Race 1. (12:50) Big Al's Water Maiden Plate 1000m
10 Thanks Gorgeous (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks the straight bat play in the opener. Team Iavanagh trained filly that did a good job when last in work, the latest run seeing her place in the Quezette. Jumped out well, looks the leader and will take running down.
4 Street Legal (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came at Pakenham when on speed and did seem to have his chance but couldn’t quite see it through when third to Choir Point. Better for the run, presses forward, commands respect.
1 Cavern (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Team Hayes trained colt that debuts off the back of encouraging jumpout work, and we know the Godolphin Blue has been absolutely humming. Definite yard and market watch.
Race 2. (13:25) Catanch's Jewellers Handicap (64) 1300m
8 Castellito (Bet Now: $SP.00) for me. She looks a handy filly for Beggy that resumed with a gutsy win at Kyneton in a maiden. Credit to her, she was there to be beaten but she found and was strong to the line. Fitter, 1300m, she is the one to beat I say.
7 Bajaria (Bet Now: $SP.00) steps up to 1300m after a maiden win over 1100m at Sale. She had the suck run in transit behind the speed before angling clear and knuckled down with purpose late. Extra ground is fine, she’s a leading contender.
4 Decanted (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes back to 1300m after racing over the mile in the Bill Stutt where he was outclassed and never really a factor behind West Of Swindon. Back to this trip and back to this level, he’s dangerous.
Race 3. (14:00) Bendigo Locksmiths Handicap (70) 1600m
10 Entrusting (Bet Now: $SP.00) steps up to the mile after racing over 1500m here last start. He got a fair way out of his ground and kept chasing in a pretty good effort in defeat I thought. Hard fit now, Blinkers back on. Just needs luck from the tricky gate.
6 Shiny New Deel (Bet Now: $SP.00) is hard to beat after a dominant last start win over 1800m at Sandown where he led throughout and gave nothing else a look in, romping up to win quite impressively. Looks the likely leader and from there, takes running down.
4 Politely Dun (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Danny O’Brien trained four year old that resumes. His best form does come over further but 1600m fresh does signal some form of intent and looks to have jumped out well. Watch betting.
Race 4. (14:35) Turners Crossing Handicap (66) 2400m
11 Leonchroi (Bet Now: $SP.00) steps up to 2400m after racing over 2000m at Seymour last time out. He got off speed and was under pressure but he kept chasing and was pretty good in defeat when second. Racing like 2400m suits, he commands respect.
1 Tikemyson (Bet Now: $SP.00 is a key threat for Symon Wilde. He ran a game second in the Horsham Cup, closing strongly from off speed and looked the winner, instead finishing a narrow second to Pittsburgh Pete. 2400m is fine for him, he’s a definite contender.
6 Perfuse (Bet Now: $SP.00) is proven at 2400m and looks to have upside. Just got a bit too far at Pakenham last time but didn’t mind the way he finished his race off in defeat. If within range, he can be quite dangerous.
Race 5. (15:10) Filkel Handicap (66) 1100m
I don’t think you can go wrong backing 7 Innocent Enuff (Bet Now: $SP.00) each way. Been up a while but she’s holding her form really well and will be out of trouble on speed, as seen at this track/distance last start when a game second. She’ll give a great sight.
11 Fluent (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an Andrew Noblet trained mare that resumes. She hasn’t raced since May 17 at Flemington down the straight when far from disgraced in defeat behind Madame Maserarti. Just one soft jumpout at Flemington but she has a touch of quality about her.
8 Sea Poem (Bet Now: $SP.00) is dangerous. Team Hayes trained mare that ran over 1300m at Sandown last start where she seemed to have her chance but I do feel that 1300m is a tad too far for her. Like her back to 1100m, maps ideally and is effective late.
Race 6. (15:45) Prestige Event Hire Handicap (78) 1100m
11 Scillato (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Team Hope trained mare that resumes, I think she’s a very good mare of the future who will be Stakes class and a Stakes winner in time. Just such odd placement with her last prep. It seemed like they didn’t know what to do, which is unusual for this stable. She’ll get back and launch late.
1 Proved… (Bet Now: $SP.00) just how good is she? 5/5 to start her career for Enver Jusufovic and comes here first up. Been well placed re benchmark races and it looks no different here. Couple of sharp jumpouts under the belt, I say she’s ready to go, but watch betting.
6 Trapeze Warrior (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a total forgive from several weeks back at Morphettville where he was wide no cover sitting on a very solid speed and just weakened late behind Grinzinger Prince. His best is good enough to be dangeeous.
Race 7. (16:20) Bendigo Cup 2400m
5 Mark Twain (Bet Now: $SP.00) has to be the each way bet here. Gee he has had no luck this time in or has been poorly placed. Total forgive in the Coongy last start when wide no cover and just couldn’t sustain the run. Like him back up in trip and surely he won’t get a harsh run this time around.
6 Quietness… (Bet Now: $SP.00) ugh, less said the better re Coongy. I would have loved him to stay on but I can understand why Willow has been punted. She’s flying and if the breaks go her way, she can win and book her spot in the Cup field on Tuesday.
1 Arapaho (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an improver at odds. Thought he was ticking along beautifully towards the Cups but his run in The Metropolitan was quite plain despite the weight and wide barrier. Prior efforts, he run well here. First four threat.
Race 8. (16:55) BRB Electrical Handicap (70) 1300m
2 Fear No Evil (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a GaiBott trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since May 31 on testing ground at Rosehill over 1500m. He tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through behind Mickey’s Medal. Looks to have jumped out nicely and gets a hungry Nash.
10 Ahha Ahha (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Clinton McDonald trained mare that resumes. She was showing good signs when last in work during the Winter, albeit the last run was a flop, but she was looking for the paddock. Given a good break, jumped out well, she commands respect.
11 Tournelle (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be around the mark for Team Freedman. She ran over this trip on Seymour Cup Day when on speed throughout and tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through. She’ll be around the mark I’m sure.
Race 9. (17:30) The Sporing Globe After The Last Handicap (78) 1400m
10 Boltsaver (Bet Now: $SP.00) has been hit and miss this time in but I am convinced he is racing well and is worth an each way ticket. He ran over this trip at Ballarat last start when off speed and kept chasing in a good effort in defeat when third to Roussillon. More genuine tempo here, he can sit off and be strong late.
11 Big Sexy (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a promising animal for the Raymond/Bell team that comes here second up after a first up win at Hamilton when on speed and was trucking before being clicked up and away he went to win and win well. Good test here, but think he can measure up.
2 Dragoon (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs, with his last run being over the mile at The Valley on Sep 6 when doing too much work on speed and was a beaten horse, dropping out to finish tailed off last. Back to 1400m, he can run an improved race.
