Race 1. (09:57) Quayclean Handicap 1050m
5 Expensive Taste (Bet Now: $SP.00) was down to debut in the Blue Diamond Preview but instead tackles this softer option. She looks to have jumped out very well at Flemington for start one and the stable have shown that when they come here for a hit and run, it works.
4 Ole Go (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a son of Ole Kirk for Michael Hickmott that comes here off the back of a trial win on Monday at Murray Bridge, winning comfortably and running solid time. Bred to be handy, watch the market and see what it does.
2 Big Wigs (Bet Now: $SP.00) is third pick. He trialled last Thursday at Sandown when second to stablemate Stretan Ruler, settling near the speed and battled away nicely. I think he needs to improve to beat the first two, but no reason why he can’t.
Race 2. (10:27) Thomas Farms (Bm66) 1050m
Justin Pickering and connections…they aren’t great re rider choice at times, but I do think it is an upgrade with Alysha Warren replacing Maggie Collett aboard 4 Daisydoo (Bet Now: $SP.00). Collett has ridden this horse all prep, including last Saturday, and last weekend aside, she has slaughtered the horse. 1200m back to 1050m, she’ll sit off speed but I think she’ll finish over the top and am quite keen on her prospects.
3 Mic Drop (Bet Now: $SP.00) is four weeks between runs since a track/distance win. She sat off speed and was trucking before angling for clear air and knuckled down with purpose late to win and win well. Tick over trial last week was sharp, she’s in form, rates highly.
5 Blanc Visage (Bet Now: $SP.00) resumed with a bang three weeks ago at Gawler, giving them a start and a beating in an impressive display, rounding them up from the back albeit a field of seven. Previous second up winner and off the return, commands serious respect.
Race 3. (10:57) Adelaide Galvanising Industries (64) 1600m
8 Rubini (Bet Now: $SP.00) is bursting to win I feel. He ran over 1400m at Murray Bridge two weeks ago where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never a threat behind Florey, he did make up headway and was pretty good in defeat. Like him up in trip, can settle closer and be effective late.
6 Mrs Penny Cracker (Bet Now: $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since an arrognat win at Gawler where she gave them a start and a beating, gradually creeping into the race and got better as the race went on. Hard to beat against these.
7 Chance Taken (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate getting to the mile after resuming over 1400m two weeks back at Murray Bridge. He just found them a bit sharp and was never really a factor, finishing down the track behind Florey. Fitter and up in trip, he’s a definite improver.
Race 4. (11:27) Festival Hire (Bm78) 1600m
7 Teardrop Rotation (Bet Now: $SP.00) just has to hold her form and she wins. She ran two weeks ago at Flemington when off speed and keen before angling clear and worked to the line strongly in defeat when third to Welcometotheshow. Just has to hold her form and she’s the winner.
6 I Catchem Fox… (Bet Now: $SP.00) just not sure what that ride was at Murray Bridge a fortnight back. Very quiet, not much initiative and just took forever to get going, eventually winding up but by the time that happened, it was race over. More positive ride and he can bounce back.
8 Surprise Coming (Bet Now: $SP.00) ran fourth to Bamyan Buddha two weeks back at Murray Bridge. Not sure the race shape was to his liking but even allowing for that, I did expect more from him and he seemed a bit on the plain side. More genuine tempo here, he can improve out of sight.
Race 5. (11:57) Fotobase Group Maiden Plate 1200m
1 Discreetly Blue… (Bet Now: $SP.00) gee he has had numerous chances to break the maiden but I do think he’s going to take beating here. He resumed at Gawler three weeks ago over 1200m. Just pulled hard off speed and it left him without much left for the finale behind Act Natural. Fitter…surely his time is coming?
2 Elite Thunder (Bet Now: $SP.00) is in the mix for Team Jolly, having not raced since July 30 over 1400m at Balaklava whem placing, seemingly having his chance but he battled on really well. Looks to have trialled well, will press forward and should be around the mark.
4 Uptown Monk (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Will Clarken trained three year old that is on debut. He has looked strong in trial work to get ready for start one, the latest trial seeing him win and he moved well. Maps to stalk the speed and be effective late.
Race 6. (12:27) Winning Edge Presentations (Bm68) 1800m
3 Mellifluent (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be top seed here after a good effort over the mile at Murray Bridge two weeks ago when near the speed and tried his guts out but had to settle for a narrow second to Bamyan Buddha. That form surely has to read well for this.
6 Coorong Tycoon (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes back to 1800m after racing over 2000m at Murray Bridge two weeks ago. He just took forever to wind up but was good late when second to Full Of Courage. He’ll be strong late. Just depends what start he concedes.
2 Conni Island (Bet Now: $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since an on speed win at Gawler over 1500m. He got into a lovely spot and looked the winner a fair way out before being clicked up and away he went to win and win well. His confidence is up and should take beating against these.
Race 7. (13:02) Durbridge Stakes 1100m
1 Klabel (Bet Now: $SP.00) is four weeks between runs since taking out the Christmas Handicap over 1200m here, giving them a start and a beating in an impressive effort. 1100m, fresh legs, WFA…gee he looks well placed against these IMO.
5 Sir Now (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a barrier rogue but he behaved much better and ran two weeks ago at Murray Bridge when off speed before being presented wider and tried his guts out but just found one better in Enuff Seduction. His best is good enough to be dangerous and trialled super on Monday.
6 Great Maximus (Bet Now: $SP.00) is in the mix for Team Jolly. He resumed two weeks back at Murray Bridge when on speed and tried hard but just felt the pinch late behind Enuff Seduction. Doubt he wins but can run first four at odds.
Race 8. (13:37) Dominant (Bm66) 1050m
2 Yasuke (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a son of Maurice that resumes for Will Clarken. He is first up, having not raced since July 12 at Murray Bridge when back and closing off well when close up in defeat behind Fast Bubbles. He is a horse who can sprint well fresh and has trialled well. Watch betting.
4 Bristler (Bet Now: $SP.00) was a total forgive from a fortnight back at Murray Bridge, doing far too much work to land on speed and that burn just told late in the piece behind Declared. Think if he can land on speed without spending too many petrol tickets, he’s dangerous.
10 Wally West (Bet Now: $SP.00) ran down the track behind Declared at Murray Bridge two weeks ago. He got back off the pace and did make up some headway but was never really threatening. If he can settle closer, be within range, he’s dangerous.
Race 9. (14:12) Sportsbet Fast Form Hcp (C2) 1500m
2 All Too Mysti (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes back to town as a winner, that win coming at the midweeks at Strathalbyn when giving them a start and a beating in an impressive performance. She has run well at this level prior and overall, I don’t think this is a deep contest.
5 Testing One Two (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday at Murray Bridge. He got back to near last in the run and was good late when clear when second to Sir Leapalot. He’s found positive form, he can go on with it.
3 Royal Scripture (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes back to 1500m after racing over the mile at Murray Bridge a fortnight back. He sat on speed throughout and did try hard but just felt the pinch late in the piece behind Flaming Eyes. I think with a more patient steer, he’ll be more effective.
Race 10. (14:47) Sportsbet Same Race Multi (Bm70) 1200m
7 Thunder Shoc (Bet Now: $SP.00) is four weeks between runs since a track/distance win. She got into a dream spot just off speed before angling clear and knuckled down with purpose late to win and win well. Tick over jumpout last week at Strathalbyn was strong, she has versatility re racing style and finds a winnable race.
11 Stokomo (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be better for the first up run at Gawler over 1100m. He just found them a bit sharp early but he kept chasing and was quite good in defeat when second to Blanc Visage. Fitter and up in trip, he only runs well.
8 Star Sirius (Bet Now: $SP.00) was well and truly thrown in the deep end when resuming in the Black Pearl at Geelong three weeks back. She got back in the run and in a race dominated on speed/fence, she was never a factor. Much better suited at this level, she can threaten for sure.
