18/4/2026 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Ascot, The Quokka day

Ten races will be run and won at Ascot on Saturday, headlined by The Quokka (1200m). The weather is fine, the track is soft (5) and the rail is out five metres for the entire circuit.

4 Rainline (Bet Now: $7.50) on top for me. Team Pearce trained mare that resumes, having not raced since Nov 15 over 1400m here when down the track behind Fast Harry, looking a tired horse and just whacked late. Trialled up well and strikes a winnable race.

6 Rise To Glory (Bet Now: $4.80) steps up to 1200m after racing over 1100m here on April 1 where he got a fair way out of his ground but worked home with real purpose I thought. Back up in trip suits, he’s a key threat.

5 Cobbanco (Bet Now: $8.00) steps up to 1200m after resuming over 1000m here two weeks back where he was off speed and just whacked late. Better for the run and rising in trip, he’s an improver at odds.

1 Snitzalatte (Bet Now: $1.85) comes here after an impressive first up win over 1000m at the midweeks, driving hard from off speed and finished best to score. She commands respect with good upside to come and the quality she has.

2 Swingman (Bet Now: $2.70) ran second to Snitzalatte over this track/distance last start. He was on speed and tried hard but had no answers late. Good racing style, he should be around the mark against this lot.

5 Door Buster (Bet Now: $14.00) should be better for the first up run, which came over this trip at Belmont when just off speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite finish the job when third to Acorn. Better for the run, kind map, a knockout hope.

5 Westbound (Bet Now: $1.95) looks one of the better bets on the card. He was quite good when resuming two weeks ago at this track/distance, getting a fair way back but worked home with real purpose. Better for the run, can settle closer and will launch over the top.

2 Desert Waves (Bet Now: $2.90) won a fortnight back at this track/distance, leading throughout and credit to him, he was there to be beaten but he found under pressure to fend them off and score. Good racing style, he’ll acquit himself well once again.

6 Superfluous (Bet Now: $15.00) is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday over 1200m here when back near last in the run and was solid late without threatening. If within range, he has the finale to be a threat at odds.

4 Holler Nuff (Bet Now: $2.35) was an impressive winner over the mile here a fortnight back. The win had good merit to it given he was 1200m to the mile and taking on older horses. Heading in the right direction and is one of the hardest to beat.

6 More Than Enuff (Bet Now: $35.00) is in the mix after two runs back, the latest over the mile two weeks back when off speed and was solid late without threatening behind Holler Nuff. Doubt he turns the tables but runs well.

2 Bird’s The Word (Bet Now: $6.00) was specked at odds when racing at this track/distance on April 1. He was honest and tried hard but couldn’t quite finish the job. He’s racing really well and should be a threat at odds.

11 Rock N The Jam (Bet Now: $2.25) is knocking on the door to win a race and I think she has found that race here. She has hit the line strongly in her two runs this preparation where she was heavily backed in both. Drawn to get the run of the race and strips fitter. Hard to beat.

10 Antique Star (Bet Now: $4.50) is fourth up from a spell and should be at peak fitness. She ran over 1400m at Bunbury a few weeks ago when off speed and seemingly had her chance behind Avoidance before a solid effort here behind King Hit when third. Hard fit now and with that mile run under the belt, she’s a leading contender.

4 Investmentstrategy (Bet Now: $35.00) has been kept on the fresh side since resuming at Bunbury on March 7. He just looked in need of the run but was far from disgraced. More positive ride, he’s dangerous at odds.

10 Dancewithme (Bet Now: $4.60) comes back to 1000m after racing over 1200m at Pinjarra. She got a fair way back off speed but worked home pretty well in defeat. Fast run 1000m, she’ll sit back and launch late.

2 Kings Court (Bet Now: $4.50) is just over two weeks between runs since a track/distance win when on speed and he found plenty under pressure to fend them off and score. He’s a hard fit, in form galloper and will take running down.

1 Military Power (Bet Now: $31.00) comes back to 1000m after racing over 1200m here several weeks back when near the speed and tried hard but just felt the pinch. Not sure she can win but I think she’s a must for exotics.

I really like 1 Beatty (Bet Now: $4.50) here. I don’t think he was ready re fitness in the Perth Stakes but class came to the fore when it mattered and he drove hard to finish best. He has got more upside than just about any other runner, he maps perfect and gets W Pike aboard.

7 Aurum Belle (Bet Now: $3.00), in terms of times, is the top seed given her Gimcrack time was a second quicker than that of Beatty. She did it from the front and gave nothing else a look in. Drawn wide but will press forward and take running down. Last 100m will be the test.

15 Lady Torque (Bet Now: $16.00) looks the Sires horse. She was a real eye catcher in the Gimcrack, getting a mile out of her ground but really liked the way she closed her race off. Likely spots them a start but will be strong late and is a knockout hope.

3 Rey Magnerio (Bet Now: $4.60) looks the one to beat for mine. He hasn’t raced since the William Reid where he was far from disgraced in defeat given the way the track played behind Jigsaw. Looks to land in a plum spot off the hot speed and will be effective late.

1 Jigsaw (Bet Now: $4.00) has to be given serious respect. His last 6-12 months has really been something else, graduating to now being a multiple Group l winner, notably last start in the William Reid. Drawn wide but will press forward and take beating.

The gate is tricky for 6 Rope Them In (Bet Now: $17.00) but if they go silly in front, look for him to launch late. He gave them a start and a beating to win the Roma Cup, finishing best from off speed. He should get three wide cover and be strong at the end.

I like 3 Repossession (Bet Now: $2.50). He was dragged back from the wide gate in the Roma Cup and while he was never a winning threat, you had to like the way he finished his race off in defeat. 1200m should be fine, maps to settle much closer and be effective late. Hard to beat.

11 Petula (Bet Now: $5.50) is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday in the Marjorie Charleson. She got back off speed and worked to the line well enough in defeat behind London’s Image. If she can get a more positive ride, she’s dangerous.

9 Wineaclocksumwhere (Bet Now: $17.00) is heading in the right direction for Samantha Faithfull. He resumed with a bang over 1230m at Albury when leading throughout, got total control and gave nothing else a look in. Good test here but think he can measure up.

13 Wheely (Bet Now: $5.50) is one of the hardest to beat. He comes back to 1200m after racing over 1400m two weeks ago here. He got off speed and worked home pretty well late in the piece. He will be strong late. Just depends what start he concedes.

2 Horcrux (Bet Now: $2.90) is a couple of weeks between runs since a track/distance placing. He landed in a decent spot in transit and tried hard but just couldn’t quite get there when second to Sisu Warrior. Racing well and commands respect.

8 Missile Storm (Bet Now: $151.00) was far from disgraced at this track/distance on April 1. He got off speed and was solid late without threatening. Not sure he is good enough to win but he could run first four.

BEST BET: Race Three Number 5 Westbound

NEXT BEST: Race Two Number 1 Snitzalatte

LONG SHOT: Race Nine Number 3 Repossession
