7 Be Water My Friend (Bet Now: $6.00) is flying again since joining Matty Park. He was a very talented juvenile but seemingly lost way. Now with Park, he is back to somewhere near his level he was producing as a two year old. Lot of arrogance about his win here several weeks ago and he was only second up, so you’d like to think there is improvement to come.

5 Vaporizing (Bet Now: $5.50) is dangerous if he can get an economical run. This gelding resumed over 1110m here a fortnight back and was very good from near last on the turn when second to impressive winner Kavak. Back to 1050m, he’ll be fine and be hard to hold out late against these.

4 Skilord (Bet Now: $8.50) deserves a crack in town. He’s flying for Mark Currie. Got the win in the Stewards room two back at the Sunny Coast Poly before going to the home deck at Toowoomba where he made an absolute mess of them from the front. That sort of racing style is suited for the short course here.

Fitter, up to 1350m, I’m quite keen here on 1 Hang Five (Bet Now: $2.35) for the O’Dea/Hoysted camp. He has class/quality, as seen as a juvenile. He resumed here two weeks ago here where the market said it would be a prep run and that’s how it panned out, but liked his finale behind Spiritualised. Much better set up this time around, I’m keen on his chances.

4 Demon Delivera (Bet Now: $6.00) has had a couple of runs at 1200m and now he looks like he should appreciate a rise to 1350m. Last run came a fortnight back here behind Spiritualised where he had the suck run behind the speed and battled away well when second. With a similar trip, I think 1350m will be fine.

5 The Missionary (Bet Now: $10.00) is 2/2 this time in and deserves a crack at metro level. Both starts/wins this prep have come at the Sunny Coast and while she hasn’t beaten much, she has been impressive. Good test for her here, but the stable and their younger horses should be respected.

4 Go Wandji (Bet Now: $1.28) is a Winter Carnival horse for next year and IMO is a Stradbroke horse. He’s not beating a great deal overall, but it’s the way he has been winning. He gives them a start and a beating, handling all conditions and producing good change up speed, notably three weeks ago at Eagle Farm. Good test for him against this bunch, but given I think he’s destined for better things, I am happy to be in his corner.

2 Tumbler Ridge (Bet Now: $8.50) is suited up in trip. The two runs in the Winter were at 1200m, the latest being in early July behind Goldsborough, so with relatively fresh legs here at 1350m, that tells me he’s got enough work in him to run well. Beating Go Wandji is another matter.

5 Plenty (Bet Now: $13.00) has done an excellent job since joining Adrian Coome and wouldn’t shock me if he ran well. He ran in the Cleveland Bay at Townsville last time and was excellent from last when third to Wren’s Day. Maps ideally from the inside gate and will be strong at the end.

9 Otyrar (Bet Now: $5.50) has stayer written all over him so the rise to 2200m looks ideal. Looked a good thing when racing last Wednesday over 2060m here and despite just getting there, the win had good merit given he was back in the run. Has the Waller polish and is coming off a win.

7 Za Ceibas (Bet Now: $3.80) has found winning form and I think he’ll hold it. Chris Waller trained gelding that has been strong in three runs in the sunshine state, the latest being a dominant win over 2000m here two weeks ago where he had the suck run behind the speed and dashed clear late. Extra 200m should be fine and once these Waller horses find form, they hold it.

4 Shepard (Bet Now: $13.00) is a working progress for Desleigh Forster and wouldn’t shock me if he greeted the judge first. He ran in the Za Ceibas race from two weeks back here. He was a bit one paced in the run to the line but he stayed on and was solid late. Rises to 2200m and has good upside to come.

Matty Smith rarely gets it wrong when he sends them to QLD so I am in the corner of 3 Daralina Belle (Bet Now: $2.40). Sprouted wings late to win at Caulfield two back before going to Randwick where the sit/sprint set up wasn’t to her liking. Back to a truly run 1200m, ideal map, she’ll do me in a thin race.

12 Self Sufficient (Bet Now: $4.80) is worth another look. This mare resumed here two weeks ago where the race shape was against her and she just whacked away late in a sit/sprint behind Liza With A Zee. Good in her lone second up run and up to 1200m, she deserves another chance.

13 Just Field (Bet Now: $12.00) deserves another chance. Was really keen on her when she raced here two weeks ago but the race shape was against her and she was inside runners, which I am not sure is her go in life. If she gets clear air and a genuine tempo, I think she’s flying and can take this out.

3 Slow Hands (Bet Now: $19.00) might want one more run but I do think a rise to the mile second up is an ideal set up. Resumed two weeks ago over 1350m here where he was back near last in the run and while he was never a winning factor, he worked to the line well enough behind Bargannon. Best is good enough to be dangerous.

8 Jakama (Bet Now: $4.60) is a beauty for John Dann that commands respect. He was 1800m back to 1350m when racing here two weeks back and closed off strongly, just missing out on the win when beaten a lip by Bargannon. He’s got good upside to come and will be strong late.

5 Aussie Nugget (Bet Now: $8.50) looks like he will enjoy life in the sunshine state. Formerly with Team Freedman, he had his first run for Tony Gollan two weeks back over 1350m and for a horse who is better suited over further, it was a very encouraging effort behind Bargannon. Got more upside than most and hopefully can settle closer in the run.

12 Count The Coin (Bet Now: $9.00) is flying for Kevin Kemp and is hard to beat against these. Last couple of runs have come at this track/distance, the latest being two weeks ago when back in the run but closed off with real purpose late when fourth to Couldn’t Refuse. Back to 72 grade, he clearly rates highly.

5 Jack The Lad (Bet Now: $6.00) isn’t far off a win and is a knockout chance in a race like this. I think gate one was somewhat against him last time at Doomben over the mile, being ridden a touch too close to the speed and just couldn’t quite finish it off behind Red Light Roxanne. I think with a more patient steer, you’ll see a better effort.

The rise to the mile I do like for 13 Merimee (Bet Now: $2.70). Chris Waller trained mare that resumed at the midweeks here and drove hard late from off the speed to just miss out on the win when second to Hatchet, who bolted up last Wednesday, so the form reads very well. Hard to beat with good upside.

12 Rubamos (Bet Now: $3.40) on top in what is a tricky race. He was seven weeks between runs when racing over this track/distance two weeks ago where he was tucked in behind the speed and tried hard, but was no match late for dominant all the way winner Enterprise Mia. Fitter, ideal map, he’s the one to beat.

13 Safework (Bet Now: $7.50) is finding it hard to win, but he’s around the mark. On the seven day back up after racing last Saturday at Eagle Farm where he was there to threaten after a suck run but couldn’t quite get the win when fourth to Winside. Two time winner at the track/distance, while he hasn’t won in a long time, he can threaten.

14 Fleet Dove (Bet Now: $9.50) deserves another chance. She was very good fresh behind Osamu when second. Raced at Eagle Farm again when doing work from a tricky gate and tired late behind impressive winner Go Wandji. Hard fit now and back at Doomben, where she loves, she can bounce back.

3 Desert Dreamer (Bet Now: $3.00) has returned in excellent order for Tony Gollan. Not many expected him to sprint with purpose first up over 1200m here a fortnight back but he was specked at a price late and the bets were landed, finishing best to win well. Fitter, he appeals big time here.

7 Bonaparte (Bet Now: $8.00) commands respect. Stuart Kendrick trained gelding that is four weeks between runs since racing over this track/distance when back near last in the run and working home with real purpose late in the piece behind Maya Bay. Hard to beat if he can settle closer in the run.

17 Bundyandcoke (Bet Now: $4.40) has found winning form…question being can he now hold it? Sat on a solid speed at Eagle Farm last time out but looked to be trucking under Harrison. Once she pushed the button on the gelding, away he went and he was dominant. Harder here, but confident he measures up.

NEXT BEST: Race Two Number 1 Hang Five

LONG SHOT: Race Six Number 3 Slow Hands
