A nine race card has been set down for Morphettville on Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is soft (5) and the rail is out nine metres from the 1200m-Winning Post; Out five metres for the remainder.

Race 1. (12:47) Spring Carnival 14-11 Oct-Bm64 1200m
3 Huggle Time (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks a nice horse for Team Jolly and happy to be in his corner to make it 2/2. He debuted last Wednesday at Murray Bridge where the market said he was a good thing and despite a few nervous moments in the straight, he had a bit on them and was too good. There are some likely types engaged here, but I think he’s a likely type himself.
1 Air Assault (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a son of Justify for Andrew Gluyas that resumes. Where he ends up this prep, not sure, but he is a talented animal. Last run came in the SA Sires where he lapped up the 1400m and was far too good in a sharp return. Looked sharp in a jumpout win last week so keen to see how he resumes. Market watch for sure.
5 Into The Light (Bet Now: $SP.00) is still a maiden but she has a decent engine under the hood. She ran over this trip two weeks back on the Parks track when back off the speed, spotting them a decent start, but did work home quite well late in the piece behind Braveman’sgame. She has that 1200m run under the belt, which should hold her in good stead for this.
Race 2. (13:22) Skycity Mdn Plate 1050m
7 Episodic (Bet Now: $SP.00) on top but not really a race I want to get involved in. Formerly with Chris Waller, she now finds herself with Clarken/O’Shea. Latest run was March 15 at Warwick Farm over the mile where she was on speed throughout and tried her guts out but couldn’t quite finish it off, running third. 1050m is on the short side but her recent jumpout was strong and with decent cover, she’ll be strong at the end.
5 Astromancer (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Francis/Kent trained mare that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since October 22 when a close up fifth to Second To Nun in what has turned out to be a hot maiden with seven winners coming from it. Two strong jumpouts under the belt to get ready and with the claim for Hannan, she gets in very well.
6 Aztec Dancer (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one I can entertain for wider multiples. Searle/Callanan trained mare that was met with market support when debuting in a 1200m maiden at Gawler where she was just off the speed throughout and tried hard but couldn’t quite get there when fourth to Velvet Star. Back to 1050m is ideal and with that market support on debut, she must have shown something at home. Definite chance.
Race 3. (13:57) Pfd Food Services (Bm82) 1600m
4 Exalted Fire (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an absolute beauty for Michael Hickmott and seems the straight bat option. He has won three of his past four, his last runs resulting in strong wins. Latest was on the Parks track two weeks ago where he got a sweet sit in transit under Pannell and in a driving finish, was too good for Metro Legend. Been up a while but it’s hard to knock the way he’s racing at the moment.
3 Hopon Harry (Bet Now: $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness for Andrew Gluyas. He is three weeks between runs since contesting the Behemoth at Morphettville where he just found them a bit sharp at 1200m but didn’t mind the way he finished his race off behind See You In Heaven. Like him up to the mile and does strike a winnable race.
7 France’s Boy (Bet Now: $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and give them something to chase. He did that two weeks back on the Parks track, attempting to lead throughout, and did give a solid kick, but couldn’t quite see it through, beaten just over a length by Exalted Fire. Not sure I could back him to win, but he is a must for exotics.
Race 4. (14:32) The Fotobase Group (Bm70) 1800m
Hard to get away from 1 Silent Don (Bet Now: $SP.00). Clarken/O’Shea trained gelding that is absolutely flying, looking to make it four wins from his past six. Latest run was three weeks ago at this track/distance where he got into a lovely spot behind the speed before angling into clear air and in a driving finish, he was too good. Hard to knock the way he’s racing, he’ll do me.
8 Flight Deck (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a knockout hope for the Richards/Moyle camp. He ran over 1800m three weeks ago on the course proper here. He was back and wide with cover before making a midrace move, trying to attempt a long sustained run but couldn’t quite finish it off when second to Flyway. Reckon with an economical run in transit, he’ll be fine and is a definite chance.
2 Exalted Ruth (Bet Now: $SP.00) is racing so well for the Daniel/Stanbury camp and has to be respected. First run for the stable came over 2000m several weeks back when back near last in the run and making a sustained run and tried her guts out but couldn’t quite sustain the run to the line when second to surprise winner Orbital Express. Back in trip no issue, in form, likeable.
Race 5. (15:07) Fleurieu Milk Company (Bm72) 1200m
Landed with 9 Boognish (Bet Now: $SP.00) in a pretty solid race. Clarken/O’Shea trained mare that has contested blacktype her past two, the latest being three weeks ago in the Behemoth when outclassed on paper but she was far from disgraced in defeat behind See You In Heaven. Back to benchmark grade and right down in the weights, I think she only runs well.
4 Party Princess (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Andrew Gluyas trained mare that resumes. This girl did a super job when last in work, contesting Stakes races and while she didn’t measure up in the Oaks, she ran very well for the most part, highlighted by an Adelaide Guineas triumph. Better suited over further but has class and the A1 form.
Interesting that 6 Aiguilette (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes back to 1200m. He ran over 1500m three weeks ago here where he got back to near last in the run and did make up solid ground but was never really a threat behind Ammo Amor. He will likely be spotting them a start but if they overdo it in front, look for him to launch late.
Race 6. (15:47) Adel. Galvanising Indus.-Bm86 1050m
2 Keep Reading (Bet Now: $SP.00) has to be given another chance. Team Jolly trained gelding that was a dominant winner two back at Murray Bridge before going to the Parks track where he did work from the wide gate and that sealed his fate, tiring and not being as dynamic when a close up third to Home Rule. With a better run in transit, he’ll take beating against these.
5 Classy Kenny (Bet Now: $SP.00) is racing so well for Hickmott/Riggs but is finding it hard to win. He ran over this trip on the Parks track a fortnight back where he was off the speed and full of running. He got clear and drove hard, just missing out on the win when second to Home Rule. He needs things to fall into place but if he does, he’ll be extremely hard to hold out.
3 Rich Gina (Bet Now: $SP.00) has to be given another look for Team Blanch. She was kept safe in betting when resuming in the Home Rule race from two weeks back. She was wide with cover and tried to blend into the race but was a bit one paced to the line in a plain return. She’s too good of a mare to dismiss off one run so I am giving her a look.
Race 7. (16:27) Winning Edge Presentations-68 1050m
3 Saville (Bet Now: $SP.00) is flying and commands respect. Three weeks between runs since racing over 1100m where he appreciated the fast speed and loomed to win when let down but couldn’t quite get there when second to Suzido. Fast run 1050m, hard fit, in form, he’ll be spotting them a start but will be stronger than most.
6 Midnight Rush (Bet Now: $SP.00) has found winning form and he can certainly go on with it. Narrow second to The Great Baby at Balaklava two back before making amends at Gawler at the midweeks. Nothing flash about the win but I did like the way he dug in late when the race needed to be won and he did. The trip is a query, but hard to knock the last start effort.
5 Lonrodex (Bet Now: $SP.00) has found winning form and he can certainly go on with it. Market surprisingly took a set against him two weeks ago on the Parks track but nobody told the horse that, as he led most of the way and showed good ticker late to fend them off and win. More depth here, but hard fit, in form, good racing style, he appeals.
Race 8. (17:02) Thomas Farms (Bm64) 1527m
7 More Sugar (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes back to 1500m and should prove hard to beat. Three weeks between runs since racing over 1800m here where she got back off the speed but crept into the race and tried hard but I just reckon 1800m at this level found her out when third. Back in trip looks a big tick and if she’s within range on the turn, she’s good enough to win.
13 Red Roof (Bet Now: $SP.00) doesn’t have the best of racing patterns but she can really launch at them late. That was the case two weeks ago on the Parks track when settling near last but finished hard late, just missing out on the win when a narrow second to I’m Kenny. Hopefully gets a drag into the race and should that eventuate, she’ll be extremely hard to hold out.
2 Texan Windstorm (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a knockout hope. Forget he went around two weeks back on the Parks track given he was behind the speed and full of running but didn’t get clear air at the right time and by the time he got out, it was race over. Hard horse to catch but I am convinced he is racing well and can certainly take this out.
Race 9. (17:40) Grand Syndicates (Bm64) 1200m
9 Jilladora (Bet Now: $SP.00) on top in the get out. Justin Pickering trained mare that was a strong winner three weeks ago at this track/distance, fending off a handy one in Sixteen Reasons to just get the win. No horse of that quality here and with Opperman taking over, he rates highly.
3 Arugamama (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an Andrew Gluyas trained mare that resumes. She did a pretty good job during the Carnival when last in work, placing in both the Clare Lindop and Auraria. Better suited over fitter but has a touch of class when right and will be strong at the end.
12 Miss Remski (Bet Now: $SP.00) is dangerous if they ride her with more intent. They rode her with a sit when resuming here three weeks back but she was nearer the inside thanks to drawing gate one and that sealed her fate given the inside was quicksand behind Suzido. Think with a more positive steer, landing on speed, she can run a much improved race.
