Race 1. (13:39) Free Entry To Belmont Park Hcp 1400m
1 Saloon Bar (Bet Now: $SP.00) for me. Dan Morton trained three year old that resumed over 1200m here two weeks ago and was good from off the speed, just missing out on the win when a narrow second to the in form Universal Flair. Like him up to 1400m and the market did say that he would need the run fresh so the fact he ran so well tells me he’s in for a good prep.
2 Sisu Warrior (Bet Now: $SP.00) has come back a much better horse for Team Williams this prep. He is four weeks between runs since racing over this track/distance when taking on the older horses. He was on speed throughout and was as game as ever. Just didn’t have the finale on the bog to win, running a narrow second to Pray Again. Firmer footing, ideal map, he appeals.
3 Kelvinator (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes here four weeks between runs since racing over 1400m here when getting a suck run behind the speed and was there to threaten at the top of the straight but couldn’t quite finish it off behind Planet Cash. Back to 1200m, fresh legs, his best is good enough to be a knockout chance.
Race 2. (14:14) Book Your Xmas In July (Bm69+) 1000m
2 State Of Power (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a 1000m specialist and back on firmer footing, she does have to be respected. She hasn’t raced since June 10 when racing at this track/distance on a bog and struggled to pick her feet up late in the piece behind Ghost Who Walks. Six weeks between runs so she has fresh legs, firmer footing and lands near the front, she’ll look the winner at some stage.
1 Puli (Bet Now: $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Meryl Hayley since racing at this track/distance where he attempted to lead throughout and credit to him, he gave a very strong kick but couldn’t quite finish it off when third to Gemma’s Son, beaten a half length. Good racing style and although he will cop heat near the front, he’s got the right form to give this a shake.
7 Olga Luisa (Bet Now: $SP.00) will look the winner for a long winner given she jumps and runs. She did that two weeks back at this track/distance and despite being out of tickets late, she had enough in hand to fend them off and win. Harder here, but she is a 1000m horse and 1000m horse in a 1000m race = good recipe. Knockout chance and a must for multiples.
Race 3. (14:53) Glenroy Chaff Plate 1300m
8 Chollima… (Bet Now: $SP.00) she could be a beauty. Market kept her quite safe in betting when debuting here last Wednesday over 1400m and you had to be impressed with the way she knuckled down to win. She gave them a start and a beating, finishing off the race and was strong to/through the line in winning. Back in trip, I think, will be fine, and she could be one out of the box.
1 Odinaka (Bet Now: $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness for Steve Wolfe. He ran two weeks ago over 1200m here where he was a bit one paced when the sprint went on but picked up and found the line quite well late in the piece when third to A Lot Of Good Men. He’ll love getting to 1300m and I think with a more positive ride, he’ll take beating.
2 Ancient Guidance (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the one with hard race fitness/experience, which should hold him in good stead. He ran last Wednesday over 1400m here when near the speed throughout and fought hard to try and fend them off, but couldn’t withstand the finale of Chollima. Back in trip no issue and with the hard fitness, he appeals as a winning chance.
Race 4. (15:33) Morley Growers Market (Rs1mw) 1400m
The Belmont Winter season usually sees a Bob Peters horse come out and be a force during the Ascot Summer. I think 3 First Encounter (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the horse. He resumes after a three run prep during the Autumn to start his career, winning his past two, the latest being over the mile here where he was very raw and new but brilliant. IMO, he could progress to Stakes grade…maybe even a Railway. He’s that good, potentially. Keen on him to resume a winner.
2 Cold Shizzle (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes here as a last start winner so he commands some level of respect. That win came at this track/distance last Saturday when coming with a well timed finale under CJP to wear them down for a strong win. That was his first start since May 27 so he has good room for improvement…not sure he beats the favourite, but runs well regardless.
Fitter and up to 1400m are two big ticks for 4 Gage Roads (Bet Now: $SP.00). Team Williams trained three year old that resumed over 1200m here two weeks back where he got a fair way out of his ground, was keen in the run and just didn’t fire at all behind Universal Flair in a plain return. Like him up in trip and if the gate is used to advantage, his best is good enough to be around the mark.
Race 5. (16:09) Tabtouch - Westspeed (Rs0ly) 1200m
1 On The Full (Bet Now: $SP.00) hasn’t quite measured up in town previously at Saturday level but now seems the right time to have a crack given how well he has come back. 2/2 this time in, both wins coming at 1000m, first up being here before going to Northam where he was on speed throughout and credit to him, the race was there to be won and he dug in with purpose to get there. Hard to knock the way he’s racing.
3 Vogue’s Choice (Bet Now: $SP.00) has found winning form and she can certainly go on with it. Ran in a similar race to this a fortnight back over 1000m here when ridden on speed and credit to her, she was there to be beaten but she found under pressure to fend them off and win. 1200m should be fine for her, especially if they ride her with a sit, and off a win, she appeals.
5 Forest War (Bet Now: $SP.00) hasn’t won in a little while but is a consistent animal for Jim Taylor that is generally around the mark. He ran at the midweeks here last time at this track/distance when backed with confidence, but after getting a suck run behind the speed, he couldn’t quite get there when third to Hint Of Mint. Not sure I could back him to win but one to be included in wider exotics.
Race 6. (16:44) Mogumber Open Day 30/7 (Bm65+) 2200m
2 Queen Alina… (Bet Now: $SP.00) surely her time to win is here. She should have won two weeks ago but unfortunately she was caught wide no cover for the trip and was only nabbed right on the peg by Ex Sport Man. She won’t get caught wide from the gate this time around and if that last run hasn’t busted her…I think it’s a case of good luck beating her.
5 Ex Sport Man (Bet Now: $SP.00) is unknown at 2200m but did win over 2100m last time, beating Queen Alina. Swap the runs, clearly swap the result, but credit to the horse, the race was there to be won and he dug in big time when required, lifting late to nab the mare on the line. Not sure he maintains a margin over the mare, but runs well regardless.
1 Baramagic (Bet Now: $SP.00) is capable with his best. I think forgive and forget the run two weeks back behind Ex Sport Man given he was very keen in the run and was a beaten horse a long way out, finishing down the track. He led and had control when winning the start prior so if he brings better racing manners, he is in with a shout.
Race 7. (17:20) Quayclean (Bm66+) 1200m
12 Duchess Of Gossip (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a beauty for Dion Luciani and has to rate as one of the leading contenders. Impressive win over 1200m here a fortnight back. To the eye, dominant, but potentially was a touch flattered by the ride, with Pike controlling the tempo outside the speed and her change up gears came to the fore late. Is a track/distance winner and hard to knock the way she’s racing.
1 Hint Of Mint (Bet Now: $SP.00) is flying for Neville Parnham and happy to include her. She has won her past two, both at this track/distance. Both wins have come at the midweeks but each time she has been strong and impressive to the line in winning. She is a mare in form and albeit she steps up to Saturday grade, this isn’t an overly strong Saturday metro race. She commands respect.
13 Enticing (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks to have returned in pretty good order for Jim Taylor. She resumed two weeks back at this track/distance when back in a slowly run race and albeit was never really a threat, I liked the way she found the line late behind Duchess Of Gossip. Loves racing at Belmont and with a more positive steer, she can take this out.
Race 8. (18:00) H.G. Bolton Sprint 1200m
1200m is a query with 4 Ghost Who Walks (Bet Now: $SP.00) but gee it’s hard to knock how well he is racing at the moment and with a kind map again, I think he has to be the each way bet. He was a strong winner of the Beaufine two weeks ago, sitting back and coming with a well timed run to nab Real Danger near the line in a strong effort. He has run well and won at 1200m previously, and the way he attacked the line in the Beaufine, it should be fine here.
12 Real Danger (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the key threat. She was five weeks between runs when contesting the Beaufine a fortnight back. Pike rode her with intent on speed and for the most part, she was hailed as the winner, but couldn’t withstand the finale of Ghost Who Walks. She is the one with good upside, gets to 1200m and Pike sticks so she has a bit in her corner.
8 Coming Around (Bet Now: $SP.00) is third up from a spell for Raquel Williams and should just about be at peak fitness. She has been kept on ice, having not raced since June 17 when closing off nicely from near last behind Bitofmerit. The break between runs and staying at 1200m…I think it could be next time at 1400m, but he has got the quality to figure and finish top four.
Race 9. (18:40) Graham Morgan 70Th B'day-Rs1mw 1600m
5 Sesswa (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks the straight bat option. Dan Morton trained filly that is three weeks between runs since contesting the Belmont Oaks where she was very good in defeat from off a slow speed, finding the line well when second to a potential star, Ihts Closing Inn. Back to the mile I find interesting but she has the right form around her and a kind map to prove hard to beat.
3 San Fabrizio (Bet Now: $SP.00) has done a super job in two runs for Stephen Miller after formerly being with Chris Waller. He resumed with a strong win over this track/distance before going to the mile three weeks ago where he was near the speed throughout and tried hard but just found the mile a bridge too far when third to Rare Encounter. Peak fitness, he commands respect.
2 Rare Encounter (Bet Now: $SP.00) deserves another look. Lovely ride from Pike saw her win two back before backing up a week later and was solid without being great when fourth to Allez Allez, perhaps not handling the seven day back up. Pike is back on and off the win two back, that is certainly good enough to say she’s a leading chance against these.
