Nine races will be run and won at Belmont this Saturday where it is Black Heart Bart Stakes Day. The weather is fine, the track is soft (5) and the rail is out nine metres for the entire circuit.

4 Defending (Bet Now: $2.80) looks one of the hardest to beat. On the quick back up after winning last Thursday over 1300m at Northam, sitting back in the run before being presented by Parnham and he produced a lovely finale to win nicely. His late splits were strong so if he’s within range, he’ll be hard to hold out.

6 She’s Puzzling (Bet Now: $6.50) is a promising mare for Kristina Clarke that resumes. She ended her first prep on a high with a couple of sharp wins, winning the maiden at Pinjarra before proving that was no fluke with a good win over 1300m here. Sharp Lark Hill trial win to get ready. Key threat with luck from the draw.

1 Famous Jurney (Bet Now: $7.00) rises back up to metro grade for Jim Taylor. Just over two weeks between runs since a strong on speed win at Northam over 1100m where he was there to be beaten but he toughed it out quite well and was impressive late. Gets in okay after the claim and has the right racing pattern.

5 Lord Gannicus (Bet Now: $8.50) is a three year old I have plenty of time and he’s clearly one of the hardest to beat here. Resumed last Wednesday over 1200m here and was very good from off the speed when a closing second to Galaxy Affair, clocking good late splits. Fitter and up to 1400m, just needs luck from the gate and I think he will be winning.

7 Fly Away Home (Bet Now: $12.00) is suited back to 1400m IMO. Just found the mile a bridge too far last time at Northam when leading, just feeling the pinch late when second. I reckon back in trip and with a bunny to chase, you’ll see a much better performance, and gets an in form Chris Parnham.

9 Legacy Of Tara (Bet Now: $4.80) faces a tough test here but all you can do is win and that is what she’s done in two career outings, winning on debut at Pinjarra before proving that was no fluke with a strong win at Northam. Up against some likely types, but beware the unbeaten horse.

1 Swear To God (Bet Now: $2.70) looks a pretty sharp colt for Russell Stewart and confident he can resume with a win. He had a career opening prep in the autumn and was impressive each time he stepped out, winning at Ascot over 1000m before being spelled. Looked great in a recent trial win here and he does look a short course horse so 1000m fresh is ideal.

3 El Patron (Bet Now: $10.00) commands respect. Simon Miller trained gelding that hasn’t raced since July 30 here when a game second, beaten narrowly after being near the speed. Has residual fitness and is in the right camp to be dangerous so watch the market.

6 Symphony In Red (Bet Now: $26.00) is an improver. She resumed two weeks back here behind Just Go and the run was just fair I thought. She had a suck run in behind and just ground to the line without threatening. I think on a firmer deck, she can run a much improved race at odds.

1 Ghost Who Walks (Bet Now: $4.20) just has to hold his form and I think he will win. He was excellent in defeat last Saturday at this track/distance, working home with real purpose when a close up third to State Of Power in a race where the time was the second fastest for the track/distance this season. Surely he’s the one to beat.

7 Street Parade (Bet Now: $2.60) is a quality three year old for Russell Stewart that resumes. He hasn’t raced since the Karrakatta where he was at the end of his prep, 1200m was a bridge too far and he bumped into the best 2YO last season IMO in Amelia’s Jewel. Trial was good and I do think he’s best suited at the short course so 1000m here I like.

3 Al Quepone (Bet Now: $41.00) is a son of Al Maher for David Harrison that resumes. His last run came at Ascot back in April when wide no cover for the trip and tiring late behind Our Boy Dylan. He resumes without a public trial, so whether this is the trial for the new Ascot season, not sure, but his best is good enough to fill a first four spot.

3 He’s A Lucky Lad (Bet Now: $3.10) is putting together a good little record and he clearly saves his best for Belmont. Strong winner over 1700m here at the midweeks, sitting back in the run and launching late to win nicely. He was only second up so he has room for improvement and up to 2000m, he is the one for me.

2 Crescent City (Bet Now: $3.80) has been close up right throughout this campaign and is deserving of a win. He’s three weeks between runs since racing over 2100m here where he got a fair way out of his ground and was never a threat but did make up good headway behind General Grant. The depth here isn’t overly strong so I think with a more positive steer, he’ll take beating.

9 My Fair Balentine (Bet Now: $34.00) has a good third up record so I am not penning her. Needed the run fresh behind Benji’s then wasn’t too bad last time out behind He’s A Lucky Lad, making up some ground without looking likely. Has the upside to be a sneaky chance at odds.

10 All The King’s Men (Bet Now: $3.80) looks extremely hard to beat fresh. Trevor Andrews trained three year old that resumes after a strong 2YO prep. Dominant win two back before running a game second in the WA Sires Produce. Better suited over slightly further but the recent trial effort suggests he’s forward enough to beat the older horses fresh.

8 Enticing (Bet Now: $8.50) is in ripping form this time in. Jim Taylor trained mare that won at this track/distance a fortnight, sitting off the speed before barging into clear air and in a driving go was able to get the win, just. Only has to hold her form I’d suggest to be around the mark.

12 Oceanic Raider (Bet Now: $9.00) can certainly measure up these. Had a soft run on speed last time out and with a slight weight pull on key rivals, he was able to fight on strongly and get the win. He’ll get a similar run this time around and also gets the weight pull again. Hard to beat.

5 It’sarayday (Bet Now: $4.00) is unbeaten fresh and I think he’s here to claim some blacktype. Resumes for Simon Miller and he does have Stakes class ability but at times, he can be hit or miss. Looked to move very well in a Belmont trial behind Cup Night, and if he does everything right, I think he wins.

3 Resortman (Bet Now: $3.10) has been really well placed Michael Lane this time in and is looking to make it three Stakes wins on the bounce. Stretched out to 1400m two weeks ago when letting down powerfully in the Farnley Stakes. Back to 1200m and on a firmer deck, he commands respect.

2 Cup Night (Bet Now: $6.00) is such a fascinating runner. Bernie Miller trained gelding that resumes and he’s a horse that I thought could be a Railway horse once upon a time but he hasn’t gone on with it. That said, he’s had a good break in readiness for his return and the trial wins have been sharp.

9 Western Knight (Bet Now: $2.20) is absolutely flying for Adam Durrant, bursting to win another race, and I think he gets a great opportunity here. He has been desperately unlucky pretty much every run this time in, the latest over 1400m here two weeks ago when a closing second after getting held up. Hard fit at the mile, clear air, good luck beating him.

5 Indominus (Bet Now: $11.00) is knocking on the door for Colin Webster. He was a game second fresh over 1400m before jumping to 1700m where he was met with good support and was hailed as the winner but was nabbed late. Has that 1700m run under the belt, which should hold him in good stead for this.

3 Lonehand Larry (Bet Now: $17.00) will welcome a drop in overall depth. He has contested solid benchmark races in both runs this time in, the latest being last Saturday behind Position Of Power. Third up with upside to come, I think he’s a knockout chance at a price.

9 Advanced (Bet Now: $3.40) on top. Michael Grantham trained gelding that was a touch disappointing fresh over 1400m here before racing at the same track/distance two weeks ago and was a dominant winner, confirming the thought that he was a Saturday class horse. The rise to the mile is perfect. Hard to beat with luck from the gate.

1 Buster Bash (Bet Now: $4.80) has come back in super order for David Harrison. He has won two on the bounce, both at this track/distance He led throughout and spanked them a fortnight back, with Harvey getting control on speed and giving nothing else a look in. The claim for Louis helps and is just so genuine.

6 Ration Aly (Bet Now: $17.00) is an improver up in trip. This mare is on the seven day back up after racing over 1400m here last Saturday where she was quite keen in the run and failed to fire late behind Let’s Galahvant. Like her up to the mile and Paul Harvey steers. Expecting improvement.
