A bumper ten event card has been set down for Scone this Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out three metres from the 1000m-400m; True for the remainder.

Race 1. (11:05) Midway Handicap (72) 1700m
6 Viewpoint (Bet Now: $4.60) can bounce back for Nacil Dilmi. Not sure it was the best steer from Nash in the Midway two weeks ago at Hawkesbury, going back inside where it was clearly quicksand, and couldn’t pick up late in the piece. He can bounce back hard here because his best is clearly good enough.
7 Strawberry Impact (Bet Now: $11.00) was a forgive from the Midway at Hawkesbury I thought. Just got a bit too far back in the run and didn’t get the clearest of paths in the straight. Prior efforts were sound and good enough to take this out.
8 Allegro Miss (Bet Now: $18.00) wasn’t bad behind Bella Khadijah in the Midway at Hawkesbury. She got back in the run and while she was never a winning threat, she kept chasing and finding the line in defeat. Like her up in trip, good upside to come, dangerous.
Race 2. (11:40) TAB Highway Handicap (Class 3) 1600m
12 Xcessive Force (Bet Now: $8.50) race wide without cover last time out at Randwick but still battled on well to not get beaten far. She is drawn to get the run of the race in this and this is a very similar quality field that she will meet. She will camp behind the leaders and should be able to finish off over the top of them late. Looks a good each way bet.
2 Autumn King (Bet Now: $2.30) looks to be one of the horses in the race with the most upside and the stable seem to have bigger and better plans than this so he would wan’t to be winning to live up to those ambitions. He will get back in the run and be the horse finishing hard late but will need a decent tempo to win.
9 Like Lukey (Bet Now: $51.00) steps up to the mile after resuming over 1200m at Dubbo where she just found them a bit sharp but was far from disgraced in defeat I thought. Has a gate to settle much closer and be effective late. Knockout hope.
Race 3. (12:15) Woodlands Stakes 1100m
4 Tigroni (Bet Now: $9.50) looks here to play. Did nice things during the Summer and the form around her reads very well. Quiet first trial but the recent trial, she led throughout, was ridden out and was strong to the line. Clear set up to try and get the Stakes/Maiden win first up and I am surprised she is not a clear favourite.
3 Moscatel (Bet Now: $2.40) should jump on the bunny and take running down, as seen on debut on the Kenso, leading throughout and she gave nothing else a look in to win and win well. Extra 100m is fine, should lead again and take a power of beating.
5 Better Off Alone (Bet Now: $27.00) has got the win on the board and she can go on with it, with the win coming during the Wagga Carnival where she was too good for them after getting into a sticky spot at one stage. Nice horse, good racing style, she’s around the mark.
Race 4. (12:50) Kia Ora Handicap (72) 1300m
Like 9 Maybe Moet (Bet Now: $13.00) for Chris Waller. She has been freshened up, her last run coming on March 18 at Wyong when off speed and tried to make a sustained run against the pattern but just felt the pinch late. Tick over trial was good, should get a good drag into the race and launch late.
11 Nitro (Bet Now: $3.10) is a nice three year old for Peter Snowden that resumes. He did good things when last in work, the latest run seeing him push stablemate Plaintiff hard to the line. That reads very well for this and loved the way he has trialled for the return.
1 Duvana (Bet Now: $12.00) comes into the race first up which is a bit of a concern as his first up form isn’t crash hot. He however draws barrier run so will get a cushy run throughout and if he can get a bit of luck around the turn and get a passage through the field I think he could be winning at a double figure price.
Race 5. (13:25) Magic Millions Handicap (78) 1700m
8 Sounds Unusual (Bet Now: $13.00) looks to have returned in super order and should eat up 1700m after resuming over 1550m on the Kenso, getting a fair way off speed but really liked the way he finished his race off in defeat. Fitter, 1700m, bigger track…think it points to him.
4 Man Of Worth (Bet Now: $3.60) looks a nice horse on the up for Chris Waller. He comes here off the back of a win at the midweeks at Canterbury, settling just off speed before being given clear air and away he went to win and win well. Tick over trial was sharp and the rise to 1700m is ideal. Takes beating.
9 Tavros (Bet Now: $11.00) I thought ran well in the Tamworth Big Dance qualifier where he got back and hit the run well late. He will appreciate the step up in distance in this and if he can get some luck from the barrier he will be running home strong and could get over the top of the more fancied runners.
Race 6. (14:00) Scone Equine Handicap (78) 1100m
7 Call Me Gorgeous (Bet Now: $3.10) is hard to beat for David Pfieffer. Just got a bit too far back a few weeks ago at Randwick but didn’t mind the way he kept chasing in defeat behind Midnight Dynamite. Fitter, can settle closer in the run and be effective late.
12 Hay Street (Bet Now: $4.00) looks suited up to 1100m. He came back to 1000m two weeks ago at Randwick and kept chasing but he just found Compensation a bit sharp in defeat. Like him back up in trip and fitter, he appeals.
8 Confess Our Dreams (Bet Now: $61.00) is three weeks between runs since resuming over 1000m at Randwick where she got a fair way out of her ground but was good late in the piece without threatening. Maps to settle closer and be effective late.
Race 7. (14:35) Denise's Joy Stakes 1100m
6 La Basilique (Bet Now: $19.00) is a Chris Waller trained filly that has earned a crack at Stakes grade. She is 2/2 this time in, the latest seeing her give her rivals a start and a beating in such an impressive performance. Good test here but confident she can measure up.
2 Akaysha (Bet Now: $7.00) is three weeks between runs since a win in the Mick Dittman where she was trucking in behind before angling clear and knuckled down with purpose to score. Takes on the Mares but she’s a short course type and clearly appeals.
14 Casserouse (Bet Now: $15.00) is a nice filly for Joe Pride and Godolphin and the latter love to target this race. She was off a mini break when racing on the Kenso last start, leading and giving a strong kick, but had no answers for the finale of La Basilique. Fitter, and I think with a more patient steer, she can bounce back.
Race 8. (15:10) Ortensia Stakes 1100m
15 Golden Straand (Bet Now: $2.90) looks the horse on the up and I’ll take a punt on him measuring up. Not sure he beat much at Hawkesbury two weeks ago but the manner in which he put them away was quite impressive. Drawn wide, but just one turn and usually the track suits those out wide come this time of the day.
2 The Instructor (Bet Now: $9.00) will land on the bunny and take running down. He did some pretty good things when last in work and even tested himself at the elite level. Looks to have trialled nicely, should press forward and run a beauty.
1 King Of Sparta (Bet Now: $34.00) has class and it is going to carry him a long way. He resumes for Peter Snowden, having not raced since the 2024 Russell Balding when far from disgraced behind Bella Nipotina. Has clearly had his issues but his trial work this time in has been quite good so keen to see how he goes.
Race 9. (15:50) Dark Jewel Classic 1400m
9 Surfin Bird (Bet Now: $2.50) should take a power of beating here. She resumed in the Hawkesbury Crown and tried her guts out from near the speed but just couldn’t quite get there in a close finish when beaten a lip by the race fit Chidiac. Good racing style, good upside, she appeals.
14 Imposant (Bet Now: $31.00) ran second to Lord Of Biscay in the Provincial Championships Final. She was back near last in the run but sliced her way through to clear air and worked home strongly behind the stablemate. Form reads well. Just needs luck from the gate.
2 Chica Mojito (Bet Now: $61.00) was very good in the Hawkesbury Crown I thought. Drew gate one, was in the quicksand yet despite that, she kept chasing and was a big pass mark behind Chidiac. Fitter, bigger track, she’s very dangerous here.
Race 10. (16:30) Luskin Star Stakes 1300m
1 Estadio Mestalla (Bet Now: $17.00) should love getting to 1300m. He resumed over 1100m in the Hawkesbury Gold Rush where he got back in the run and although he was never a winning threat, I really liked the way he kept chasing. He’ll love getting to 1300m, can settle on speed and be hard to get past.
13 Captain Furai (Bet Now: $7.00) is in a real purple patch for Chris Waller and has earned a crack at this kind of race. He has won his past two, the latest at Randwick when getting the dream run but he had to dig in when required and finished best. Good test here but think he can measure up.
10 Gallant Star (Bet Now: $34.00) should be better for the first up run behind Signor Tortoni. He got off speed and kept chasing but was never really threatening. Might need another run but he’s a tough bugger who will keep chipping away.
