A nine race program has been set down for Ascot this Saturday where it is Miss Andretti Stakes Day. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out five metres for the entire circuit.
Miss Andretti Stakes 🏆: View the Field and Odds for the Miss Andretti Stakes
Race 1. (15:43) Tabtouch Maiden 1100m
The less time spent on this race the better because this is the worst metro maiden I’ve ever come across. 7 Molly Magee (Bet Now: $4.20) has less convictions than most and wasn’t too bad fresh at Pinjarra when hard in the market. Should land near the front and prove hard to beat…but no confidence.
2 Ginger Knight (Bet Now: $3.00) is race fit and racing in okay form at the moment. Solid two back here behind Wilchino, who won last Saturday here to frank the form. Ginger Knight then went to Pinjarra when on speed and fighting on okay when third. Will prove hard to beat on form.
3 Magic’s Heritage (Bet Now: $4.80) is a son of Heritage that resumes. Most of his runs in his first prep came in town and for the most part, was pretty ordinary, but he contested much stronger races than this, so resuming without a trial, will be interesting to see how it goes.
Race 2. (16:23) Own The Dream 2021 Launch Plate 1100m
Think they are going to have to be pretty good to knock off 7 Amelia’s Chant (Bet Now: $2.60) I think. Looks a smart filly for Simon Miller that is on debut and has been quite impressive at the trials, the latest seeing her lead throughout and bolt up. Pike on, soft draw…looks the one to beat.
4 Talkaboutyou (Bet Now: $2.80) is a Martin Allan trained colt that is on debut. He comes here off the back of a sharp trial win over 1000m at Belmont where he ran good time relative to the meeting. Tricky draw, but Parnham rides and has early toe to potentially take care of the gate.
8 Lucky Foo Foo (Bet Now: $18.00) is a Lucky Street filly for the David Harrison camp that is having start one. Trial work hasn’t been as impressive as some of the other first starters engaged but it has been good enough to suggest she can run well even from a sticky barrier. Knockout hope.
Race 3. (17:05) Peaoplestart Handicap (72+) 1400m
8 Last Of The Line (Bet Now: $2.20) is a quality animal that is on the seven day back up for the Stephen Miller camp after resuming last Saturday here. He got back off the speed and worked home powerfully late when third to Cryptic Love. Better for that under the belt and up in trip, he appeals.
4 Tycoon Storm (Bet Now: $6.50) is running out of chances but she will be fitter for last start and a rise to 1400m is also a positive for her. That run two weeks ago was her first run in a month so she will improve. But I think needs to and is getting close to her D-Day.
2 War God (Bet Now: $16.00) is a son of War Chant for Neville Parnham that resumes. He is better suited as the prep goes on when he gets the miles into the legs but can pull out an okay run fresh from time to time and his recent trial to get ready wasn’t too bad to the eye.
Race 4. (17:50) Amelia Park Handicap (1MW) 1400m
1000m to 1400m isn’t an easy but do like the look of 5 Giant Leap (Bet Now: $2.10) with upside and progression to come. Team Williams trained gelding that resumed over 1000m here and worked home very strongly, just missing out on picking up Night Voyage in a blanket finish. If he’s close up on the turn, think he wins.
1 The Fugazi (Bet Now: $5.00) back to 1400m I see as a positive. Ran over the mile here two weeks ago when on speed throughout and fighting on strongly. Just couldn’t quite finish it off and had to settle for second to Ration Aly. He will look the winner at some stage. Just needs to attack the line.
10 Western Rhythm (Bet Now: $19.00) is eligible for much easier but she has the engine under the hood to run a positive race at odds. Last run came at Albany and she failed to fire a shot in a disappointing effort. Freshened up and thought the recent trial was quite good to the eye. One for multiples.
Race 5. (18:30) Schweppes Plate 1200m
Great to see 5 Magical Dream (Bet Now: $1.90) back at the races. Quality filly for the Williams camp that hasn’t raced since the early part of the Carnival when somewhat struggling on the wet track in the Champion Fillies. Comes here with no trial, but reckon she has a bit on these in terms of class.
6 Keep Your Feet (Bet Now: $4.80) is the one with race fitness on his side and he is racing as if he will eat up the 1200m. Ran over 1100m here last time out and worked home strongly to just miss out on the win when a narrow second to Our Danni. Needs luck from the gate, but is going super.
Think back to 1200m is a big tick for the Martin Allan trained 11 Hot Mix (Bet Now: $8.50). He ran over 1400m here last start and worked home okay, but just think the seven furlongs at this level saw him out. That’s why back to 1200m looks a positive and is a must for multiples.
Race 6. (19:00) Crown Sports Bar Handicap (66+) 2200m
Think 3 Treasured Crown (Bet Now: $4.80) deserves another chance. Adam Durrant trained gelding that was two months between runs when racing here a fortnight ago. Was wide no cover throughout and couldn’t finish it off, which was understandable. Better for that run and Pike takes over.
2 Lonsdale Lady (Bet Now: $4.80) has the right form on the board to give this a shake given she has contested blacktype company her past couple of runs, the latest seeing her close up in the La Trice behind Dance Music. Suited up in trip and appears one of the hardest to beat.
11 Winifer (Bet Now: $13.00) is eligible for easier but won’t have any issues with the trip and is one to include in multiples. Ran over this track/distance last time out and worked home well to finish third. Lacks the class of some of these but will stay and could sneak a first four spot.
Race 7. (19:35) Seacorp Handicap (1MW) 1000m
The safe option looks to be 2 Leica Jaguar (Bet Now: $5.00) for the Neville Parnham camp. Put together a couple of really sharp wins prior to racing here a few weeks ago where he had the suck run behind the speed before getting the split and driving hard, just missing out when a close up third to Night Voyage. That’s strong form for a race like this.
4 Prince Devoutly (Bet Now: $3.50) is a Team Williams trained gelding that resumes. This progressive galloper was really well placed when last in work, going through his grades at the Provincials. Looked sharp in a Lark Hill trial win a couple of weeks ago and looks a key winning threat.
11 Westernize (Bet Now: $26.00) is a son of Patronize for David Harrison that is first up and can prove to be a knockout chance. This four year old doesn’t have the best of winning strike rates but the form around him reads okay for a race like this and should get a cheap run from the good draw.
Race 8. (20:15) Miss Andretti Stakes 1100m
Think this race sets up perfectly for 2 Flirtini (Bet Now: $6.50) but it’ll be just a matter of how much start she has to concede. Freshened up since finishing down the track in the Scahill, backing up from a good effort in the Winterbottom. If she’s within range 400m out and Pike can weave magic, she likely wins.
3 Indian Pacific (Bet Now: $2.60) is an absolute beauty for Neville Parnham. Puts himself near the speed and tries very hard. That was the case in the Summer Scorcher two weeks ago, where he was ridden positively and showed good ticker late to fend them off. Harder here, but just so genuine.
8 Samizdat (Bet Now: $13.00) can be a big improver here for the Gangemi team. Trialled up very nicely prior to resuming in the Summer Scorcher. I was quite keen on his chances but I was a bit disappointed with his effort after seemingly getting a suck behind the speed. A win here wouldn’t shock at all.
Race 9. (20:50) Quayclean Handicap (72+) 1800m
10 Aberdeen Queen (Bet Now: $5.00) is flying for Lindsey Smith but the breaks just haven’t gone her way the past couple. Latest of those runs came in the La Trice where much like the start prior, she was held up at a vital stage and lost all momentum. If the breaks go her way, she can take this out.
9 Ration Aly (Bet Now: $4.00) is racing like 1800m will be fine for her. Ran over the mile two weeks ago where she hit a flat spot when initially asked to go but picked up and got better as the race went on to win, so 1800m is okay I think and her confidence is up.
7 Mr Kunafa (Bet Now: $14.00) is hard fit now and should just about be ready to show his best. He ran over the mile here three weeks back and lacked a turn of foot when asked but got going late and was good at the end. 1800m is ideal for him and has more upside than most.
