Race 1. (15:40) Sportsbet Jockey Watch Mdn Plate 1400m
2 New Kingdom (Bet Now: $SP.00) for me in the opener. Symon Wilde trained gelding that debuted over 1200m at Warrnambool. He got off speed and was held up at times but when clear, he found the line quite well in defeat I thought behind Flick Roll. Fitter and up in trip, he takes holding out.
6 Ultra Blue (Bet Now: $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win for Tom Dabernig. Latest run saw him run second at Warrnambool over 1400m, attempting to lead throughout and giving a solid kick from the front but just felt the pinch late. Good racing style and with front end control, he’ll take running down.
3 Nic’s Choice (Bet Now: $SP.00) was a big price for John Moloney when racing in a 1400m maiden at Cranbourne last time, landing on speed and gave a big sight at a price but just had no answers late for Littlebirdie. Lands on speed comfortably here and should run well.
Race 2. (16:15) Tobin Brothers Celebrating Lives Mdn Plate 1200m
1 Highlands (Bet Now: $SP.00) has a bit on these I feel. Formerly with Godolphin, he is now with Gavin Bedggood and he is a gun trainer in Victoria when it comes to a tried horse. This guy is better suited over slightly further but has jumped out like a rocket for the return and finds a very thin race.
4 Controlled Zone (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came over 1000m at Mornington where he found them a bit sharp but kept finding the line and was good in defeat behind Tonkin, who won again last week to frank the form. Fitter and up in trip, he takes beating.
8 Kaddari (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Robbie Griffiths trained filly that resumes. She is first up, having not raced since July at Sale when well specked at odds and ran up to that support when third. Trialled well enough to my eye and good lead that Craig Williams is booked for the return. Market watch.
Race 3. (16:50) Sportsbet Fast Form (Bm70) 1400m
4 Our Queen (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks a talented mare and think she can make it 2/2 to start her career. Her debut win at Bendigo was electric, which came on June 27, sitting on speed and was trucking before being clicked up and away she went to win and win well. Given a good break and her jumpout work has been strong, so keen to see how she goes.
5 Sacred Rocks (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a key threat. Ciaron Maher trained mare that was a price when debuting over 1400m at Pakenham, getting the suck run in behind before angling clear and knuckled down with purpose late to win and win well. Can only think there is upside/improvement, she rates highly.
2 Queen Of Tuscany (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Robbie Griffiths trained mare that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since Aug 7 at this track/distance when off speed and struggled on the shifty track. Spelled soon after and off a good break, she looks to have jumped out well for the return.
Race 4. (17:25) Stow Storage Solutions (Bm64) 2400m
7 Scottie’s Legacy (Bet Now: $SP.00) has done little wrong in a five start career and is the straight bat play. Hasn’t raced since Jan 2 when a narrow winner over 1950m at Yarra Valley but despite the narrow margin, the win had merit given it wasn’t the best of set ups. Up in trip is fine IMO and she looks the one with upside/scope.
1 Vivideel (Bet Now: $SP.00) has to be given another look for Team McEvoy. Not sure what to make of his last start effort at Flemington three weeks ago when tailed off last behind Taramansour. He had a decent enough run in transit but when asked for the effort, he went backwards and was plain. He can bounce back with his best.
8 So Brave (Bet Now: $SP.00) is heading in the right direction and has upside/scope too. The maiden win at Mornington last time was quite good, getting better as the race went on and knuckled down best to score. Not sure he is ready to win a race like this but is one for exotics.
Race 5. (18:00) Sportsbet Get On Extra Hcp (C1) 1200m
Landed with 1 Fabrice (Bet Now: $SP.00) but not a whole lot of confidence here. Ciaron Maher trained gelding that resumes, having not raced since Aug 18 at Bendigo when finding a shifty track and struggled to pick up until very late behind Flying Valley. Better suited over further but has jumped out really well for the return.
6 Pop Award (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a key threat. Market said she was a good thing when resuming in a Geelong maiden and under a confident steer from Shinn, she was miles too good in an impressive return to the track. Has upside/scope compared to most and maps ideally.
7 Quiseen (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an Archie Alexander trained mare that resumes. She is first up, having not raced since June 12 at Ballarat when down the track, which followed an impressive debut win. Jumpout work to get ready for the return has been encouraging, I say watch the market and see what it does.
Race 6. (18:30) Lockettled.au (Bm64) 1400m
1 Lovin Laughs (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the each way play in what looks an open contest. Mick Sell trained gelding that ran over 1400m at Camperdown last time when getting the 1/1 sit and presented to win but just couldn’t quite finish the job when third to Crepescule. Maps perfect again and gets in well after the claim.
9 Sepals (Bet Now: $SP.00) stays at 1400m, which is the knock, but he looks a three year old with promise for Cliff Brown. Latest run was a maiden win at Sale, getting held up at times before getting clear air and drove hard late to win and win well. Despite staying at 1400m, think he can measure up.
3 My Roca Fella (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a John McArdle trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since Sep 13 at Geelong when getting the suck run in behind and finished best to win. Has looked pretty good in a couple of jumpouts and can sprint well fresh.
Race 7. (19:00) Senet Gambling Law Experts (Bm64) 1600m
6 Enxuto (Bet Now: $SP.00) is finding it hard to win but gee he is racing well and I think he finds a perfect race to tick off. He ran over the mile at Flemington last time where he got a fair way out of his ground and worked home with real purpose behind the very much in form One Long Day, who went within a lip of winning last weekend, so the form is ticked off, maps perfect, B Shinn…should win.
2 La Fracas (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be around the mark for Price/Kent. He ran a few weeks ago over the mile at Flemington when off speed and loomed but just found one better in the in form One Long Day. That form does read quite well for this and gets in well after the claim.
9 Pro Aussie (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes to metro level off the back of a maiden win at Sale when favourite, but a drifting favourite. B Shinn took bad luck out of the equation from the outset and he was dominant in winning. Good racing style and off a win, commands respect.
Race 8. (19:30) Sportsbet Race Replays (Bm70) 1200m
2 Intrepid Eagle (Bet Now: $SP.00) for me. Team McEvoy trains this gelding, who ran over 1200m at The Valley where he got a fair way back in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he did find the line and was pretty good in defeat. If he can settle closer, he’ll take holding out.
1 Anilla (Bet Now: $SP.00) is dangerous with his best. Team Hayes trained gelding that ran down the straight a few weeks back at Flemington when near the speed throughout and he tried his guts out but couldn’t quite get there and just felt the pinch late. Better run in transit, he can win.
7 Lady Di Di (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs for Cliff Brown, having not raced since Boxing Day at Caulfield where she got off speed and kept chasing in a pretty good effort in defeat behind Perilous Fighter. Maps to do no work in the run and her best is good enough.
