Eight races will be run and won at Mornington on Wednesday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

8 Shanwah (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top in what looks a two horse race. Ciaron Maher trained three year old that resumed over 1400m at Warrnambool where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up ground and was pretty good in defeat. Fitter and up in trip, can settle closer and be effective late.

9 Belle Detelle (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a daughter of Zed for Chris Waller that debuted over 1300m at Seymour where she got a fair way out of her ground but really liked the way she finished her race off in defeat behind impressive winner Seindeel. Like her up to the mile and hopefully can settle a pair or two closer.

1 Gold Moon (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one for exotics. He debuted in a low 1600m maiden at Stony Creek where he got into a decent spot in transit and tried hard but couldn’t quite get there. Maps to do no work and has that 1600m run under the belt.

9 Summer Flame (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks ready to go and I think she can make a winning debut. Well bred filly for Chris Waller that is on debut off the back of impressive jumpout work, with three this time in, the latest two at Flemington where she has moved well. Good grounding, happy to be in her corner.

8 Sirena (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1200m after resuming over 1000m here two weeks ago. She lobbed into a decent spot just off the speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite reel in Tonkin. Better for the run and up in trip, she rates highly.

4 Fly (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of Merchant Navy that is on debut for the Moroney/Thompson camp. He has had two jumpouts this time in for start one and each time has moved well enough to my eye, suggesting he will run on debut. Just watch the market.

4 Written Bligh (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win for Grahame Begg and she strikes a winnable race here. Ran two weeks ago at this track/distance when wide no cover throughout and she tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through when second to Harry’s Secret. Maps much better and gets in well after the claim.

5 Second Fix (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of Hellbent for Team Freedman that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since a maiden win at Bendigo on Sep 25 when near the speed and found plenty under pressure to fend them off. Jumpout work has been strong, he’s a yard/market watch.

2 Orion The Hunter (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. He has been just fair in two runs back from a break, the latest run seeing him finish down the track at Warrnambool. He is a previous third up winner and his best is good enough.

Clearly the best each way gamble on the card for mine here in the shape of 2 East Indiaman (Bet Now:  $SP.00). He ran last Tuesday at Kilmore when heavily backed late but unfortunately the apprentice didn’t really know what she was doing on the gelding but the horse was very good late when eventually clear. Big jockey upgrade, love the booking of Frog. He’ll send this bloke forward and I think only runs well.

5 Pro Aussie 2 East Indiaman (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes to metro level off the back of a maiden win at Sale when favourite, but a drifting favourite. B Shinn took bad luck out of the equation from the outset and he was dominant in winning. The extra 100m is no issue and he has more upside than most.

9 Sweet Jasmine 2 East Indiaman (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate a rise in trip after resuming over 1400m at Warrnambool where she got off speed and kept chasing in a pretty good effort in defeat I thought behind Wichitall. Better for the run and her best is good enough.

7 Bing’s Dream (Bet Now:  $SP.00) each way for me here in what looks a winnable race. He ran over the mile at Pakenham last time when back in an on pace dominated affair and while he made up ground, he was never a winning threat behind Bob The Horse. 2000m should be fine and this isn’t a deep contest.

2 Cheval Savant (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has class on his side and it will carry him a long way towards victory. He ran over 2000m at Randwick last time where he got into a decent enough run in transit but couldn’t get involved and was a bit on the plain side. Off prior efforts, he can take this out.

10 Bishop Rock (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a first four contender. He ran over this track/distance last time out where he got the 1/1 sit and loomed to win but just lacked the change up finale to go with them late in the piece. Not sure he wins, but can run first four.

3 Taketo (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes here several weeks between runs since racing at The Valley when just off the speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite get involved when fourth to Fickle. She was 1200m back to 1000m so back up to 1200m, despite the tricky gate, she’s the one to beat.

8 Regal Secret (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1200m after racing over 1400m at Flemington on New Years Day. He got into a decent spot in transit and tried hard but couldn’t quite get there when fourth to Xarpo. Like her back in trip and maps to get every chance in transit.

5 Royal Invader (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Ciaron Maher trained mare that resumes. She is first up, having not raced since Aug 21 at Sandown when running third over 1500m in a good effort. Couple of jumpouts under the belt, maps well and gets the claim. Likeable.

3 Castellar (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is flying for Castellar and no reason to jump off him. He has won two on the bounce for Robbie Laing, winning at Caulfield Heath before that was no fluke with a strong win here two weeks ago. Harder here, but hard to knock how he’s going.

10 Miss Sunshine (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Team McEvoy trained mare that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since June 28 at Ballarat Synthetic when producing an end of prep run, finishing down the track behind She’s Extravagant. Jumpout work has been sharp, she’ll land on speed and only run well.

2 Epic Centre (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will land on the bunny and run well, which was the case at this track/distance last time but he just felt the pinch late in the piece behind Master Of Chant. If he leads and gets some form of control, he’ll run a cheeky race.

It’s hard to get away from 2 Ziryab (Bet Now:  $SP.00). Ciaron Maher trained gelding that was a dominant first up winner at Caulfield Heath, getting better as the race went on and was quite dominant late in the piece. He has upside/improvement to come and finds a winnable race again. Keen.

8 Flying Ace (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is dangerous if he gets front end control. He got that over 1500m here last time and that was the difference between winning and losing, finding under pressure to win. If he gets a soft lead, down in the weights, he’ll run really well.

6 Real Sensation (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has found positive form for Luke Oliver and brings the Saturday metro form. He ran a few weeks ago at The Valley where he got off speed and kept chasing in a pretty good effort in defeat behind Delta Sky. He’ll be strong late and is a must for exotics.

LONG SHOT: Race Four Number 2 East Indiaman
