26/3/2022 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Morphettville, Clare Lindop Stakes day

Morphettville Parks is where SA metro racing heads to this Saturday where nine races have been set down, keeping in mind races six and seven are on the main track. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

1 Aitch Two Oh (Bet Now: $1.65) looks a pretty sharp filly for the Jolly camp. Market loved her when she debuted at Morphettville on Boxing Day and the market got it spot on. Led throughout and gave them a spanking in a great display. Off that performance, she is the #1 juvenile in SA I feel and looked outstanding in a Murray Bridge trial win. Keen.

7 Seporia (Bet Now: $7.00) is a horse I am respecting. Daughter of Sepoy for Phillip Stokes that is on debut. I can’t find a trial/jumpout for her, and with this stable, a betting stable, that could mean many things, so I think it’s best to watch the market and see if there is a push.

4 Aesculus (Bet Now: $10.00) is a Chris Bieg trained filly that is on debut. She’s had a couple of jumpouts to get ready for start one, the latest seeing her lead throughout under a good hold whereas those around her was pushed for an effort. Gate one, early speed, good recipe for this track.

1 Munster (Bet Now: $2.30) looks hard to beat. Michael Hickmott trained gelding that ran on Adelaide Cup over this trip. He sat near the speed and when the big effort was asked, he found and looked home, only to be nabbed on the peg by Sparkup. He’s come back really well and should prove hard to beat.

6 Rialtor (Bet Now: $3.80) is on the seven day back up for Stuart Padman after leading throughout to win here last Saturday. He had the bias in his corner, but even allowing for that. the win was good because he was there to be run down. More depth here, but hard to knock the way he’s racing.

2 Aiguilette (Bet Now: $7.50) has a fab track/distance record. Three weeks between runs since racing over this trip at Murray Bridge where he paraded like he would need the run and that’s how it panned out behind Munster, who has run well since. Trial since was strong and at a track/trip he loves, he’s in the mix for sure.

4 Enbarr (Bet Now: $11.00) will take beating if this track continues to play on speed/fence in run. He is a very hard horse to get past when he leads, as seen last week at Penola when leading throughout. He was there to be run down but found plenty under pressure and was too good. He’ll give a bold sight.

7 Prince Of Fences (Bet Now: $3.80) looks the most progressive of this lot. Michael Hickmott trains this gelding, who spanked them at Strathalbyn two back before racing at Murray Bridge where he tried hard, but was clearly no match for Sanblas, with a gap to third. He’s racing well and should take beating here.

6 Master Of Zerprise (Bet Now: $34.00) should love the rise to 1950m for Mick Huxtable. Just found them a bit sharp fresh over 1400m at Murray Bridge. He then went to the mile on Adelaide Cup and again, the trip was too short behind Tullys Gold. Drops in depth but the big tick is a rise to 1950m. An improved showing is on the cards.

Back to 1000m I do like for 3 All Important (Bet Now: $8.50). Gate one, Opperman sticking, it’s just jump and run I feel. He’s been racing poorly his past couple but he has copped pressure and tired late. I think 1000m is ideal for him and the way he likes to race. He’ll take beating if he brings his best.

2 Two Odd Sox (Bet Now: $12.00) doesn’t have the best of racing patterns but he’ll be charging late if they overdo it in front, and generally in these 1000m races on this track, they do go hard. He ran behind Heyington Station two back and while he was never a threat, I liked the way he finished his race off. He then found a thin race at Clare and was too good. Dangerous if he’s within range on the turn.

4 Aston Rapova (Bet Now: $5.50) is a son of Nicconi for the Francis/Kent camp that resumes. He hasn’t raced since November 20 when down the track and looking for the paddock behind Appalachian. Not really a noted fresh horse, but I was taken by a recent trial win, so keen to see he resumes and what the market does.

1 Max Fire (Bet Now: $6.50) is racing in super form for Travis Doudle. Helped by the bias two back at Balaklava but he ran out of his skin in the Guineas last Monday. Loomed to beat Ancient Girl but couldn’t quite finish it off when fourth to that filly. The form has to read well for this.

3 Residue (Bet Now: $7.00) is knocking on the door to win this time in. Mick Huxtable trained three year old that ran last Monday in the Morphettville Guineas and he ran a beauty I thought from off the speed when fifth to Ancient Girl. He’s now third up, so he should be hard fit, ready to go.

4 Maracourt (Bet Now: $7.50) is a progressive three year old for Michael O’Leary that comes to town off the back of a strong win from off the speed on the home track at Mount Gambier, which can be suspect form given that track can be horses for courses, but he’s lightly raced and the stable do command respect when they come to town.

2 Struck By… (Bet Now: $2.00) oh he’s back alright. He looked a serious horse this time last year but last prep, his form had tapered right off. He’s come back this time in with a couple of electric on speed wins and no doubt in my mind he’s ready for blacktype again. Confident he can measure up here and potentially be a contender for races during the Adelaide Carnival.

9 Quietly Discreet (Bet Now: $3.30) deserves another chance. This mare is three weeks between runs since contesting the Magic Millions 3&4YO Classic where on face value, she was ordinary, but was found to have had colic post race, so a clear excuse. Off the first up win, she can take this out.

5 Extra Mile (Bet Now: $13.00) is much better suited at this level IMO. He ran in the Matrice on Adelaide Cup Day and just found the likes of Ironclad and Manhattan Times too sharp, so be forgiving of that. This looks more his go, and third up from a break, he should be read re fitness levels.

2 Saucey Horsey (Bet Now: $6.50) is an above average filly for the Maher/Eustace camp that I think can measure up here. Not sure she beat much first up at Hamilton but it was a really good effort given she was first up on a very testing track and beat up the older horses. She’s the SA Oaks pony for me and confident she can run well here to assert herself as indeed an Oaks contender.

Class will carry 1 Mac ‘N’ Cheese (Bet Now: $2.50) a long way for Team McEvoy. Resumed over 1200m on Adelaide Cup Day where she looked in trouble getting clear but once she got clear air, her class came to the fore and she surged hard late to win. Straight to the mile, bur has the class.

9 Last Girl Love (Bet Now: $7.50) should love the rise to the mile. Resumed over 1400m two weeks ago where she was near the speed and did come off the bit a tad early but loved the way she toughed it out when second to Rich Gina. The rise to the mile looks ideal and she’s clearly got upside to come, especially for an in form stable.

1 Wordy (Bet Now: $2.60) is bursting to win a race for Team Kav. Game third to subsequent winner Jaffastock two back at The Valley before racing here where he closed off strongly, just missing out on the win when second to Lake’s Folly, who won again last Saturday, so the form around him reads well…surely he gets his turn to greet the judge?

9 Eventually (Bet Now: $3.90) has the best engine of this lot I feel. Just upstairs, she’s not there. But, the maiden win at Balaklava last time was full of merit. She was there to be run down but found plenty under pressure and was strong in winning. Tricky draw, but clearly has more upside than most.

Fitter and up to 1550m are two big ticks for 3 Cafe Rizu (Bet Now: $4.40). Will Clarken trained mare that had her first run for the new stable two weeks ago over 1200m and while she was never really a winning threat, didn’t mind the way she finished her race off behind dominant winner Struck By. Good second up record and has a touch of quality when she’s on song.

4 Tongsai Boss (Bet Now: $26.00) has a good third up record and has a real liking for the Parks track so an improved showing is definitely on the cards. He ran over 1200m on Adelaide Cup Day and wasn’t too bad in defeat behind Sparkup. He’ll love the rise to 1400m and with his track stats, he’s in the mix.

7 Kermy (Bet Now: $5.00) is a beauty for Phillip Stokes that has been up a little while but is just so damn honest. Month between runs when racing over this trip at Pakenham under the lights. He tried his guts out from on speed but just felt the pinch late when a close up third to Oriental Legend. That form looks to read well here.

Fitter and up to 1400m are two big ticks for 2 Lord Bouzeron (Bet Now: $19.00). He resumed over 1250m here two weeks ago and was never really a threat but didn’t mind the way he finished his race off behind Struck By. He’ll be better over further, but the resumption was encouraging and he’s got more upside than most.

LONG SHOT: Race Nine Number 4 Tongsai Boss
