Race 1. (12:38) Dubious First Yearling In 2023 1110m
If a heavy track doesn’t worry her, 2 Miss Coota (Bet Now: $1.12) should make it 2/2. The debut win at Eagle Farm two weeks ago was electric, leading throughout, winning by just over seven lengths and she made an absolute mess of them. Lands in front…wet track is the only thing stopping her being a moral.
1 Mishani Cruise (Bet Now: $8.50) has the hard race experience under the belt. He ran two weeks back at Eagle Farm when on speed and battled away strongly late when second to Risky Investment. Les Ross and his juveniles generally swim, so wetter the better for him I think.
10 Keyboard (Bet Now: $16.00) can fill a slot. She ran second to Miss Coota two weeks back and yes, was beaten a long way, but she actually stuck to the task pretty well and did beat the rest. Maps to get a sweet run in transit and on breeding, I think wet ground will be okay for her.
Race 2. (13:13) Mount Franklin Hcp 1200m
6 Clairvue Molly (Bet Now: $3.40) is a filly with okay talent for Tony Gollan. Closing second to a good one, Plundering, two back at the Gold Coast before going to Eagle Farm where she was just off the speed and battled away okay when fourth to Ekaterina. Working up to a win. Wouldn’t be shocked if she won here.
5 Diamond City (Bet Now: $4.60) will put herself on speed and try hard. She did that two weeks ago at Eagle Farm and tried hard, but couldn’t quite finish it off behind Ekaterina. She is a filly who loves getting her feet wet, she has the right racing pattern and this race has thinned out after scratchings.
4 Athena Nyx (Bet Now: $6.50) is in with a shout. Defied a betting drift to win the maiden at Tamworth two back before going to Beaudesert where she had the A1 run behind the speed. Just a matter of Mallyon pushing the button and once he did, it was race over. Harder here, but think seh can measure up.
Race 3. (13:48) Gallopers Sports Club Hcp 1200m
I love 2 Northern Express (Bet Now: $3.50) up to 1200m. He resumed three weeks ago at Eagle Farm where he was tardy to begin, sat near last in the run, and did make up ground, but was never a threat to a sharp short course in this area, Flaming Conquest. Tick over trial was very good at Toowoomba and with a clean jump, he can settle much closer in the run and has a touch of class/quality.
7 Deer Trail (Bet Now: $4.80) can be a big improver. He ran two weeks back at Eagle Farm off the back of an electric debut win here, but he just went way too keen on speed and couldn’t finish it off at all behind Ekaterina. I reckon with a more patient steer, he’ll be more effective.
1200m is a slight query with 1 Jemeldi (Bet Now: $7.00) but I think he’s returned in good order. He resumed at Eagle Farm three weeks ago where he had the suck run behind the speed and loomed large to win but couldn’t quite get there when second to Flaming Conquest. With a soft trip, I think 1200m will be okay, and has class based on his 2YO form.
Race 4. (14:23) Derby R'day @ E'farm 29/10-C6 1200m
6 Extremist (Bet Now: $3.80) has returned in super order for Rob Heathcoate. Dominant win over this trip two weeks ago Eagle Farm where she controlled the race outside the speed before being clicked up by Angela Jones and was impressive late in winning, clocking some of the better late splits of the race. Great track/distance record…just doesn’t the track to cop too much rain.
7 Self Indulgent (Bet Now: $1.95) is flying for Tony Gollan and rates as one of the hardest to beat. Four weeks between runs since a spank job win at Toowoomba. She had the beaut sit behind the speed and it was just a matter of pushing the button. Maloney did that and away she went. Handles give in the track and loves Doomben.
11 My Oddette (Bet Now: $31.00) is the sneaky chance at odds if this track has genuine juice in it. She resumed behind Extremist two weeks back where she was too keen near the speed and dropped out to finish down the track. She’s a swimmer so wetter the better for her, and if gets to Heavy, she’s almost worth a small speck save.
Race 5. (14:58) Lyndon Keane Media (Rs0mw) 1050m
8 Fetch (Bet Now: $1.90) is knocking on the door to win. She was four weeks between runs when at Eagle Farm a few weeks ago where she had the suck run before slicing her way through the field and drove hard late when second to Gemelon Bolt. The way she is finding the line, 1050m on wet ground is okay and I think will be strong late.
9 Five Oxford (Bet Now: $17.00) is a Kevin Kemp trained gelding that resumes. He hasn’t raced since November last year at Eagle Farm when down the track behind Nicci’s Spirit, producing an end of prep run. Given a good break, but didn’t mind the recent trial, he can sprint well fresh and loves getting his toe in.
15 Bay Of Dragons (Bet Now: $26.00) will jump on the bunny and run a bold race. Resumed over 1100m at Beaudesert where sustained speed came to the fore and she got the win, just. Right down in the weights, I think she’ll find the lead, roll and give a sight. Last bit will be the test.
Race 6. (15:33) Road To M. Millions On Sale-C3 1350m
Back up to 1350m and back to Doomben I love for 4 Hatchet (Bet Now: $4.00). Rob Heathcoate trained gelding that was a solid fourth to Mob Buster two back before coming back to 1200m where he was off the speed and kept chasing in a good effort behind a handy horse, Extremist. Like him back up in trip and I think back to Doomben helps the cause.
11 A Call From Heaven (Bet Now: $6.50) has come back in really good order. That said, has been well placed by Tony Gollan but her confidence is up after a strong win at the midweeks at Ipswich last time. Loves getting her feet wet, she gets a suck run and will be strong late.
2 Brave Warrior (Bet Now: $18.00) is big odds here I feel. He resumed over 1200m at Ipswich and was a real eye catcher from the back when a close up third to Oriental Runner in a very encouraging. Fitter, up in trip, loves wet ground, good upside, claim…why is he close to $20?
Race 7. (16:18) Xxxx (Bm72) 2020m
15 Spurious (Bet Now: $14.00) doesn’t have the class of some of these, but he is a hard fit/in form galloper that only has 51kg on his back. Close up second over this trip at Kilcoy three back and in two runs since has come back in trip, winning at the Sunny Coast last time. He’ll roll forward and only run well IMO.
1 Tappy’s One (Bet Now: $5.00) is the swimmer in the field so if this track becomes testing, he’ll be one of the strongest late. He ran over 1800m last Saturday at Eagle Farm and battled on really well in defeat when a close up third to Blacklog. Drops a fair way in depth here, he gets in well after the claim and swims.
10 Populist (Bet Now: $14.00) is on the seven day back up after racing at Eagle Farm last Saturday where he got back off the speed and kept finding the line in a pretty good effort behind Red Wave, finishing fourth, beaten just over two lengths. The depth here is nowhere near as strong and won’t mind give in the track.
Race 8. (16:55) Nova 106.9 Plate (C6) 1200m
1200m is the limit for 4 Proper Rogue (Bet Now: $1.75) IMO but he’s a sharp horse with change up speed, and loves getting his feet wet, so a drop of rain is perfect. He has been kept on ice since September 21 when an impressive winner over 1050m here at the midweeks, producing excellent change up speed, on dry ground. 1200m is the query, but wet ground is perfect and has a turn of foot, a good one.
7 Guntantes (Bet Now: $18.00) is a hard horse to catch but I thought the return was encouraging. That came at Eagle Farm two weeks ago where he got back to near last in the run and worekd to the line pretty well late in the piece without threatening behind Le Palmier. Fitter and up to 1200m, he appeals.
6 Grey Defence (Bet Now: $5.50) is hit and miss at times but he is a horse who loves wet ground. Somewhat outclassed at Eagle Farm three weeks back when leading and tiring late behind Sweet Margot May. Gets a jockey upgrade IMO and with luck from the wide gate, I think he can run a positive race.
Race 9. (17:43) This Is Croser Hcp 1615m
12 Ulysses (Bet Now: $4.80) is a query at a strong mile, but I think he has returned in pretty good order. Game fourth to Grey Defence fresh before going to Toowoomba where he had a suck run behind the speed and battled on okay in defeat behind Rubamos. Should just about be hard fit and has a touch of quality when right.
4 Stardome (Bet Now: $5.00) should love the rise to 1600m. Surprised most with a first up win at the Gold Coast before going to Eagle Farm two weeks ago where he stayed at the 1400m distance range and didn’t fire behind Turn On The Charm. The rise to the mile is ideal and has more upside than most you would think.
5 Hail Manhattan (Bet Now: $5.50) has come back in good order and I think the rise to the mile is ideal. He ran over 1400m two weeks ago at Eagle Farm where he was near the speed throughout and kept trying, just couldn’t quite get there when a close up third to Turn On The Charm, who had the suck run and finished best. Hard fit now and up to a more ideal trip, he appeals.
Race 10. (18:20) Sky Racing (Bm78) 1615m
15 Drive A Deel (Bet Now: $2.35) is a progressive mare for Rob Heathcoate that is heading in the right direction. She is looking to make it three on the bounce, winning over 1350m here two back before going to Eagle Farm where she was just off the speed and was there to be beaten but found and was too good. That was her first run at the mile, so you’d like to think she’ll improve.
4 Smirk (Bet Now: $4.80) is dangerous. Market kept her safe when resuming at Eagle Farm two weeks ago but I thought she was very plain after seemingly getting every chance behind Zou De Moon. Drops back to 78 grade, loves wet ground, unbeaten second up and is the class of the field. Can easily bounce back.
18 Flensburg (Bet Now: $34.00) is one I could entertain at odds. Market said it would be a prep run when resuming at the midweeks over 1350m here and while he was never a threat, I really liked the way he finished his race off. Fitter and up to the mile, I think he can be quite dangerous at a price.
