Race 1. (13:13) Girls Day Out 1 March (Bm78) 2218m
6 Old Song (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the big improver. She was over a month between runs when racing a fortnight back over 2400m here where she got a fair way out of her ground and although she did make up headway, she was never really threatening, but she has a much better set up this time around and can settle closer in the run.
2 Cormac T (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) can win again. Neasham/Archibald trained gelding that was a strong winner two weeks ago here. He got on speed pretty comfortably and was trucking from a fair way out before being clicked up and he found under pressure, proving quite strong to the line in winning. He has room for improvement and will be strong at the end.
1 Artful Girl (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a model of consistency and shouldn’t be too far away, as seen behind Cormac T two weeks back when off the speed and kept chasing when a close up third. She doesn’t win out of turn but at this level, she should be around the mark.
Race 2. (13:48) Xxxx Plate (C3) 1820m
3 Zaphod (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks a good thing here surely? Resumed three weeks ago in a tidy metro race at Rosehill when chasing with purpose from off the speed but just found one better in Ring Me Up, who won here first up, so the form does tie in well, maps ideally…the one to beat, and clearly.
7 Jealous (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should prove hard to beat here for Rob Heathcoate. This mare has been a model of consistency in recent runs, winning two back at the Sunny Coast before racing two weeks ago over this track/distance when off speed and chased strongly but found one better in Indy Rose Warrior. Racing well, hard fit, she is a definite threat.
5 Five Rings (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has an engine under the hood. He was well tried at odds in the Highway a fortnight back at Rosehill and while the bets were landed, I thought he ran a credible race in defeat, closing off with purpose in a pretty good effort behind Sunchyme. More positive ride, he can threaten.
Race 3. (14:23) Season's Greetings From Brc Hcp (C6) 1000m
1 Safework (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks the map horse and I’ll bank on him being strongest late. He hasn’t raced since Nov 2 when a track/distance, sitting off the speed before angling clear under Callow and finished best to win in a tidy race. Maps to stalk again and get last look.
2 Bezique (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Tony Gollan trained mare that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since the Ramornie when on speed and just looked a tired horse when down the track behind impressive winner Ka Bling. Looked sharp in a trial win and she does go well on the fresh side so watch the market.
3 Flaming Conquest (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is just under two week between runs since racing over 1000m at the Sunny Coast. She sat on speed throughout and was as game as ever but felt the pinch late when third to Lost In Transit. Good racing style and likes the track/distance.
Race 4. (14:58) Brc Life Members (Bm70) 1500m
This is a case of waddle your finger and hope for the best. 9 Larrikin Rouge (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has been a bit disappointing in recent times but I do feel this race has thinned right out after scratchings. He found testing ground at the Sunny Coast last time out and he couldn’t get involved when down the track. Firmer footing, he can bounce back.
7 Runwiththetide (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is racing really well at present and commands respect. Strong winner here two back on Cup Day before going to Doomben where he was near the speed and fought on really well in defeat behind a good horse, Taltarni Fields. That form reads well for this.
23 Who Ordered Dafish (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is one that can be entertained as a knockout hope. He ran two weeks back over 1800m here where he got a fair way out of his ground and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up headway and was pretty good in defeat I thought behind Indy Rose Warrior. Dangerous if he can settle closer.
Race 5. (15:37) Sky Racing Qlty 1600m
2 Run Lucy Run (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to the mile off the back of an impressive win over 1400m two weeks back at Eagle Farm. She led throughout and was just too good for them, getting front end control and kicked on strongly to fend them off and win. If the mile is fine, then she’s hard to beat.
3 Celestial Blaze (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is progressive and heading in the right direction. Debuted with a strong second over 1200m here before going to 1350m at Doomben when on speed and was too good for them in a decent display. The 1600m should be fine and he has upside/progression.
1 Savour The Dream (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is dangerous with his best. Three weeks between runs since resuming over 1200m at the Gold Coast on testing ground and just couldn’t pick his feet up late in the piece behind Flying Birds. Better set up here and has a touch of quality about him.
Race 6. (16:12) Members Mile 1600m
1 Tannhauser (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks to be sneaky flying for Chris Waller and I am quite keen on him here. He comes through the Festival from three weeks ago where not much went right for him on the shifty track but his finale was quite good I thought. He’ll love 1600m at Eagle Farm and on a firmer deck, I think he’ll run a beauty.
10 Arts Object (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a beauty for Kurt Goldman that has to be respected after his Tails Stakes win a fortnight back, surging hard late under Jones and drove to get there, right on the peg. She was only second up there so with good improvement to come, she’ll take beating.
2 Encoder (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) steps back up to the mile after being 1600m back to 1500m two weeks back in the Tails. He got back and was chasing from the outset but he kept on and was pretty good in defeat I thought. Back up in trip, he’s an improver at odds.
Race 7. (16:48) B.j. Mclachlan Stakes 1200m
8 Hi Barbie (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks a smart type for Tony Golland and she can put her hand up for the Magic Millions here. Not sure she was 100% happy on the bog when debuting in the Phelan Ready but class kicked in and she was far too good for them.
All you can do is win and that is what 10 The Playwright (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) did on debut at Rosehill three weeks ago. He was on speed throughout and credit to him, he found under pressure to fend them off and win. Extra 100m is fine and he’s in the right camp.
4 Mortal Halo (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks a nice colt for the Neasham/Archibald camp. He debuted two weeks back here at this trip when getting the suck run in transit just off the speed and presented to win but just found one better in Formula Rossa. Has that experience now, he takes beating.
Race 8. (17:32) Magic Millions Falvelon 1200m
2 Zarastro (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should love getting to 1200m. He resumed in the Bribie a fortnight back when near the speed and loomed to win but just couldn’t quite see it through when second to stablemate Golden Boom. Fitter and up to a more ideal trip, he takes beating I say.
7 Boom Torque (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has eyes on the Magic Millions but he is a pretty sharp horse for Matty Dunn and I think he can give this a shake fresh. He hasn’t raced since The Kosciuszko when a game fourth, albeit a distant fourth, to Far Too Easy. Spelled, given a good trial hitout and maps perfect.
1 Rothfire (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has to be given another look. I thought his return in the Bribie was a bit inconclusive. He was off the speed, between runners and didn’t really have room to wind up but he was okay without threatening I thought. He has credits in the bank, so don’t dismiss him.
Race 9. (18:12) U&U Recruitment (Bm85) 1400m
10 Transatlantic (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has to be given another look for Tony Gollan. He was a hard favourite in The Gateway two weeks ago but he was nearer the inside and he just couldn’t pick his feet up late in the piece when down the track and on face value, he was disappointing, but had excuses. Firmer deck, outside horses hopefully, he’ll take holding out.
8 Weigall Tiger (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has returned well and is hard to beat after a midweek win at Ipswich where he looked a good thing on paper and duly saluted as such, leading throughout and giving his rivals zero look in to win quite well. Good record at this track, he’ll press forward and take beating.
11 Rising Pacific (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a son of Preferment for Tony Gollan that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since July 13 at Doomben when sliding forward, ridden with intent, but it didn’t work out and he tired to finish down the track behind Cinque Torri. He can sprint well fresh and his recent trial was quite encouraging.
Race 10. (18:50) Ladbrokes Racing Club Plate (C3) 1200m
5 Taltarni Fields (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a good horse that is heading in the right direction. He won over 1200m at Doomben last time out where he got into a sweet sit in transit. Just a matter of getting clear air and pushing the button. Once that eventuated, it was race over and he was far too good. Confident he can measure up against these.
6 Thankyou Henry (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a key threat. He was game in defeat fresh at Doomben before going to Ipswich where I am not sure he was 100% happy around the tight track but class kicked in and he was much too good. Bigger track, 1200m, hard fit, he appeals as a winning chance.
9 Tannenburg (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a son of Russian Revolution that resumes for Chris Waller. He is first up, having not raced since Aug 24 at Doomben over the mile when placing behind Vcitory Win after getting a fair way out of his ground. Given a break and has trialled nicely for the return.
