Race 1. (15:54) Magic Millions Plate 1000m
7 Farnova (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the way I am leaning. This filly trialled last week over 400m and won. I hate using those short trials as a guide, but she did appear to move well and the stable can get their juveniles to fire, so in a tricky race, I am leaning her way.
8 Perfume Princess (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Kings Legacy filly that debuts for Simon Miller. She trialled over 1000m at Belmont Monday when placing but did appear to move quite nicely. Stable is flying and she has ability so watch betting.
4 Wild West (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has had a couple of trials under the belt for the debut and bears watching. The latest trial was at Lark Hill on Monday and placed in a good piece of work. I’d say watch betting and see what it does.
Race 2. (16:29) Celebration Of Life Day Trophy (Bm84+) 1500m
4 Noteworthy (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the one to beat I think. I want to be forgiving of her effort in the La Trice. The race shape was against her but she kept finding the line and was a definite pass mark in defeat. Back to 1500m, hopefully a more genuine tempo, she appeals.
2 Without Reg (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes through the Mandurah Cup from two weeks ago, getting front end control and he gave nothing else a look in late to win well. Good racing style, he’ll take beating against these.
1 Bruce Almighty (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) ran second to Without Reg in the Mandurah Cup. The pair were 1-2 in the run and fought the finish out, with the latter proving too good. Lands on speed again and should be dangerous.
Race 3. (17:09) Mca Polytrack (Bm72+) 1800m
6 Our Paladin Al (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is racing very well at the moment and is hard to beat here after a runner up effort on New Years Day over the mile here. I thought he gave himself every chance, with nitpicking being that he was a touch keen, but I am not using that as an excuse. He tried hard but just couldn’t quite get there. Very genuine animal that takes beating against these.
4 Sowar (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes back to 1800m after a win over 2100m at Geraldton last start, sitting on speed and was trucking before being clicked up and away he went to win and win well. Proven metro performer, he appeals.
8 Atlantis Beach (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is in with a shout. He ran over the mile on New Years Day here where he was back near last in an on pace domination and was never really a factor. But, he did clock good late splits so rising to 1800m suits. Just wants a more genuine tempo.
Race 4. (17:50) Swan Draught Plate 1200m
1 Playin’It Sweet (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) was off a mini break when racing at this track/distance on New Years Day. She led and gave a decent sight but couldn’t quite see it through when second to Prospectors Pick. Better for the run, back to her own age, she takes beating.
2 Our Naughty Secret (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) steps up to 1200m after racing over 1000m on New Years Day where she got back and wide, and was never really a factor. Better set up here, she’s good enough to threaten.
5 Bassett Hound (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Wootten Bassett gelding that is on debut for Mitch Pateman. He has had solid trial work under the belt to get ready for start one and to my eye has moved well, so I say watch betting and see what eventuates.
Race 5. (18:29) Tabtouch - Westspeed Platinum (Rs0ly) 1400m
5 Desert Dancing (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is flying for Rob Gulberti. She ran over 1200m here on New Years Day where she got back to near last in the run and while she was never threatening, she did close off quite well late. If within range, she has the finale to take this out.
4 Helluva Goddess (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) ran third over 1200m here on New Years Day. She got into a reasonable spot in transit just off speed before angling clear and tried hard but just couldn’t quite finish the job when third. 1400m is the query but she’s lightly raced and heading in the right direction.
1 Street Band (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should be at peak fitness. He ran over 1200m on New Years Day in a solid benchmark race and was far from disgraced in defeat behind Prospector’s Pick. Like him up to 1400m and his best is good enough.
Race 6. (19:00) Bisley Workwear (Bm66+) 1200m
3 Fancy Red (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has class on her side and I’ll bank on that class getting her home. She hasn’t raced since July 26 when placing in the Belmont Classic behind Arcadia Park. Like her fresh at 1200m because she does have a touch of brilliance about her and her trial was strong.
1 Supernatural (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a beauty for Adam Durrant that comes here off the back of a win in the Fitzpatrick Plate at Albany, giving them a start and a beating in a very impressive effort. Good record at Ascot, very genuine, she’s a key threat.
2 Sonoftheboss (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday over 1000m here. He was beaten for early speed, settling off the fast pace. He took a little while to wind up but was pretty good late behind Amaroo Star. 1200m is a query but I reckon last start showed they can ride him with a sit and he can be effective late.
Race 7. (19:30) Drummond Golf (Bm66+) 1500m
3 Soldanelle (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a hit and miss mare but when she is on, she goes pretty good. Gave them a start and a beating to win here five weeks ago, noteworthy with Pike aboard, and he sticks with her for this. I say she’s top seed.
4 Bold Hero (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) steps up to 1500m after a first up effort over 1400m here on New Years Day behind Cashel Palace. That was his first run since March so he has good upside/improvement to come and had trialled well prior so he’s a key chance I say.
1 Snazzler (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing over 1400m last Saturday here. He got back off speed and while he was never threatening, he kept chasing and wasn’t too bad in defeat behind Silver Eye. Good upside to come and up in trip, he’s a first four threat.
Race 8. (20:00) Reliable Asset Maintenance (Rs1mw) 1800m
1 Territory Man (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should take beating up to 1800m after a second over the mile here on New Years Day, closing off with real purpose late when runner up behind Belta Of A Song. Racing like a rise in trip will suit and strikes a winnable race.
6 Invincible Thief (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is racing really well at the moment for David Harrison and is a key threat I say. Big win here two back over 2200m after sitting wide no cover. She then came back to the mile at Geraldton and was good late, just finding them a touch sharp, but stayed on and was far from disgraced. Like her back up in trip, she’s in the mix.
4 Secrecy (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1800m. He ran last Wednesday over 1690m at Bunbury. He got into a decent spot in transit just off speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite wind up quick enough and whacked late. Not sure he is good enough to win but is a must for exotics.
Race 9. (20:30) Peters Investments (Rs1mw) 1000m
6 Twisted Steel (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks the winner if he’s ready to go. He hasn’t raced since the Placid Ark when four wide the trip and the hard run just told late in the piece. No public trials but he has class/quality on his side and I’ll bank on that getting him home.
5 Niccimota (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came on New Years Day at this track/distance. She got into a decent spot off speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite get there behind Amaroo Star. That form has been franked, fitter, she appeals.
10 Run Pattie Run (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has been given a freshen up since a win at Bunbury on Dec 7 over 1200m, giving them a start and a beating in an impressive effort. Likely spots them a start but should be strong at the end.
