Racing in Adelaide this Saturday returns to the Parks track at Morphettville for an eight race card. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out three metres for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (12:55PM) Thirsty Camel Cup Dec 21 Maiden Plate 1250m
7 Magic Reward (Bet Now: $3.50) should be winning this. Peter Hardacre trains this filly, who showed really good speed on debut at Hamilton, leading and giving a good kick when a narrow second to Reward The Maid. I think the 1250m will be no issue and on this track lately, being on speed has been the A1 spot to be.
9 Sizzling Affair (Bet Now: $6.50) looks to be racing well for the Jolly stable. Just has to run out a strong 1250m. Ran over 1100m at Gawler last time and worked home well but was clearly no match for the impressive resuming winner Symphonette. Off that, I think the 1250m will be okay. But still is a question mark.
8 Royal Ring (Bet Now: $9.00) is a Macdonald/Gluyas trained filly who has shown a bit of promise in her four career outings. Just got a tad too far back last time on the course proper but was sound late behind Wrecking Crew, who ran well last Saturday in a strong 3YO race. Think she wants 1400m, but the speed in front should suit her.
Race 2. (1:30PM) Mypunter.com Handicap (82) 1000m
Speed should be hot here and I think that will well and truly suit the David Jolly trained 7 Thompson’s Reward (Bet Now: $3.20). Ran an enormous race in the Lightning two back behind Nature Strip before being wide no cover throughout behind Debt Collector. Resumes without a trial but he’s lethal fresh and will ambush late.
4 Mystified (Bet Now: $3.50) is a quality mare resuming for the Ryan Balfour team. This girl was really hot and colt last time in but did manage an all the way win over 1200m on the course proper. Trialled well enough behind Miss Wahoo and form out of that trial has been franked via Zalmona last Saturday. Hard to beat.
3 I’m A Princess (Bet Now: $7.00) is an interesting runner. Middle distance/staying mare resuming for Tony McEvoy who strung together a couple of wins towards the end of last year. Hasn’t been seen since but did win first up last prep. Can’t find trials/jump outs for her, so she’s clearly a yard/market watch.
Race 3. (2:05PM) AAMI Handicap (68) 1000m
I reckon this is beautiful placement by the Cozamanis team with 2 Rock Hard (Bet Now: $3.90). He’s just not quite up to Melbourne grade as a three year old so I think the drop back here suits. He comes through a 64 over 1000m at the Valley where he didn’t have much luck in the run behind Manihi Mischief. This looks more his go. Hopefully he can roll along on speed and prove hard to run down.
9 Black Champagne (Bet Now: $7.50) is a Tony McEvoy trained filly resuming. Had three runs in the Autumn to kick off her career, where she won on debut at Murray Bridge before not being far away in a couple of blacktype events, and then was tipped out. Trialled alongside a handy one in Heaven’s Deal and looked pretty good to the eye. Market will be the guide.
3 Heaven’s Deal (Bet Now: $7.00) is a Team Jolly trained filly who was I really keen on when resuming over this track/distance four weeks ago but she was simply awful after sitting on speed, finishing last in the field of four won by stablemate Schilldora. Showed good promise as a two year old and trialled well leading up to the resumption so happy to give her another look.
Race 4. (2:40PM) Filly & Fox Fundraiser Handicap (70) 1950m
Looks to be good placement by Mick Price here with 9 I Have Arrived (Bet Now: $3.80). This four year old ran over the mile on Cranbourne Cup Day where he settled midfield and seemingly had his chance but was far from disgraced for mine behind Black Sail. Being by Savabeel, the rise to 1950m should suit and the depth here is rather thin.
4 Macrobius (Bet Now: $8.00) looks another placed nicely, this one trained by Jamie Edwards. Ran over 2000m at Caulfield last time where he sat on speed and though well held the form looks pretty good with the winner being the above average Lucky For All. Should land on speed here and prove hard to run down.
3 Gracena (Bet Now: $6.50) should just about be ready to show something positive. Has only beaten a couple of runners home in both runs this time but they have been in unsuitable races. Drops back to 70 grade and steps up to a trip where she has won at in the past. Got upside and likes racing here so giving her a chance.
Race 5. (3:15PM) Sons Of Eden Wines Handicap (Class 3) 1250m
Keen on 2 Miss Wahoo (Bet Now: $2.20), who resumes for Tony McEvoy. This girl hasn’t raced since February in the Angus Armanasco when running a close up third to Summer Sham. Been given a fair break and her two trials leading in, most notably her latest, looked outstanding to the eye. Think she’s ready to rock and roll.
3 Mr Hamilton (Bet Now: $3.90) is a Will Clarken trained four year old who was confidently backed when winning first up over this track/distance before backing up a week later on the course proper and running a strong second to Midnight Storm. Third up now, so he should be hard fit, ready to go, and he has fitness on his side.
4 Skillful Steps (Bet Now: $13.00) is a Team Jolly trained gelding who resumed over 1400m here a month back and to the eye, he was disappointing, but the winner Holy Command is above average and first up at 1400m with no trials was an ask. Noteworthy he was backed late. Back to 1250m with the run under the belt should suit.
Race 6. (3:55PM) Hit107 Handicap (64) 1000m
6 Duchess Grace (Bet Now: $7.00) for me. Lloyd Kennewell trains this mare, who resumes after a somewhat mixed campaign in the Winter. Impressive maiden win on the Parks track before being dreadful at Gawler but she did slip at the start and the winner of the race, Amberdi, is above average. Loved the way she went in a recent trial and appears ready to go.
9 Paris Crystal (Bet Now: $5.50) is a daughter of Stratum resuming for Tony McEvoy. This three year old hasn’t raced since the Oaklands Plate last year where she finished down the track behind Terry. Had showed promise prior but can’t find a recent trial or jump out for her so the market will clearly be the guide.
11 Vikings Reward (Bet Now: $26.00) could blouse these with the right run. He resumes for John Hyam and has been such a frustrating horse to follow since his 2YO/3YO days where promised a fair bit but hasn’t been able to go on with it. Was unlucky not to win fresh last time though and his career best efforts have come fresh.
Race 7. (4:45PM ) Viddora Series Final (80) 1300m
Sue Jaensch has a fab record with her runners, especially first up, and when they’re in town, I’ll be on so I’m siding with 3 Amberdi (Bet Now: $5.00). Hasn’t raced since August 25 when winning impressively over 1200m on the course proper. The fact she resumes at 1300m fresh tells me she’s wound up for a first up assault.
1 Prepare To Win (Bet Now: $4.40) is a daughter of Bel Esprit for the Hayes/Dabernig team who was kept pretty safe in betting when racing over 1200m on the course proper a fortnight ago and despite being strongly challenged in the straight, she found plenty late and proved too good. That was her first run in a month so there should be room for improvement.
2 Embecee Lil (Bet Now: $11.00) was a month between runs when contesting the Prepare To Win from a fortnight ago and I think the lack of race fitness along with the 60.5kg impost just found her out late. She tends to save her best for the Parks track and she’ll get much needed weight relief this time around. She can bounce back.
Race 8. (5:34PM) White Marquee Handicap (70) 1400m
13 All That She Wants (Bet Now: $8.00) is a Hayes/Dabernig trained daughter of Wanted who is 2/2 to start her career. Thought there was a lot of merit in her first up win at Wangaratta where she led all the way despite copping serious head midrace. Form out of that race has been decent enough. Just needs to tick the 1400m box.
Want to give 6 Debt Collector (Bet Now: $3.10) another chance. Looked well placed last time out on the course proper but he was tardy away and the tempo of the race wasn’t quick so he didn’t really have things to suit when down the track behind Miss Jane. He’s much better than that, and if the tempo is more genuine this time around, he can bounce back.
4 Trogir (Bet Now: $10.00) is getting close to his D-Day. He ran over 1300m here three weeks ago where he sat off the speed and loomed large to win but couldn’t quite go on with it when midfield behind Midnight Storm. Third up, he should just about be ready fitness wise and at his best, he’s certainly up to these.
