A bumper nine race card will be run and won at Morphettville on Saturday where it is Finals Day. Weather is fine, track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (12:47) Fileur Country Mile Final (Bm70) 1600m
3 Chipson (Bet Now: $SP.00) seems the straight bat option for Jeff Searle. Market kept him very safe in betting when racing last Saturday over 1500m and it was proven correct as he knuckled down strongly from off the speed to win and win well. He looks suited up to the mile and this race looks no harder. The one to beat IMO.
4 Point Blaze (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a proven metro performer so in a Country Final, she rates highly. Market kept her quite safe in betting when racing at Naracoorte two weeks ago where she gave them a start and a beating in a sharp display, letting down with purpose and was sharp in winning. 1600m is a slight query but off the last start, she commands respect.
5 Peacemaker (Bet Now: $SP.00) has won at the mile previously and getting back up in trip, he appeals here. He ran second to Point Blaze at Naracoorte just under two weeks back where he had a suck run in behind the speed and battled away pretty well in defeat behind Point Blaze, albeit he seemingly had every chance. Not sure he wins but can pinch a top four spot.
Race 2. (13:22) Rebel Raider Series Final 1200m
Why can’t 1 Santastico (Bet Now: $SP.00) win again for Matty Seyers. He has this horse humming at the moment, winning three on the bounce. Put together a couple of wins at the Provincials before going to the Parks track two weeks ago where he had to fight for the win given he led and copped heat but gee he was strong and impressive. Hard to knock the way he’s racing.
8 Nasho (Bet Now: $SP.00) is racing well for Team Oxlade that commands respect. He looked all over a winner on the Parks track a fortnight back but he couldn’t quite get past Santastico and had to settle for a second. He’s found a purple patch and I think he only has to hold his form to be around the mark against these.
5 Anotherhouse (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be suited back up to 1200m. Strong maiden winner here at the trip two back before going back to 1100m three weeks back where he wasn’t really suited by the sit/sprint but kept on and was pretty good in defeat when third to Kinetic Jewel. Back up in trip, more genuine tempo, he’s good enough to win this for sure.
Race 3. (13:57) Country Sprint Series Final (Bm70) 1200m
8 Lotza Bubbles (Bet Now: $SP.00) is hard to beat for Phillip Stokes. This mare ran at Bordertown last time where she produced sustained speed from the front, giving nothing else a look in, winning impressively in solid time. Good racing style and off that win, for a leading stable, she should prove hard to beat.
2 Star Jan (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a key chance. Jeff Searle trained mare that resumed just under two weeks ago at Naracoorte where she was chasing from the outset in the 1100m contest but she stuck on and found the line well enough I thought behind Hi Smokey. Fitter and up to 1200m, she rates for me as one of the leading contenders.
5 Yardstick (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one I can entertain for wider multiples. He put together a couple of wins on the bounce at the Provincials before racing here on Cup Day when back near last in the run and made up minimal headway but that said, he didn’t really get the rub of the green. Better luck this time around, he can run an improved race at odds.
Race 4. (14:32) Happy Trails Final 1600m
4 Thirsty Guest (Bet Now: $SP.00) has been up a while but is seemingly holding his form and I think he’s the one to beat once again. He looked a good thing last Saturday at this track/distance and despite a few nervous moments in the straight, class came to the fore and he was too good. Runs up to his recent efforts, he’s the likely winner.
9 Master At Arms (Bet Now: $SP.00) is flying at the moment for Stuart Gower and no reason why he can’t win again. He was kept safe in betting two weeks ago on the Parks track and under a peach from Potter, he was able to slice his way through the field and gee he was strong late in getting the win over an in form Anjopin. Unknown at 1400m but off last start, he’ll be fine and IMO is hard to beat.
6 Magnetic Edge (Bet Now: $SP.00) is racing quite honestly for Hickmott/Riggs and a win won’t totally shock. He ran behind Thirsty Guest last Saturday when wide no cover for the trip but despite that, he kept on and was quite good in defeat to finish third. Down in the weights, more kind map this time around…must for multiples.
Race 5. (15:12) Skybeau Series Final (Bm80) 2500m
4 Ammo Amor (Bet Now: $SP.00) just has to run the 2500m and I think he’ll be winning. 2250m was the query with him two weeks ago on the Parks track but he got a lovely ride by Metcalfe and once the gelding got clear, away he went and he gapped them. Off that, 2500m should be no issue, he’s flying this time in and all things being equal, he is clearly the one they have to beat.
7 Zoffala (Bet Now: $SP.00) is steadily getting better with racing for Darren McLeod and is a key threat. He stepped up to 2250m a fortnight back and was good from the back but on the line was held when second to Ammo Amor. He has won at the trip previously when trained by Team McEvoy so rising to it here should be fine and his best is more than good enough.
5 Canford (Bet Now: $SP.00) is racing for the third Saturday on the bounce and seems to be handling the workload fine. He ran last Saturday at this track/distance when ridden stone cold and he worked home quite well late in the piece behind Hasta La Fiorente, beaten under two lengths. Not sure I could back him to win, but he can pinch a first four spot.
Race 6. (15:52) David Peacock Restricted Series Final (Rs0ly) 1800m
12 Just Joking (Bet Now: $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win for Andrew Gluyas and she strikes a thin Class 2 IMO. She ran on Cup Day here where she seemingly had every chance behind the speed. Presented to win at the top of the straight but couldn’t quite finish it off when fourth to Caliburn. She was a few weeks between runs there so with room for improvement, she rates highly.
5 Dazzling Prospect (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a horse I want to give another chance to. He gave them an absolute spanking at Gawler two back before going here on Cup Day where he was a heavily backed favourite but gee he seemingly had every chance and was a bit on the plain side behind Hobo Bob. I can’t ignore the Gawler win and off that, he is one of the hardest to beat.
16 Vee Rod (Bet Now: $SP.00) has a poor winning strike rate but he is an honest animal for Richards/Moyle who should be around the mark. He attempted to lead throughout here on Cup Day and he gave a solid kick but couldn’t quite see it through when second to Hobo Bob. That is the first time in ages that they have ridden him with intent and it half worked so he commands respect if similar tactics are adopted.
Race 7. (16:32) Gytrash Series Final 1200m
2 Queman (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the winner if he can stretch his brilliance out to 1200m. 2/2 this time in for Team Oxlade, the latest being two weeks ago on the Parks track over 1000m when producing sustained speed and he was much the best in a sharp display. He’s running times that would suggest he is a Stakes class horse. But over 1000m…just needs to do it at 1200m and they are cooking with gas for next year and potentially a Goodwood berth.
3 My Khalifa (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a leading contender. Richards/Moyle trained gelding that resumed three weeks ago over 1200m here and he was very good from off the speed, closing off strongly and just missing out on the win when a narrow second to Ocean Reward. Staying at 1200m is the query but with good speed in front, he’ll get every chance to launch at them late.
11 Magic Max (Bet Now: $SP.00) will love the rise to 1200m for Richards/Moyle. He has raced over 1000m in both runs back from a spell, the latest being behind Queman two weeks back where he was run off his legs but picked up late and was solid in the run to the line behind the Oxlade sprinter. Bigger track, more suitable trip, dangerous if he’s within range on the turn.
Race 8. (17:12) Viddora Series Final (Bm68) 1200m
8 Second To Nun (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a talented mare for Clarken/O’Shea that commands respect. I was keen on her when racing here last Saturday and I just think she lacked the hard fitness/polish to run down Starlite Valley, running a closing second. Better for that run under the belt, good speed in front, she’ll get her chance to launch over the top.
7 Exalted Dame (Bet Now: $SP.00) is racing in a purple patch for Jon O’Connor and commands respect. Let down with purpose to win on Gawler Cup Day before racing here on Cup Day when near the speed and doing work from a sticky gate but stuck on and was solid in defeat behind Lady Simone. If she holds her form, she’ll be around the mark I am sure.
6 Lady Simone (Bet Now: $SP.00) is hit and miss but her best is more than good enough to be dangerous. She won well here on Cup Day before racing last Saturday where she was off the speed and didn’t really fire in a plain effort behind all the way winner Starlite Valley. Back up to 1200m I do like and off the win on Cup Day, that is good enough to be more than competitive here.
Race 9. (18:00) Tab Riziz Series Final (Bm68) 1100m
2 Press Down (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks the one to beat, quite clearly. Peter Hardacre trained gelding that has finished runner up in both runs this time in, the latest coming two weeks ago over 1000m here when back off the speed and closed strongly but couldn’t quite get there when a narrow second to Left Turn Clyde. Third up so he should be hard fit and I think with a more positive ride, he’ll be winning this.
4 Bristler (Bet Now: $SP.00) is capable with his best for Richards/Moyle. He was backed with confidence a fortnight back and seemingly had his chance but on the line was safely held by surprise winner Left Turn Clyde, beaten 1.4L. He has the engine under the hood to blow these away but he has been hit and miss this time in. Market will be the guide.
5 Grand Host (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one i can entertain for wider multiples. He comes through the Left Turn Clyde race from two weeks back on the Parks track where he was back off the speed and found the line well enough without threatening, beaten just over three lengths. He’s racing so well this time in but I doubt he wins. That said, he can run top four.
