Race One (12:08pm) : Schweppes Handicap 2400m: Form Guide
Back Me: Keen here on Doctor Care (Best Odds: $3.80). He worked home strongly two back at the Valley when second to Word Of Mouth before going to the 1950m here two weeks back and showing great fight to hold on and grab victory. He was due to run last weekend in the Banjo Patterson Final at Flemington, but instead has been saved for this race. Looks as though he’ll handle the trip and should prove hard to beat.
Big Danger: Flying Casino (Best Odds: $1.90) ran over 2500m last time out at Morphettville and was desperately unlucky when second to Red Fella. He just got way too far back from a wide gate and was set an impossible task. He has held his good form for a while now, so the query is that he will drop off sooner rather than later, but for now, he has to go in as the main threat.
Roughie: I didn’t mind King Cadel (Best Odds: $21.00) at odds last weekend at Gawler, and on the turn, it looked just a case of how far, but he couldn’t finish it off in the straight and in the end, he was comfortably held by another Darren Weir runner, Sir Laszlo. I think he will be better on slightly firmer footing here, and we know he will be strong at the end of 2400m.

Race Two (12:43pm) : Hughes Chauffeured Limousines Handicap 1400m: Form Guide
Back Me: Jacksay (Best Odds: $4.00) for me here. Ran last Saturday at Gawler and though he didn’t look 100% happy in the going he powered home late over the final 75m to grab victory. That was his first run in a month, so I think the seven day back up will be no issue, in the right stable and looks really well suited by the rise to 1400m.
Big Danger: Robertson Quay (Best Odds: $6.00) is a Hayes/Dabernig youngster that debuted at Echuca just under three weeks back and was well supported to get the job done but bumped into a smart type in Just One Moment, who franked the form by running very well in a strong two year old race last Sunday at the Bool. Looks to have enormous upside, and the trial before then was excellent.
Roughie: Hazy Lane (Best Odds: $17.00) ran over 1300m here a couple of weeks back and attempted to lead all the way, but felt the pinch late when running fourth to Royal Rumble, beaten just under four lengths. That horse ran at Flemington last Saturday and ran an absolute beauty when fifth. Lead looks Hazy Lane’s again, and though rising to 1400m, the lead should be soft and if a cheap sectional can be get, this horse can improve.

Race Three (1:18pm) : William Hill Handicap (70) 1950m: Form Guide
Back Me: Looks to be a bit of depth here. I really like the local galloper Maryore (Best Odds: $2.90) here. This filly has won her last three, including a dominant win three weeks back at Morphettville over 1800m when charging home from last to win with ease. 1950m should be no issue, and fillies/mares that are in winning form, generally hold it, and she fits that criteria.
Big Danger: Tip Rat (Best Odds: $6.50) was unwanted in betting when resuming over 1500m at Morphettville a couple of weeks back, but he had the nice run just behind the speed, and when presented, he just bolted home. Admittedly the field didn’t have great depth, but you had to be impressed by his desire and want for the win. Guymer sticks, and though drawn awkwardly, he should be right in contention.
Roughie: I put Zahspeed (Best Odds: $5.00) on the banned list after his second up run, where he was simply terrible, but he ran the following Saturday at Caulfield and was much better I thought when running sixth to Volcanic Ash, beaten four lengths. Raposo ran fourth in that race, then came out and won the Silver Bowl at Flemington. He’ll be on speed, and that is the spot to be on this track.

Race Four (1:57pm) : Evright Handicap (72) 1250m: Form Guide
Back Me: Counter Spin (Best Odds: $5.00) resumes here for the Macdonald/Gluyas yard after a solid Spring/Summer prep. He does have a bit of class on his side, he ran alright first up last time in, and despite no trials to prepare for his return to racing, he is very good when right and is a definite winning chance, especially if there is speed on, which there should be.
Big Danger: Molly The Snip (Best Odds: $11.00) is a consistent type that is never too far away from the action. She had a tough run last time out at Balaklava yet stuck to the task pretty gamely to eventually run third to Red Begonia, beaten 1.6L. Senior rider up now, and though drawn wide, she has gate speed, so she should press forward and give a bold sight.
Roughie: Another that will be up on speed is Chondra (Best Odds: $13.00) . She ran over 1500m at Morphettville last time out and attempted to lead all the way, but she couldn’t quite run the trip out and had to settle for fourth to Tip Rat, beaten just over three lengths. Back to 1250m is ideal, she has early pace and her record at this track is pretty solid.

Race Five (2:37pm) : Flair Curtains & Blinds Handicap (70) 1250m: Form Guide
Back Me: Good little three year old race here. I’m keen here on Edit (Best Odds: $21.00) to get the job done. He was the real eye catcher when resuming over 1000m here a couple of weeks back when coming from near last to run sixth to I’m A Flying Star, beaten just a tick over three lengths. Only benefited with added fitness and extra distance, so I’ll go with him here.
Big Danger: Matagami (Best Odds: $12.00) had the best run you could ever ask for last time out at Casterton from John Allen and the Darren Weir runner proved far too good for his rivals. He did have a little run of outs prior to that, so it was good to see him get the win, and that could well be the confidence boost he needed to go right on with it now.
Roughie: Turf Crusher (Best Odds: $4.20) returns to Adelaide after a very disappointing first up run at Flemington behind Husson Eagle. In the Spring, he was very impressive in winning over 1300m here before going to a strong three year old race on Cox Plate Day. Soft gate, best rider aboard…he can sharply improve here in a thin race.

Race Six (3:17pm) : Medallion Homes Handicap (82) 1400m: Form Guide
Back Me: Duckworth (Best Odds: $11.00) bounced back to his best form with a dominant display over 1300m here a couple of weeks back, charging home from off the speed and unwinding a powerful finishing burst. He seems to have a real liking for the Parks circuit, and though taking on the older horses, he looks one of the hardest to beat.
Big Danger: Marco Polo (Best Odds: $15.00) also ran over this track/distance and produced a similar to finish to that off Duckworth, sitting off the speed before letting down strongly late to win and win comfortably. Neilson takes the ride, draws well and is another that loves the Parks track.
Roughie: Saturday Affair (Best Odds: $9.50) is on the quick back up after racing last Saturday at Gawler, where he simply was too far back from the wide gate and set up an impossible margin to draw in. Another that loves racing on this track, down in the weights and will be strong late.

Race Seven (3:57pm) : Irish Race Day 29th August Handicap (75) 1000m: Form Guide
Back Me: Jennyfromtheblock (Best Odds: $7.50) was very good in defeat I thought last start when fourth to Ready Sunshine given she did a power of work on speed from the wide gate and only tired the last 75m. Better barrier here, so she won’t have to do as much work for the lead, and this track does suit leaders.
Big Danger: Ready Sunshine (Best Odds: $6.00) appreciated the fast tempo set by the top tip in that race and charged home out wide to grab victory in the last few strides. Barrier 15 and apprentice on, so perhaps they are the negatives, but the speed will be strong again, and she will be charging late.
Roughie: Alabama Missile (Best Odds: $8.00) enjoyed the nice sit in the same race and did hit the lead in the straight, but was swamped late by Ready Sunshine. She again draws to get the nice sit just off a hot speed, so she’s definitely a winning chance.

Race Eight (4:33pm) : Drink Driving? GROW UP Handicap (68) 1400m: Form Guide
Back Me: Going with Onehundredclicks (Best Odds: $14.00) in the last here. He scored a dominant win two back at Balaklava before coming here and attempting to lead all the way, but just felt the pinch late and had to settle for fourth to Marco Polo. Lead looks his again and he should be there for a long way.
Big Danger: Tangier Sun (Best Odds: $5.00) ran in that same race mentioned above, and on face value he was disappointing when seventh, but he was later found to have pulled up lame, so there were excuses. He has promised to win this prep, but hasn’t, so he is becoming costly, but this does look a good race for him to bounce back.
Roughie: Alysiana (Best Odds: $11.00) is a former Victorian who has now had a couple of runs for Phillip Stokes, including a solid second at Morphettville behind impressive winner Star Recruit. Back to 1400m should suit this horse and is a definite chance in an open race.
