The two day Oakbank Carnival gets underway this Satruday with Railway Stakes Day. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

9 Pamiers (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been strong in two career outings and is hard to beat I say for Stuart Padman. He was a real eye catcher here on debut before going to Balaklava when ridden with more intent and tried hard but just couldn’t quite get there when third. Hard fit now, he knows what the caper is about, he appeals.

5 Dapper Don (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an interesting runner. Formerly with Kennewell/Yeomans, he now finds himself with Clarken/O’Shea. He didn’t really fire in two career runs for the Victorian stable so is now with a stable who are very good with tried horses. Watch betting.

12 Somewhere Soon (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an Andrew Gluyas trained filly that resumes. This daughter of Impending hasn’t raced since Dec 4 at Balaklava when an odds on pop but she got back and spotted them too much head start. Given a good break and her recent jumpout win was sharp so watch the market and see what it does.

5 Up The Den (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a horse who I think has an engine under the hood. He has been kept on ice since a maiden win at Oakbank on Feb 13 when looking a good thing on paper and duly saluted in good style. He had a tick over trial and jumpout and moved quite well I thought. Think he can measure up.

4 Mesrour (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is capable with his best. He ran down the track at Morphettville three weeks back. He got back to near last in the run and was good late without threatening behind Out Of Square. More genuine tempo here, he should get good cover, a drag into the race and launch late.

6 Palm Of Jumeriah (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Phillip Stokes since racing over this trip at Morphettville when off speed and kept finding the line but I did think she had her chance behind Out Of Square. Think she only has to hold her form to be around the mark.

2 Tahnee Treasure (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a talented mare for Peter Hardacre that resumes. She is first up, having not raced since Feb 15 at Morphettville Parks when back and wide but got presented clear air and launched late, just missing out on the win when second to Texan Windstorm. She does have residual fitness and first up at 1400m signals intent.

1 Alpine Flyer (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Michael Hickmott trained mare that is first up and has class on her side. Her last run was the Murray Bridge Cup in the Spring when placing over the mile behind stbalemate Maracourt. She is a mare who can sprint well fresh and has trialled well.

4 Jilladora (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes here for Justin Picekring off the back of a win over 1400m at Morphettville Parks two weeks back when off speed and finished best in a driving go to score. She has been pretty good post a freshen up and commands respect.

8 Hysterical Lady (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Team Blanch trained filly that comes to metro level off the back of a maiden win at Strathalbyn where she gave them a start and a beating, letting down with purpose late to win well. This isn’t a deep 3YO race this and she is a filly on the up so keen to see how she goes.

1 Bouncing Beyond (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is four weeks between runs since racing over 1250m at Morphettville Parks when off speed and kept chasing without threatening in a pretty good effort in defeat behind Ad Astra. Racing like 1400m suits and she is in the mix for mine.

4 Teardrop Rotation (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Chris Bieg trained filly that resumes. She is first up, having not raced since Jan 25 when winning at Morphettville, getting the suck run in behind and finishing best to score. First up at 1400m signals some form of intent so watch betting.

2 I Need A Drink (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes through the Sir Kingsford race from two weeks back at Morphettville Parks. He was near the speed throughout and he tried hard but just lacked the class to go with them late. Back to this level, hard to beat if there is petrol left in the tank.

8 Turned Loose (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate a rise in trip for Team Jaensch after resuming over 1550m at Morphettville Parks when just finding them a bit sharp but was far from disgraced in defeat behind Serinite Illusion. Better set up here and has good upside to come.

9 Doctor Robert (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a threat with his best. Gave them a start and a beating to win two back at Port Lincoln before going here when off speed and took a while to get into his work but was good late when balanced up. Not a deep race this so he has to be respected.

7 Dual Fuel (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps back up in trip for Peter Hardacre after placing over 1950m behind Sir Kingsford a fortnight back at Morphettville Parks, saving ground nearer the inside and drove hard late, closing with purpose. The rise back up in trip suits and strikes a winnable race.

3 Sir Kingsford (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has upside/improvement and with a good racing style, he’ll take beating against these. He was on speed and dominant two weeks ago at Morphettville Parks, giving nothing else a look in and was impressive. Good racing style, he takes beating.

5 Motorace (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran third to Sir Kingsford two weeks back. He got into a decent spot near the speed and he tried his guts out but just couldn’t quite finish the job. That said, he stayed on and was sound in defeat. Trip is fine and was only third up so he has upside/improvement to come.

6 Easy Campese (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was a game second in this race last year and looks to be on track to run well in it again. He resumed on Mount Gambier Cup Day and worked home with purpose late in the piece when second to a nice horse, Chipson. Fitter and up to 1400m, he appeals.

4 Favourite Child (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Clarken/O’Shea since resuming in the Matrice when back near last in the run and while she was never a winning threat, she did close off and was pretty good in defeat I thought behind Aviatress. If she can settle closer, she takes beating.

3 Wolfburn (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. Formerly with Gary Clarke, he now finds himself with Jake Stephens. He has been a star in Darwin in recent times but he has been more than capable on the turf and did look strong in a recent trial so watch betting.

7 Metro Legend (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks to be humming for Bain/Taylor and is a knockout hope. He resumes, having not raced since Jan 18 at Murray Bridge when placing behind Hallstatt. He rises big time in grade/depth here but his trial/jumpout work has been quite sharp and his best is good enough to threaten.

1 Taunting (Bet Now:  $SP.00) won this race two years ago and looks to be on track to win it again. Strong winner two back in the City Of Marion before going to the Manihi on Adelaide Cup Day when on speed and fought on really well in defeat I thought behind Sir Sway. Short course specialist that is suited here.

4 Pure Bliss (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs for Clarken/O’Shea, having not raced since the Manihi on Adelaide Cup Day when wide no cover throughout and just couldn’t quite get involved behind Sir Sway. Tick over jumpout last week was quite good and her best is clearly good enough to take this out.

2 Been Our Angel (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and take beating, as seen two weeks ago at Morphettville Parks when leading and giving a strong kick from the front but just couldn’t quite see it through, nabbed late by Sir Now. Good racing style, hard fit and racing well.

7 Geminga (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. She ran behind Vexatious Dancer a fortnight back where she got off speed and worked home with real purpose late in the piece when a close up third. If she can settle closer, she takes beating.

1 Classy Kenny (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has won at the track/distance previously and is capable with his best. He resumed over 1000m at Morphettville Parks two weeks back where he just looked in need of the run but was far from disgraced in defeat I thought behind Vexatious Dancer. Better set up here. his best is good enough to threaten.
