22/5/2021 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Murray Bridge

Grant Young isn’t afraid to back a horse up on a Saturday from racing during the week. At the time of writing, 3 Exalted Beast (Bet Now: $2.30) hadn’t raced at Bordertown on Wednesday, but off form, I think he’s quite progressive. Spanked them over 2000m here, winning by over six. Opperman rode that occasion and he sticks here.

4 Lostarc (Bet Now: $14.00) is on the seven day back up for Ryan Balfour. He ran last Saturday at Morphettville when near the speed throughout. He tried hard but just didn’t have the speed in the legs to go with them late and tired. 2400m+ is his sweet spot, so the rise in trip I like and this is a winnable race.

5 Turf Man (Bet Now: $9.50) is three weeks between runs for John Hickmott since contesting the Port Adelaide Cup. He was outclassed and didn’t get involved from the back so forget he went around behind Wyclif. This looks more his level and he is a two time winner at the track, so an improved showing is on the cards.

I like 4 Castle Of Kings (Bet Now: $3.70) here. Former Kiwi that makes his Australian debut for Will Clarken. Debuted back in March at Pukekohe when a game second to Malt Time in a race that rated well for that meeting. Jumped out very nicely here in readiness for his Aussie debut so happy to be in his corner.

6 Livin Loose (Bet Now: $17.00) is the obvious query. Michael Hickmott trained son of Savabeel that debuts and we know how well the stable has gone in the season to date. This three year old has trialled up really well in readiness for start one, winning both trials in the Spring before a nice trial in early April and a jumpout here. As is the case with this stable, a huge market watch.

13 Perfect Zed (Bet Now: $6.50) should appreciate the firmer footing. Has found heavy tracks her past couple and hasn’t been too bad I thought, but nowhere near as effective compared to when she was on top of the ground three back when placing on the Parks track. Think she can run a much improved race.

5 Star Of Uma (Bet Now: $2.00) looks the best on the program to my eye. Team McEvoy trained filly that resumed on the Parks track two weeks ago. Sat outside Great Leveller and that pair controlled things to suit themself. Just the race fitness of Great Leveller was the difference between winning and losing. Market suggested Star Of Uma needed the run. Now she has the run, up to 1200m, I’m keen on her big time.

1 Outlaws Revenge (Bet Now: $6.00) is better suited at this level. They tried to get him to Stakes level, but the runs in the Redelva and Tobin Bronze was enough to suggest he isn’t up to that level. 2/2 at the track and back to benchmark company, he’s hard to beat. Just a matter of what upside is left.

6 Sparkup (Bet Now: $8.00) should be better placed back to 1200m. He is several weeks between runs since contesting the Nitschke on the Parks track. He got back to near last in the run and didn’t come, potentially outclassed as well behind Incredulous Dream. Back to 1200m and back in grade, he can run a positive race.

It’ll be interesting to see if the market misses 10 Two Odd Sox (Bet Now: $11.00) . He ran in the SA Sprint Final two weeks ago…well I say ran, but it was more he trialled. He had absolutely zero luck in the straight and was untested. He saves his best for Murray Bridge, he drops to 60 from 82 grade…gee I think he’ll run a big race.

7 Wounded Soldier (Bet Now: $9.00) should prove hard to beat for Karen Byrnes. Resumed four weeks ago on the Parks track. Could make a case to say he should have won. Just didn’t get the best of paths in the straight when having something to offer and should have finished much closer and perhaps win the race when second to Over There. Off that effort, he’s hard to beat here.

2 Hi Smokey (Bet Now: $9.50) is a bulldog. He doesn’t have the best turn of foot, but he puts himself on speed and tries his heart out. That was the case when winning last time out at Balaklava. He led, copped pressure, and was there to be run down, but found plenty under pressure, fended them off and was too good. Harder here, but he’ll run an honest race.

The Jaensch camp have 7 Bullet Kid (Bet Now: $7.50) in career best form and I think he can measure up to Saturday grade. He has won three on the bounce, the latest coming at this track/distance where Pannell gave him a sweet steer back in the run before peeling into clear air and he produced good change up speed to win impressively. Harder here, but have to like the way he goes about it.

6 Ranger Frank (Bet Now: $8.00) looks a key threat. He resumed over 1050m at Balaklava. Got a fair way back in the run but finished off his race with real purpose late in the piece when third to Magic Phantom. His two second up runs have been quite good and with the resumption being so encouraging, he’ll take beating here.

1 Brobak (Bet Now: $16.00) is one to include in wider exotics. Despite being topweight, not sure he has the class to win, but given how well he is racing at the moment, he is a first four threat. Ran at Naracoorte last time out. Had a suck run behind the speed before angling clear in the straight and tried hard. Just couldn’t quite get there. Gets a significant jockey upgrade and drawn out, so will get clear air from the outset.

I think 11 Winning Weather (Bet Now: $4.40) can resume a winner for the Macdonald/Gluyas camp. She has won at 1250m, but that came on a biased Parks track. I feel 1000m is her pet trip so like that she resumes there. She has Star Of Uma/All Banter form, which does read well, and her jumpout last Tuesday was a nice piece of work.

10 Great Diviner (Bet Now: $5.00) is a talented animal for Will Clarken that is first up. Had a two run prep in the early part of the Autumn to start his career. Debuted with a remarkable win on the Parks track. Then went to Murray Bridge and was outclassed behind Outlaws Revenge. Couple of jumpouts have been strong, so watch the market.

4 Extra Mile (Bet Now: $6.50) is two weeks between runs for the Jolly camp since racing in the Sprint Series Final. He got a fair way back in the run but loved the way he closed off late, just missing out on the win when a narrow second to Trygve. Fast run 1000m on this big track I do like for him so he’s hard to beat.

5 Star Status (Bet Now: $9.00) looks to be in for a really good prep. Resumed three weeks ago at Morphettville over 1200m, a trip a clearly short of his best. Got back to near last in the run and worked home really well late behind Lady Dunmore. Fitter and up to 1600m…might need one more, but has a good second up record.

8 Allaciato (Bet Now: $11.00) is a Michael Hickmott trained mare that resumes. Former Kiwi that had two runs for the stable last prep, winning on both occasions in good style over the mile, with first up being here. Recent jumpout here was just fair, but stable generally fire when racing on the home track.

4 Azzureous (Bet Now: $67.00) is better suited over further but I like him resuming at the mile for the Blanch camp. Produced a big finale to win over 2500m here two back before a down the track effort at Morphettville and was spelled. If they overdo it in front, look for him to be charging late.

5 Street Life (Bet Now: $5.00) has the A1 form to take this out. Impressive first up winner at Oakbank before having little luck behind Kemalpasa. Then went to the McKay and was good late behind subsequent Goodwood winner Savatoxl. That form has to stand up in a now off season 82 handicap.

15 Toff Love (Bet Now: $2.70) should be suited up to 1200m. Ran two weeks ago in the SA Sprint Final and if you were on, apologies for bringing up the nightmare. He should have just about won, but just had no luck at all in the straight when wanting to build the revs. Better luck this time around and he can win.

8 Peloton (Bet Now: $10.00) is a Michael Hickmott trained gelding that resumes. This guy hasn’t raced since November 25 when winning impressively on the Parks track over 1550m when leading throughout and proving dominant on the line. Recent jumpout here was good and stable should always be respected on their home track.

16 Wish I Might (Bet Now: $13.00) looks to be flying for Daniel Bowman. Jury was out after a disappointing prep when last in work, but she overcome the bias to win fresh on Stawell Cup Day before racing during the Warrnambool Carnival when a strong third to a really progressive type in Corner Pocket. That has to read well for this.

9 Skilled Bunch (Bet Now: $6.50) is knocking on the door to win again. Looked like she would win when looming two weeks back on the Parks track. Looked the winner but was nabbed on the peg by Going Gaga, a horse that is flying. That was a Benchmark 82 race. Now back to 68 grade, she’s very likeable.

Back to 1400m is interesting with 15 Sadente (Bet Now: $7.00) but Andrew Clarken has her going really well. She ran in an 1800m Final race two weeks ago at Morphettville. Just got too far back in the run and was never really a winning threat, but did like the way she finished her race off. If she’s within range on the turn, she can win.

LONG SHOT: Race Seven Number 5 Star Status
