A strong card of racing has been assembled for the Sunshine Coast this Tuesday, where it is Sunshine Coast Cup Day. The weather is overcast, the track is good (4) and the rail is out four metres for the entire circuit.

Race One (12:54) : Stanley River Thoroughbreds 2YO Maiden Plate 1300m:
Back Me: Going for some value in the shape of 5 Mobile (Best Odds: $41.00). Just forget his debut run at Toowoomba given he was back in the ruck then copped nasty interference from a fallen horse and lost all chance. He was kept safe in the market there, so I’ll respect that, and this is a very winnable race.
Big Danger: 12 Royal Tithe (Best Odds: $2.10) ran in the big two year old race on January 16 here where she tried hard, but was no match for impressive winner Love Spy. Much easier here, has the form on the board and should take some beating.
Roughie: 13 Stryking Summah (Best Odds: $5.50) is a stablemate of Royal Tithe who ran in that same race mentioned above, where she got back in the run and worked home okay late to finish just over three lengths from the winner. She can definitely win this with some luck from the inside gate.

Race Two (13:29) : Access Insulation Maiden Plate 1200m:
Back Me: 9 Devil’s Princess (Best Odds: $4.40) resumes here for Gillian Heinrich off a 167 day break. Four year old mare who has been given plenty of time and looked sharp in a recent Gold Coast trial. Looks the one to beat.
Big Danger: 3 Irish Bandit (Best Odds: $2.80) made its Queensland debut for Tony Gollan at Ipswich where he sat on a hot speed and just faded late when running sixth to Delightful Feeling. Should roll forward again from the gate and with the run under the belt, he should improve.
Roughie: 5 Dashley Dubh (Best Odds: $13.00) ran last time out at Ballina and was pretty good I thought when running third to Elmotino, the horse that Devil’s Princess in that Gold Coast trial, so this son of Dubleo can definitely measure up without surprising.

Race Three (14:04) : Access Insulation Maiden Plate 1200m:
Back Me: 8 Beckoning Light (Best Odds: $5.50) sat four wide no cover last time out on a bog surface at Doomben and stuck on very well when third to Morning Fog. Drawn terribly here, but the firmer track should help and this is a winnable race.
Big Danger: 7 Oh So Quiet (Best Odds: $5.50) debuts here for Tony Gollan. This son of Octagonal comes into this race with no trials, but as is the case with all Tony Gollan first strarters, they should be respected.
Roughie: 14 One Mansini (Best Odds: $7.50) ran over this track/distance a tick over two weeks back and worked home strongly from the back to run third to Shirotai, beaten just over a length in a really good effort. Has upside, trained on the track and should sit closer from the good gate.

Race Four (14:39) : Stanley River Thoroughbreds Handicap (70) 1800m:
Back Me: 2 Walk To The Bar (Best Odds: $2.00) on top for me, but with no confidence. This horse ran over this track/distance on January 16 and stuck on well when running fifth to Stakes performer Lordag. Much weaker here, but he hasn’t won for a while, which is the negative, but I’ll take a chance on him.
Big Danger: 4 Canongate (Best Odds: $4.20) stepped up in grade last time out over this track/distance and ran poorly when last to the Stakes performed Lordag. This is his right level, he handles all condition and gets the services of gun apprentice Jimmy Orman.
Roughie: 1 Surface Tension (Best Odds: $6.00) has been given a three week freshen up since making up ground over this track/distance to run seventh to Cramming, beaten just under six lengths. This is much easier, and is well weighted after the claim.

Race Five (15:14) : Access Insulation Handicap 1600m:
Back Me: 1 Legal Procedure (Best Odds: $2.40) is a Rockhampton visitor who has been simply too good for the locals up there at his past couple, with the latest resulting in a five length romp. Has to carry the 58kg, but he is a proven weight carrier.
Big Danger: 3 Favoured Grace (Best Odds: $3.80) had been luckless in several starts, but the breaks went her way last start at Ipswich and she looked home, but was nailed in the last couple of strides by Princess Charm. Gets a 1.5kg weight swing and will be better on the bigger track.
Roughie: 4 Princess Charm (Best Odds: $4.60) closed off well two back at Gatton before running in that Ipswich race mentioned above where she just savaged the line from the back to win quite impressively. Has to repeat it here for me to have confidence in her, but she will get back and charge late.

Race Six (15:50) : Access Insulation Handicap (65) 1400m:
Back Me: 4 Fusina (Best Odds: $10.00) ran over 1350m at Ipswich last start and stuck on very gamely when running second to Magazine Miss, beaten just under two lengths. Draws a bit awkwardly here, but he has upside and this is a very winnable race.
Big Danger: 2 Gotta Zip (Best Odds: $34.00) resumed over 1300m here and worked home alright late in the piece when fourth to Sambuca Shot, beaten seven lengths. He is a second up winner who will be better here and is a definite winning chance.
Roughie: 12 Shantico (Best Odds: $17.00) is a bit of a non winner, but she tries hard, as we saw last time out over this track/distance when fifth to proven city performer Red Claw. If she can overcome the tricky draw, she’ll be around the mark.

Race Seven (16:30) : Stanley River Thoroughbreds Handicap (65) 1400m:
Back Me: 7 Katelette (Best Odds: $6.00) ran over 1200m at Ipswich last time out and closed off nicely when fourth to Castanita, beaten a length. Bigger track and extra furlong will only be beneficial and she’ll prove hard to beat.
Big Danger: 4 No Problem (Best Odds: $11.00) closed off his race well last start at Gatton when running third to Roman Secret, beaten a length. Drawn terribly, but he’ll get back anyway and look to ambush them late in the race.
Roughie: 12 Scrap Copper (Best Odds: $11.00) is trained on the track and has been freshened up since failing at Doomben behind Assertory, who franked the form by winning recently at this track. Gets right down in the weights and will be around the mark somewhere with luck from the gate.

Back Me: 4 Four Excel (Best Odds: $6.50) has been very consistent this time in for local trainer Stuart Kendrick, with his last start resulting in a third to Tactician over 1200m here. Back to 1000m suits and Damian Brown jumps back aboard.
Big Danger: 5 Oradonna (Best Odds: $4.20) broke her maiden status in very impressive fashion over this track/distance, winning by a space and running fast time. Fradd remains on, she draws well and has plenty of upside.
Roughie: 10 Runway Angel (Best Odds: $10.00) is a stablemate of the top tip who resumed at Ipswich and made up good ground late when running third to Mishani Viking, beaten just under four lengths. Draws awkwardly, but with some luck, she can be a threat.

Back Me: 1 Steel Zip (Best Odds: $7.50) is a greybeard who is racing as well as ever. His effort on Magic Millions Day behind Buffering was excellent given he was wide most of the way. He’ll do no work from gate one here and Brad Stewart rides the horse very well.
Big Danger: 10 Murt The Flirt (Best Odds: $4.60) ran in the Magic Millions Cup (1400m) last start and stuck on very well when running fourth to multiple Group l winner Lucky Hussler. He’ll get the run of the race here and has the right form around him.
Roughie: 12 Buakaw (Best Odds: $51.00) is the best roughie in the race. He ran over this track/distance last time out and worked home strongly without threatening when fifth to impressive winner Right Or Wrong. Down on the minimum here, and though drawn wide, he’ll charge home late.

Race Ten (18:20) : Stanley River Thoroughbreds Handicap (75) 1200m:
Back Me: 11 Little White (Best Odds: $2.90) resumed a tick under five weeks back over this trip at Doomben where he finished his race off very strongly to get the job done impressively, beating home a subsequent winner, so the form reads well, and he does race best when produced fresh.
Big Danger: 14 Kariega (Best Odds: $15.00) ran over 1300m a couple of weeks back and was very disappointing I thought when running sixth to Sambuca Shot. Back to 1200m suits, he is down in the weights and on his best form, he’d take some beating here.
Roughie: 4 Unbowed (Best Odds: $19.00) resumes here for Pat Duff. He performed pretty well last time in, with most of the races containing stronger fields than what he faces here. Expecting him to be forward in condition here given he has had a couple of solid trials.
