21/1/2023 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Gawler

2 Aramoso (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an Emma Hubbard trained son of Mikki Isle on debut. She’s had two jumpouts and a trial to get ready for start one. The trial came at Strathalbyn on Monday where he was on speed throughout before taking the lead shortly after straightening and was too good for them under no real pressure. He’s had the grounding for a forward showing at start one so I’m leaning his way.

4 Santastico (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of Santos for Matty Seyers that is on debut. This guy was just fair in a jumpout last month before winning a trial at Murray Bridge a few weeks ago. He was pushed out from the front but did respond nicely and ran reasonable time. I like seeing that from a juvenile/unraced type, getting pushed out and responding. Market will tell you if he’s any good or not.

5 Off The Cuff (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has race experience on her side and that counts for plenty in a race where the rest are first starters. This girl debuted at Murray Bridge back in October and was very raw/new to the caper when down the track behind Harleen. Thought she closed off well enough in the Strathalbyn trial on Monday behind Aramoso. Small field, she won’t be far away and does get Vorster.

3 Imbibe (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a filly heading in the right direction for Team Alexander. Five weeks between runs since racing over this track/distance where she was met with good support and despite a few nervous moments in the straight, she knuckled down strongly late under Vorster to win. The break between runs interests me, but she looks one of the hardest to beat in a thin race.

4 Private Jet (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a key threat. Lee Creek trained three year old that was ridden like a good thing at Naracoorte last time, sitting wide no cover on speed, but he had too much class on them and was too good for them under Opperman. There isn’t too much depth to this line and the way he won last time, 1500m should be fine and has more upside than most.

8 Soames (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is still a maiden but I do think 1500m will be ideal for him. Beaten as a $1.20 favourite in a Strathalbyn maiden two back before going here two weeks back and despite never being a threat, I didn’t mind the way he found the line late behind Zebella. The last couple of runs have indicated that a rise in trip would suit and he gets that here. Don’t pen him.

5 Munster (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has more upside than most and fitter, he’ll take beating. Ran over this trip several weeks ago on the Parks track where he was back in the run and wasn’t suited given his position in the run but I thought he worked to the line very well late in the piece when third to Saskatoon. He was second up and a month between runs there, so he’s got loads of improvement to come and is hard to beat.

2 Picargo (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been really well placed by Ryan Balfour his past couple and commands respect here. He has won his past two, both wins coming over 1200m at Gawler where each time has been ridden a treat by Livesay and been strong to the line. More depth this time around but he’s a horse in form. has versatility re racing pattern and rates highly against this lot.

7 Secret War (Bet Now:  $SP.00) isn’t a long shot but is third pick in a race with three chances. He will likely get the staggers late but he will look the winner for a long way I am sure. Sustained speed came to the fore with him when winning here two weeks back. It was a very positive ride from the outset and he gave nothing else a look in despite walking to the line late in the piece. If this track is suiting those on speed, near the fence, he’ll take catching.

11 Sixteen Reasons (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top for me. Clarken/O’Shea trained filly that is on debut and for mine, looks prepped right up for a winning debut. Jukebox filly that has had three jumpouts and a trial this time in to get ready for start one. The trial came a couple of weeks back at Murray Bridge and she looked to move quite sweetly under Pannell, running fifth but was under a hold. Think she has an engine under the hood and is hard to beat.

13 Ice Symphony (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a bit of a squib so 1100m here is interesting. Ran over 1100m at Morphettville a few weeks ago where he was there to be some sort of threat but the end of 1100m found him out behind impressive winner Oracle Son. They have tried to stretch him out in trip but I do think his go in life is short course racing so with that in mind, he appeals here in a maiden that is thin overall.

6 Lady De Lune (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can be an improver at a price. Stuart Padman trained mare that resumed over 1050m at Oakbank when wide throughout no cover and when the track is fair, sitting wide is suicidal, so forgive and forget she went around. Prior form from last prep reads pretty well for a race like this and with better luck in running, she can take this out.

5 In The Darkness (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has come back in good order for Michael Hickmott. Game second fresh at Morphettville to Aitch D’Amico after covering ground before going to Strathalbyn where she was ridden positively from the outset and despite being hard ridden to get the win, she finished best. Tick over trial was good, she has a good racing style and is only third up, so she has more upside than most.

4 Storm Hunter (Bet Now:  $SP.00) hasn’t done much wrong in three runs back from a break. Defied a notable betting drift to win at Strathalbyn over 1350m last time, getting the suck run behind the speed and was able to get the splits at the right time to finish best and win. More depth here, but gets an ideal map from the gate and is racing like 1500m suits.

6 Pitrain (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is four weeks between runs for Team Jaensch since racing over 1400m at Murray Bridge where he was back, four wide the trip, and couldn’t quite finish it off behind Fleurieu Flipper. Prior form was quite good and the tick over trial was a good piece of work at Murray Bridge, so don’t put a line through him because this is a winnable race.

4 East Indiaman (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and prove hard to run down. He resumed at Sandown on Boxing Day where he attempted to lead throughout and while he was suited by the track pattern, he found and was only nabbed late in the piece when third to Diamonds Inthe Sky. Fitter, he will land in front and he is tough to get past. He’ll give a stack of cheek and for mine is the one to beat.

6 Versetto (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the map horse and is hard fit, knocking on the door to win. Three weeks between runs since racing at Murray Bridge where he was wide no cover on speed but despite that, he loomed large to win. Just couldn’t quite get there when a narrow second to Turf Decision. Draws gate one so should get run of the race and is a leading contender.

9 Onehundred Percent (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has the Victorian form and more often than not, that stands up here. He ran at Geelong last time where he had every chance it seemed behind the speed but couldn’t quite finish it off behind Tick Tock Boom. This race, as a whole, is on the thin side, and stable finds J Holder to steer, so he is in the race for sure.

The end of prep run could well be approaching but on current form, 5 Rebel Lee (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks too good for this lot. Macdonald/Gluyas trained mare that is absolutely flying at the moment, winning her past three, with a big seemingly being the Blinkers being applied. She has been able to relax in the run and showcase change up speed late to win impressively. Have to be with her again.

4 Disagreeable Miss (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has found winning form and no reason why she can’t hold it. Was bursting to win a race and it finally came two weeks ago at this track/distance where she beat up a similar field and got better as the race went on. I do think the Rebel Lee form lines are stronger but if she is at the end of her prep, this is the mare on the up in winning form. The key threat.

2 Darlamax (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can run a much improved race back to SA level. He ran at Sandown two weeks back over 2400m where he was on speed and just found them a bit sharp, tiring badly late when down the track behind So Unusual. He was a dominant winner at Morphettville three back and I do think SA metro is his level more so than Melbourne, so he rates highly against this lot.

4 Getouttheway (Bet Now:  $SP.00) saves his best for Gawler and is a last start winner, so he appeals against these. Wong produced a 12/10 on this guy here two weeks ago, saving all the ground nearer the inside and in a driving go, he finished best, with no doubt the ride winning the race. He doesn’t have the best of racing patterns but with his track stats, he’s the one for me in a competitive race.

Fitter and up to 1700m are two big ticks for 2 Platform (Bet Now:  $SP.00). Travis Doudle trained gelding that resumed at Morphettville three weeks ago where he attempted to lead throughout and he did give a pretty strong kick but being first up, condition just gave way late so be forgiving of the run behind Yulong Patrol. Gets better as the prep goes on and is a second up winner so he rates highly.

8 Fox D’Or (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is in with a shout. He’s had three runs for Darren McLeod and each time he has been pretty good, the latest being at Gawler where he was back near last in the run and was never a threat but didn’t mind the way he finished his race off behind Metro Legend, beaten 4.5L. Has won at 1700m before so rising to that trip here is fine and can settle much closer in the run if need be.

Fitter and up to 1100m are two big ticks for 5 Amasi Farasi (Bet Now:  $SP.00). Clarken/O’Shea trained mare that resumed over 900m at Murray Bridge four weeks back where she was run off her legs and couldn’t pick her feet up early but balanced up and was good to the line behind My Ruby. Like her up to 1100m and if she can settle closer in the run, her best is good enough to win.

11 Miss Miduki (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is finding it hard to win a race but she does look hard to beat against a moderate bunch here. She ran over this track/distance two weeks ago where she had the suck run behind the speed, perhaps ridden a touch too warm, and she just couldn’t quite finish it off behind Jaazeb, who is a handy horse with talent, so that form, I think, should hold up for a race like this.

10 Isa Secret (Bet Now:  $SP.00) tends to do her best racing at Port Lincoln but off her last start effort, she’d take beating against these. Dominant win two back at Port Lincoln but she ran a super race here a fortnight back behind Jaazeb, working home with real purpose from the back. That is not her pattern. She usually likes to race forward so if she can settle closer in the run, she’ll be a leading chance.

BEST BET: Race Seven Number 5 Rebel Lee

NEXT BEST: Race Six Number 4 East Indiaman

LONG SHOT: Race Three Number 5 Munster
