Ten races have been set down for Launceston on Wednesday for Launceston Cup Day. Weather is fine, track is good (4) and the rail is out three metres for the entire circuit.

3 Light Force (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top in the opener but not really a race I want to get involved in. He resumed just over two weeks ago over 1100m at Hobart when hunting forward to hold an on speed spot and did try hard but just felt the pinch late. Fitter, up in trip, he’ll do me.

10 Black Raptor (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was pretty good in defeat on debut over this trip when off speed and was good late when third. Gets in well after the claim and better for the run, she appeals against this lot IMO. Leading contender.

6 In Your Dreams (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of Kermadec that debuts. He looks to have trialled up well enough for start one and overall, this isn’t an overly deep race so I’d say watch the market and see what it does.

14 Who’s In Dev (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win and I think she gets her chance here. She resumed over 1200m here a few weeks ago when leading and tried hard but had no answers late for Bad Alibi. Should get front end control this time around and take running down.

8 Joejoe (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was game in defeat last Sunday over this trip at Hobart. He was wide no cover for the trip but stayed on and was quite game in defeat when third. If that hasn’t busted him, I’d say he’s right in the mix here.

1 Cardiosphere (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps up to 1400m after attempting to lead throughout over 1100m here. She gave a decent sight from the front but just found them a bit sharp late. Up in trip suits, good racing style, a first four contender.

6 Obviously Good (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is in a purple patch for Siggy Carr. The two recent wins have come over 1200m here, leading throughout each time and has been impressive in the run to the line. If 1400m is no issue, with his racing style, he’ll give a decent sight.

2 Agnete (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran second at this track/distance last start when getting into a sweet spot just off speed and tried hard but was no match late for Coal River. Maps ideally again and gets Froggy aboard again. Rates highly.

1 Hurricane Ketut (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came over 1200m at Hobart when off speed and was never really a factor. Better suited here up in trip with the run under the belt, watch betting.

4 Vino Novello (Bet Now:  $SP.00) to bounce back for me. He was plain last start at this track/distance but I think he just got too far back in the run and in a race not really run to suit, I want to be forgiving. Gets in well after the claim and with a half positive steer, I think he’ll only run well.

2 Johnnie Pinch (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an honest animal that should be around the mark, as seen over 2000m on Hobart Cup Day when attempting to lead throughout and he gave a decent sight from the front but had no answers late for No Rumours, who I like in the Cup, so I think that form clearly reads well for this.

12 Speed Rock (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran second in the No Rumours race mentioned above. He sat on speed outside Johnnie Pinch and tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through and had no answers for the Preusker runner. He’ll give cheek I am sure.

3 Perspiration (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Listed winner when with Ciaron Maher. He’s had a few runs for John Keys and has been pretty good each time he has stepped out, the latest being a Magic Millions Classic win at Hobart. If he can translate it to Launceston, he’s dangerous.

1 Geegees Gemstone (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is in the mix for Stuart Gandy. She is a few weeks between runs since racing in the Ladbrokes Stakes when on speed and tried hard but had no answers late when second to Mazzini. Maps ideally, commands respect.

2 Turk Warrior (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is several weeks between runs since racing in the Ladbrokes Stakes at this track/distance. He did early work and that petrol burning told on him late in the piece. Better run in transit this time around…doubt he wins but can run first four.

2 Prince Of Khatun (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps up to 1200m after an impressive win over 1000m at Hobart last time, giving them a start and a beating and was quite arrogant late I thought in the way he won. Like him up in trip, maps to settle handy and be effective late.

1 Mazzini (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran over this trip at Hobart a few weeks ago where he got into a decent spot on speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite see it through behind Perspiration. Better suited at this level, he’s around the mark I say.

8 Geegees Missile (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a key threat. She steps up to 1200m after racing over 1000m at Hobart when on speed and fought hard to the line but had to settle for a second to Prince Of Khatun. Should press forward and give cheek.

1 Steparty (Bet Now:  $SP.00) would have been a tragedy beaten in the Thomas Lyons. It was a slaughter by Allen but the horse got him out of trouble and he was too good. His confidence is up, 1600m, WFA…he clearly appeals.

3 Durazzo (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was slaughtered as well. He was wide no cover throughout and despite that hard run, he was there to win and only was nabbed late. Better run in transit this time around, he’s clearly dangerous.

2 First Accused (Bet Now:  $SP.00) sat on speed in the Thomas Lyons and tried hard but he couldn’t quite finish the race off and was just fair late. Not sure he is good enough to win but can run first four at a price.

13 Zany Girl (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a great each way gamble. She was very good in defeat in the Mystic Journey. She got off speed and was held up at times but was good late behind Sanniya. She’ll love the rise to 1400m and with a more positive ride, she only runs well.

12 Sanniya (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a star filly that stretched her brilliance to 1200m in the Mystic Journey. She led throughout and the arrogance of the win…my goodness she was impressive. Can she stretch it to 1400m? If yes, she likely wins. But I’ll just watch her at the short odds.

1 Jaguar Stone (Bet Now:  $SP.00) sat on speed in the Mystic Journey. She ran an honest race but was outclassed when down the track behind Sanniya. I doubt she wins but she could pinch first four at a price.

15 No Rumours (Bet Now:  $SP.00) each way for me. He steps up to 2400m after a win over 2000m at Hobart, giving them a start and a beating in an impressive effort. Much harder here, but do like the rise to 2400m for him and maps to do no work.

1 Major Beel (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been freshened up since the MM Subzero when on speed and he tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through. Tick over trial was quite good, lands on speed and only runs well.

5 Strawberry Rock (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes through the Hobart Cup. He got a fair way out of his ground and did make up headway but couldn’t quite sustain the run. Think with a more positive steer, he’s dangerous at odds.

6 Golden Meadow (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should prove hard to beat after racing over 1100m at Hobart when off speed and worked home with real purpose late when second. Like her up to 1200m, can settle closer and prove hard to beat.

3 Royal Infantry (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1200m after racing over 1400m at Hobart. He got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he was good late. He’ll be strong late. Just depends what start he concedes.

4 Eastcoast Miss (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran over 1390m at Hobart last start. She was back off speed and was okay late but seemingly had her chance. Back in trip suits, I think she’s a knockout hope against this lot.

LONG SHOT: Race Eight Number 13 Zany Girl
