Race 1. (11:35) Midway (Bm72) 1200m
4 Vindication (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) appeals. Jarrod Austin trained gelding that has returned in super order, resuming with a dominant win at Wyong before going here three weeks when just off the speed and found the line nicely when second to a very nice horse, Mogo Magic. Hard fit, in form and strikes a winnable Midway IMO. Leading chance.
7 Ningaloo Star (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks to have returned in pretty good order and fitter, up to 1200m, I think it all points to her running well. She was met with good market support when resuming in the Midway two weeks ago at Rosehill and she kept finding the line in a good return when third to Hard To Say. Fitter and up to 1200m, good upside left, she’s the way I am leaning.
13 The Seven Seas (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is dangerous with her best. She was somewhat unwanted in betting when resuming two in a Midway two weeks back. She got into a decent spot near the speed and was there to win in the straight but being first up, condition just gave way when fourth to Hard To Say. Much better set up this time around so I wouldn’t drop off her.
Race 2. (12:10) Tab Highway Hcp (C2) 1100m
1 Derry Grove (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks a smart animal for Matty Dunn and should take beating. The stable has been sneaky flying in recent weeks and they have this guy coming here off a first up win, which came over 1100m at Ipswich when producing sustained speed from the front and gave nothing else a look in to win well. Good racing style and is putting together a tidy record. Hard to beat.
7 Miss Kirribilli (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a daughter of Your Song for Tim Donnelly that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since November 26 in a Highway at Rosehill when a close up fourth to a nice horse, Sussu. She is a mare who can sprint well on the fresh side and with a couple of solid trials under the belt, I think she’s ready to go, so watch the market.
2 Sungblue (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is first up her for Brett Cavanough and is certainly dangerous despite 1100m being on the short side. His last run came on June 10 in a Highway here when near the speed and presented to win the race but as always, just couldn’t quite finish the race off behind Cliff House. No public trial leading in but is honest and should be around the mark.
Race 3. (12:45) Gold Coast Turf Club (Bm78) 2400m
3 Intuitu (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has found winning form and he can certainly go on with it for Annabel. He comes back to Sydney after making a trip to Eagle Farm two weeks ago when giving them a start and a beating, sitting back and finishing over the top for an impressive win. He was only third up there so with good room for improvement, he rates highly against this lot.
1 Kirkeby (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has found a purple patch for Chris Waller and is holding it. His last couple of runs have come over 2400m at Rosehill, He finished best to win two back before racing there a fortnight back when off the speed and kept finding the line when second to Verona, who gapped them and was impressive despite having a big SP. Only has to continue hold his form to be around the mark.
7 Chateaux Park (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) tends to save his best for midweek races but you can argue this race has the depth of a midweek race and he comes off a win. That win came over 2200m on the home track at Warwick Farm, finishing best after slicing his way through the field under Schiller. Harder here, but off a win, he’s certainly in with a shout.
Race 4. (13:20) Toyota Forklifts (Bm78) 1600m
18 Venelope (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) on top for me but not really a race I want to get involved in. Maher/Eustace trained mare that ran over 1300m here three weeks ago where she got back off the speed and was hampered/held up at times but got clear and found the line well enough I thought behind King Of Naples. Like her up to the mile and right down in the weights, she only runs well.
17 Principessa (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is on the quick back up for Joe Pride after winning on Wednesday at Canterbury, where she got a suck run behind the speed before angling into clear air late and drove hard late to win well. Is bred to be a 2000m+ horse but has shown herself to have change up speed over shorter trips. Like her on the back up and despite a tricky gate, she appeals.
4 Kingsheir (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a first four prospect. Kim Waugh trained gelding that ran in the Amor Victorious race from two weeks back at Rosehill. He was near last in the run and while he was never really a threat, he did make up ground and was pretty good in defeat, beaten 3.6L. Third up from a spell, so he should be ready to go and his best is certainly good enough.
Race 5. (13:55) Show County Qlty 1200m
9 Kalino (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a beauty for Chris Waller and should prove hard to beat. Market wanted him with confidence late in the piece when resuming at Rosehill four weeks ago and it was the ride that won the race. Ridden with intent to play towards the up/in pattern, he ended up landing box seat before angling clear and driving hard to win. He’ll take beating against these, especially back to 1200m with J Kah steering.
10 Extremely Lucky… (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is he here to make a statement towards The Everest? There is certainly a bit of hype around this former SA galloper because he was on track to be an Everest horse this time last year when with Clarken/O’Shea but as soon as you had that thought, the wheels fell off. Now with Waller, his trials have been electric and if he brings his best, he will run a beauty.
7 Dragonstone (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is knocking on the door. He has placed in all three runs this time in, the latest coming in the Missile two weeks back. He sat back before peeling wider, avoiding the carnage and launched late but found one better in I Am Me. Not sure he has the quality to win a race like this, but is a must for multiples.
Race 6. (14:30) Premier's Cup 2000m
14 Fawkner Park (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the straight bat option. Progressive import for Annabel Neasham that ran in the Prelude two weeks ago where he got too far back in the run and was forced to make up too much ground but you had to like the way he finished the race off behind Bold Mac. Fitter, up in trip again, I think it all points to him taking this out.
Having a throw at the stumps in including 2 Cleveland (Bet Now:Β $SP.00). He is a very good stayer when right and did start $4 in the Sydney Cup where he pulled up badly with clear excuses. Now with Kris Lees…yes, figuring out a Lloyd Williams runner is something even Isaac Newton would struggle with, but if he’s here ready to go, he will take beating.
9 Military Mission (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a big improver at a likely big price. He ran in the Premiers Cup Prelude two weeks back when off the speed and just looked in need of the run. He’s a gun second up horse and I am hoping they show more intent and land near the front, ideally leading. If that eventuates, I think he’ll give cheek.
Race 7. (15:05) Toy Show Qlty 1100m
7 Parisal (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks primed to resume with a Group win and further add to her page. She did a very good job in the Autumn, highlighted by a win in the Typhoon Tracy at The Valley before running second in the PJ Bell and was spelled soon after. Two strong trials under the belt to get ready for the return and 1100m fresh, sitting off a good speed, just looks a perfect set up.
1 Zougotcha (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the class of the field and class will carry her a long way. She resumes for Chris Waller, having not raced since the Doncaster when ridden a touch upside down to sit on speed and she tired late behind Mr Brightside. Just one soft trial to get ready for the return but she is the class runner and despite drawing wide, she should get good cover and launch late.
8 Queen Of The Ball (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a quality mare for Michael Freedman that resumes and with her racing style, she certainly has to be respected. She had a two run Autumn prep and just didn’t really fire compared to what she was doing in the Spring. Has been given an extended break and has returned super based off her trials, so keen to see how she resumes.
Race 8. (15:45) Winx Stks 1400m
13 Fangirl (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a mare who is top class but kept bumping into Anamoe. He’s not around anymore and as of right now, there is no horse ready to take his mantle so with that in mind, I think she is clearly the one to beat. She resumes after a somewhat frustrating Autumn where she bumped into Anamoe and wet tracks, two things that she hates and hated. Given a good break, trials leading in have been great and despite wet weather earlier this week, hopefully the track dries out and she can resume with a much deserved Group l triumph.
Great to see 2 Zaaki (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) back at the races. He resumes, having not raced since the Doomben Cup when failing to fire after sitting on speed. Jury is out on him as to whether he can match it with the new brigade, but his trial last week was very good and Jamie Kah does ride the horse very well. He’s the key and I dare say only threat.
3 Mo’Unga (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) could have easily gone to stud but credit to connections, they are keeping him in work in search of a big race win. I think there is intent to run a beauty fresh here given he’s had two trials to get ready for the return and the latest trial, he was ridden right out to lead all the way and win. He has run well in this race previously and see no reason why he won’t again.
Race 9. (16:20) Silver Shadow Stks 1200m
7 Zardozi… (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) following me either here or Twitter and you’ll know how much I love this girl. I think she is a Group l winner in waiting. She resumes for James Cummings after winning 3/3 to start her career towards the end of the Autumn, the last two coming at Hawkesbury, each time winning comfortably and looking like a filly that will improve with a spell. She has done that to my eye off the trials…she’s ready to rock and roll and stamp herself as the best 3YO filly in the country.
8 Taormina (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a GaiBott filly that has race fitness on her side and a good racing pattern. 2/2 to start her career, the latest coming several weeks ago over 1200m at Rosehill when leading throughout and showing good ticker late to fend them off and win. Tick over trial was strong and with a jump/run style, the 1200m here is ideal. Hard to beat.
5 Kimochi (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Gary Portelli trained filly that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since the Percy Sykes when seemingly having every chance but struggled to put them away on the testing track behind Kristilli. Her trials leading in have been super to my eye and despite drawing tricky, I think she has to be respected.
Race 10. (16:55) Acy Securities (Bm78) 1200m
7 Time To Boogie (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and prove hard to run down. Dominant winner here two back before going to Rosehill a fortnight back where he sat outside Brudenell and tried his guts out to get the win but just couldn’t quite get there in a blanket finish. Back to Randwick, a more positive ride, hopefully leading, she’ll take running down.
3 Pacific Ruby (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) commands respect for Maher/Eustace. She brings fresh legs into this, having not raced sine July 1 over 1400m at Flemington where she seemingly had every chance from behind the speed but couldn’t finish the race off behind the in form Seonee. Fresh legs back to 1200m, she gets a set up to take beating.
13 Tintookie (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has been somewhat frustrating to follow but she does have the talent under the hood to measure up. She is three weeks between runs since racing over 1100m here when never really clear at any stage and it ended up being a somewhat ugly watch behind a nice horse, Mogo Magic. Has a gate to do no work in the run and is good enough to threaten.
