns to Morphettville this Saturday where it is Australasian Oaks Day. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

3 Way To Go Paula (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top in the opener. Phillip Stokes trained mare that resumed at the midweeks at Sandown where the race shape was against her so be forgiving of the down the track effort behind Circle Of Magic, who got control in front and was too good. This looks a very thin race on paper and at her best, I do to think she has a bit on them.

2 Ranger Frank (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should love the rise back up in trip. His last couple of runs have come over 1050m, two back at Oakbank on Easter Monday behind Classy Kenny before going here two weeks ago where he got back in the run but was very good late in the piece when third to Celsius Star. Big tick is getting to 1200m and with a more positive steer, he can take this out.

9 Pivotal Force (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has found winning form…can he go on with it? He teased in a couple of runs, finding the line with purpose, before going to Strathalbyn where he got back in the run but came with a well timed finale to win narrowly but impressively, landing decent bets in the process. He has run well in town before and this isn’t an overly strong race.

4 Confrontational (Bet Now:  $SP.00) gets the nod. Jason Warren trained gelding that should appreciate a rise to 1600m after resuming over 1400m at Sandown where he got back in the run and just lacked a change up speed to be dangerous but wasn’t too bad in the run to the line behind Lake Tai. Good second up record and with not much depth here, he’ll do me.

1 Prince Jofra (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is flying this time in for Garret Lynch. Really caught the eye fresh behind Pontedera before a win at Oakbank three weeks ago. He backed that up and proved it was no fluke when a dominant winner last Wednesday at Balaklava. He’s putting together a really good record and the mile should be fine, especially the way he ran it last time. Hard to beat.

7 Montepulciano (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is dangerous with his best. He is four weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance where he was kept quite safe in betting, settling back in the run and made up little to no headway in a race dominated by those on speed. The run prior was very good and off that, he can figure in the finish against these.

Open race with a host of chances. Landed with 5 Queman (Bet Now:  $SP.00), who is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday in the Irwin where he attempted to lead throughout and he gave a solid kick but just lacked the class to put them away behind Kallos. Back to benchmark grade, if there is petrol left in the tank, he’ll take running down from the front.

7 Extra Mile (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is four weeks between runs for Team Jolly since racing over 1200m here. He attempted to lead throughout and gave a solid kick but was no match late for a good horse when right, Grinzinger Prince. Back to 1100m should be find, likely gets the cart over from Queman and with fresh legs, he appeals as a key winning chance.

4 Star Hill (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a veteran that resumes and his best is good enough to fill a first four spot. His last run came on Feb 18 on the Parks track when running last behind Larimer Street. I was thinking he could resume in a Railway but he has been kept on ice, trialled well last week and resumes here. One for exotics.

1 Rushaway Lad (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has a good second up record and can certainly take this out. He was kept quite safe in betting when resuming over 1050m here a few weeks back where he got off the speed, chasing from the outset, and just whacked away late in the piece without threatening behind Magic Max. Hopefully with a more positive ride, he’ll take beating.

6 Sabermetric (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has versatility re racing pattern and should be around the mark. He was a notable betting drifter a few weeks back at Oakbank but despite that, he ran a very credible race from off the speed and kept finding the line when third to Qeyaady, beaten just over a length. Think with a more positive ride, he can certainly take this out.

11 Naleigh (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has had an interesting prep but she is a mare with talent. Throw at the stumps from connections three weeks back in the Railway and despite being near last in the run, she made up solid headway and given her big SP, the run was very good behind Taunting. If she can settle closer and be within range, she’ll be dangerous.

2 Harley’N’Rose (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks like he has been set for the race and comes here cherry ripe for it. Both runs back from a spell have come over 1100m here, the latest being two weeks ago where he tried hard after getting slightly held up and found the line really well when second to Heuristic. The rise to 1200m looks perfect, he’ll be strong late and third up, should be hard fit.

1 Heuristic (Bet Now:  $SP.00) took a little while to get the win on the board and now that he has, he can go on with it. That win came a fortnight back over 1100m here where he was given a peach by Pannell and no doubt the confident ride won the race for the Godolphin colt, finishing best to win impressively. The end of 1200m is the slight knock with him but he’ll look the winner at some stage.

3 Air Assault (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is another that is looking for 1200m and gets it here. He comes through the Heuristic race from two weeks back here. He got a fair way out of his ground and did make up ground but was a bit one paced in doing it, beaten just over four lengths. He’s racing like he wants more ground, which he gets here, and if it’s a genuine 1200m, he’ll be one of the strongest late.

3 Pontedera (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a progressive animal for Michael Hickmott that should prove hard to beat. Market wanted him with confidence when resuming several weeks ago on the Parks track at this trip and under a peach ride from Price, he got into clear air at the right time and went through his gears in the straight to win nicely. He’s got good room for improvement and rates highly against these.

11 Floral Oasis (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a filly on the up for the Clarken/O’Shea stable and is one of the key chances. This filly resumed with a spank job maiden win at Balaklava before going here a fortnight back where she attempted to lead throughout and tried her guts out but couldn’t quite get there when second to Prairie Flower. Hard fit now, good racing style, she’ll give a sight I am sure.

9 Starsongari (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks to be in for a good prep and commands respect against these. Market said it would be a prep run when resuming over this track/distance two weeks ago but she ran a very good race from the back, closing off nicely late in the piece behind when third to Prairie Fire. Has a much better second up record and if she can settle closer in the run, she’ll take beating.

I’m backing 5 Captain Envious (Bet Now:  $SP.00) to find somewhere near his best, which is clearly good enough to take this out. He ran on a bog in the Easter Cup at Sandown where he got back to near last in the run and made up some headway without threatening behind a star, White Marlin. Like him up to 2500m and back on firmer footing, upside, he’ll do me.

6 Long Arm (Bet Now:  $SP.00) commands respect. Peter Gelagotis trained gelding that was far from disgraced two back at Bendigo behind Caboche before going to this track/distance two weeks ago where he lobbed into a sweet spot behind the speed before Allen angled him into clear air and as the race went on, he got stronger and was impressive to the line in winning. Hard to beat against these.

2 Clever Arm (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an absolute beauty for Trevor White and should take beating against these. Stunning winner of the Mount Gambier Cup two back before going to Oakbank three weeks ago where the market said he was hard to beat and #They got it spot on as he gapped them late and impressive. He has won at 2500m previously and the way he is racing, he’ll take beating.

3 Loco (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has done little wrong in a three start career and is racing like a rise to 2000m will be ideal. All three career runs have come at the mile, the latest coming at Sandown where he was a bit one paced when asked for the effort but kept on and kept finding the line when second to Gringotts. Being by So You Think, 2000m should be ideal and stable love to target this race.

1 Suizuro (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has to be respected. He was big odds in the Australian Derby at Randwick and yes, was helped by the track pattern, but I still thought he ran a very credible race on testing ground when third to Major Beel. The break between runs interests me as to whether he’s ready for this, but draws gate one to do no work and the depth here is nowhere near as strong.

15 Ravin (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has got 2000m+ written all over her and has the talent to measure up. Blinkers went on in the Auraria two weeks back over 1800m here and was very good from the back without threatening behind Jennilala. Love that she gets to 2000m and if she is able to settle closer in the run, I think she will be very dangerous and is a definite winning chance.

Having a throw at the stumps in the shape of 5 Amati (Bet Now:  $SP.00) for Chris Waller. She ran over the mile at Sandown last time in a strong 3YO race and the way the track played, she was no hope, and adding to that, she got badly held up at a vital stage early on in the straight, so forget she went around behind Gringotts. 2000m is the query, but she races like she will find it, her jumpout last week was sharp and has the Waller/Dee combo.

2 Arts (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is hard to beat if there is petrol left in the tank. She was a dominant winner of the Adrian Knox before backing up a week later in the ATC Oaks where she loomed to win but found the 2400m a bridge too far behind Pennyweka. Like her back to 2000m and off the Adrian Knox win, that is certainly good enough to take this out.

1 She’s Fit (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has to be respected. WA Oaks winner for Dan Morton that comes through the WA Derby where they tried her at 2400m and she just found the trip a bridge too far behind Awesome John but was as brave as ever to run third. Fresh legs and back to 2000m I do like for her and the stable have found C Williams to steer so she has a bit going for her to say she can run well here.

13 Dual Fuel (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is placed to advantage here for the first time since the resumption. Far from disgraced two back in the Morphettville Guineas before going to Oakbank three weeks ago where she just seemed to struggle on the tight track so be forgiving of that effort behind Fiorada Lad. Like her back up in trip and onto a bigger track, she appeals big time, especially with a massive jockey upgrade.

8 Whiskey N Women (Bet Now:  $SP.00) doesn’t win out of turn but strikes a very winnable race here. Jordan Frew trained gelding that is two weeks between runs after racing over the mile on the course proper here where he got back in the run and while he was never a threat, I didn’t mind the way he found the line late behind Killiako. He doesn’t have the best of racing patterns but if he’s within range, he is certainly good enough to take this out.

4 Master At Arms (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can run an improved race. They rode him cold two back at Balaklava and let down with purpose to win well before going to this track/distance where he was ridden a bit too warm and despite the slow tempo, he couldn’t get involved behind Miss Kermie. I think with a more conservative steer, he can bounce back into the winners list without surprising.

NEXT BEST: Race Five Number 2 Harley’N’Rose

LONG SHOT: Race Nine Number 5 Amati
