Caulfield will play host to nine races this Saturday for Bletchingly Stakes Day. Weather forecast is for showers, track is good (4) and the rail is out four metres for the entire circuit.

5 I Am Velvet (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a really nice prospect for Phillip Stokes. This filly resumed against the older horses in a 58 on the Pakenham Synthetic and despite being a tad keen in the run, the manner in which she put them away late in the piece was just so damn impressive. She is well above average and keen to see how she goes.

2 Dom (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Team Hayes trained gelding that comes into this off the back of a five length romp at Geelong where he led throughout and he just gapped his rivals under a confident front running steer from Shinn, who remains on for this race. Looks the leader, 1400m no issue and with front end control, will take beating.

6 Kalmina Views (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been strong in two career outings for John McArdle. Good win on debut at Pakenham before being given a spell. She then went to 1100m here two weeks back when resuming and was a real eye catcher late in the piece behind Manolo Bling, clocking good late splits. Like her up in trip and she should be strong at the end.

9 Berzeka (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a nice filly for Ciaron Maher. She debuted two weeks ago here and was an eye catcher from off the speed, finishing her race off strongly when third to Manolo Bling. Like her up in trip and dangerous if she can settle closer in the run.

1 Aldofito (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of Fastnet Rock for Moody/Coleman that is three weeks between runs since a strong debut win at Flemington down the straight where he got better as the race went on and was impressive in the run to the line. Good improvement to come, strong late, he appeals.

4 Ndola (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Team Hayes colt that comes here off the back of a debut win at Pakenham Synthetic where he was near the speed throughout and was absolutely trucking before being clicked up and he went through his gears like a nice horse to win and win well. Harder here, but think he can measure up.

5 Captain Electric (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top but not really a race I want to get involved in. Andrea Leek trained three year old that ran over 1700m last Saturday at Flemington where he got a fair way out of his ground but liked the way he finished his race off in defeat behind Le Zebra. Like him up in trip and strikes a winnable contest.

4 Pure Grunt (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks hard to beat for Team Keys. This gelding has been strong in three career runs. Latest run came a fortnight back over 2000m here when back off the speed and kept finding the line in a pretty good effort behind Rezone, beaten just under three lengths. 2400m looks ideal and this isn’t a deep race.

3 Do You Think So (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is bred to appreciate 2400m so I am not totally dismissing him. Just needed the run fresh at Pakenham before going here two weeks back off a five week break and just lacked the race fitness behind Rezone. Better set up this time around so keen to see how he goes.

2 Ferago (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday over 2800m at Flemington. He got back in the run and made up minimal headway in a plain effort. I do think he is a much better horse at Caulfield vs Flemington and he was several weeks between runs so with room for improvement, rates highly.

10 Matron Bullwinkel (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a slight query at 2400m but she does have a touch of quality about her and is racing well. She ran over 2000m here a fortnight back when off the speed and she kept chasing in a good effort behind impressive winner Jabbawockeez. If the 2400m is fine, then she rates as one of the hardest to beat.

1 Teewaters (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is looking to win this race for three years straight. Is he going as well vs the previous two wins? I am saying no, but he does look to have been set for it. He ran behind Jabbawockeez two weeks back at Caulfield. He got back to near last in the run and made up zero ground. Back miles in grade/depth, fitter and up in trip, he appeals.

6 Kundalini (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the best horse in the race IMO and if she’s ready to go, I think she wins. Formerly with Ciaron Maher, she is now with Grahame Begg and looks ready to go off impressive jumpout work, the latest at Pakenham Synthetic where she moved quite well under a hold when second. Hard to beat, especially if the inside gate can be used to advantage.

5 Herbert Park (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has done a super job this time in for Tony Noonan and has earned a crack at Saturday metro. Dominant win two back at Echuca before giving them a start and a beating, surging late to win at Sandown. Good test here against some likely types but confident she can measure up.

11 Sledding (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks the leader and will take beating from the front if that eventuates. This girl resumed in a Bendigo maiden where she found the front, got some form of control and was too sharp in the run to the line. Drawn gate one, she should hold a forward spot and from there, she’ll give a good sight.

9 Piastri (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been strong this time in and rates highly for mine. Ciaron Maher trained gelding that gave them a start and a beating to win fresh at Sale before going here when chasing and kept on in a good effort behind Marble Nine. Racing like 1200m will suit and overall, this isn’t a deep contest.

2 Steel City (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness for Ciaron Maher. This filly raced a fortnight back at this track/distance when just off the speed and while she seemingly had her chance, she was far from disgraced in defeat behind Marble Nine. Her best is clearly good enough. Just needs to show it.

6 Patchouli Dream (Bet Now:  $SP.00) commands respect for Ben Brisbourne. She won at Randwick a few weeks ago over 1300m, digging in strongly late under pressure to fend them off and get the win. Back in trip but maps to do no work and be strong late.

It’s hard to get away from 2 Recommendation (Bet Now:  $SP.00). His Monash win was arrogant from the front. Yes, may have found the right lane and got control, but the way he put them away late, he was impressive and the win rated like a proper G2 horse. None of these are at that level so with natural improvement, I think good luck beating him.

6 Mrs Chrissie (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran third to Recommendation in the Monash. She seemingly had her chance and was safely held but didn’t do a bad job at Stakes level. Like every horse here, I doubt she beats home Recommendation but runs well regardless, especially with juice in the track.

5 Marble Nine (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has done little wrong in a five start career for Team Corstens and rates as one of the key prospects. He won a fortnight back over 1100m here when on speed and credit to him, he was there to be beaten but he found under pressure to fend them off and get the win. If he can stretch his brilliance to 1200m, he’s cooking with gas as a key contender if the fav is off his game.

2 Jimmy The Bear (Bet Now:  $SP.00) seems the straight bat option. Gee he looked well suited last Friday in the Mildura Cup and duly saluted, giving them a spanking in such an awesome display. He was around a month between runs there so with good room for improvement, fitter and up in trip, he’ll take beating I say.

7 Green Fly (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Team Freedman since contesting the Winter Championship Final where he got off the speed and while he was never beating Munhamek, he found the line and was solid enough in defeat. If he can settle closer in the run, he’s going to take beating here.

9 Prince Of Helena (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a ripper and just so damn genuine so with that, I think he’s a contender. Earned a Big Dance start via a win in the Narrandera Cup last time out, giving them a start and a beating in a strong performance. He had run well in town prior to that and maps to get a suck run in transit.

13 Sandpaper (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is ready to win and appeals as hard to beat here. He ran at this track/distance a fortnight back when on speed and fought very hard in the straight but couldn’t quite see it through when beaten narrowly by El Rocko. If this track can be on the firmer side, and with a bunny to chase, he is the one for me.

6 The Open (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a very genuine animal for Patrick Payne that has won five of his seven career outings. He ran at the midweeks at Sandown last time where he got into a good spot off the speed before angling into clear air and gee he let down with purpose to win and win well. Hard to beat against this lot.

3 Regardsmaree (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is capable with his best. Nick Ryan trained gelding that ran two weeks ago at this track/distance. He got back off the speed and on a shifty track, he couldn’t quite fire and was a bit on the plain side late in the piece behind Astero but with a firmer deck potentially on the cards, his prior efforts were more than good enough to give this a shake.

BEST BET: Race Seven Number 1 Recommendation

NEXT BEST: Race Eight Number 2 Jimmy The Bear

LONG SHOT: Race Two Number 9 Berzeka
