The Parks track at Morphettville will conduct a nine race card on Saturday for Oaklands Plate Day. The weather is fine, the track is soft (5) and the rail is out six metres from the 1000m-Winning Post; Out three metres for the remainder.

Race 1. (12:12) Thomas Farms (Bm84) 1000m
3 Pegasi (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has been super in two runs for Travis Doudle and is one of the hardest to beat. He’s had two runs back from a spell for the new stable, both coming at Murray Bridge. Tough on speed win fresh over 1200m before coming back to 1000m two weeks ago and he showed really good ticker but just couldn’t quite get there when a narrow second to Ocean Reward. Only has to hold his form to be around the mark.
5 Rodeo (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness for Team Jolly. Just looked in need of the run fresh her behind Howl before going to Murray Bridge where I thought she was there to win at the top of the straight but wasn’t able to finish the job and had to settle for a third to The Gov. Hard fit now, saves her best for the Parks track, she is getting close to D-Day.
2 Aadelad (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is one I can entertain for wider multiples. Francis/Kent trained gelding that resumed two weeks back at Murray Bridge where he was ridden with early intent, sitting on speed, and he tried his guts out but condition just gave way late in the piece, beaten just over two lengths by Ocean Reward. I think he’s a much better horse when ridden with a sit. If that eventuates, dangerous.
Race 2. (12:47) Galvanising Industries (Bm70) 1950m
2 Jaguary (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is an improver here for Travis Doudle. He is three weeks between runs since racing over 1800m on the course proper here when back near last in the run and made up solid headway without threatening behind Exalted Ruth, beaten 2.5L in a good effort. He tends to save his best for the Parks track and with a more positive ride, he’ll take beating.
4 Exalted Ruth (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is racing like 1950m will be fine and strikes a winnable race once again. Three weeks between runs since a strong win over 1800m on the course proper here, handling the bog track best and she was quite strong to the line, beating Silent Don, who won last Saturday to frank the form. Extra 150m no issue and the depth here isn’t overly deep.
5 Six Foot Song (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is an interesting runner. He jumps to 1950m after racing over 1400m at Murray Bridge two weeks back when near last in the run and while he was never a threat, he worked home quite strongly late in the piece behind Headphones, beaten three lengths. Prior efforts suggest 1950m is okay and with speed in the legs, he’s dangerous.
Race 3. (13:22) Oaklands Plate 1400m
6 Dubenenko (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks to have a bit on these IMO. If they were going to beat her, it was two weeks ago when she resumed at Murray Bridge but you can’t substitute class and she had it in spades on the field, with that getting her home. She has good room for improvement, up to 1400m…it’s a case of good luck beating her IMO.
2 Proven Correct (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should have no issue with the 1400m. Macdonald/Gluyas trained juvenile that ran second to Dubenenko in the race mentioned above from a fortnight back. He tried to go with the filly and tried his guts out but was just no match for him late. I reckon if he sits back and has last look, he can finish hard and be dangerous. But, does need to improve to beat the filly.
3 Solar Mist (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) commands respect for Aaron Bain. He resumed over 1300m at Balaklava where the market wanted him with confidence late and under a lovely steer from Opperman, he finished best and was quite strong to the line in winning. Off that win, he’ll eat up 1400m…can he beat Dubenenko? I am saying no, but I think he’s a lock to run top three.
Race 4. (13:57) Fleurieu Milk Company (Bm82) 1550m
3 Wild Imagination (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has found winning form and she can certainly go on with it, especially back to SA. Last start saw her lead throughout to win over the mile at Caulfield. She was there to be beaten but she found plenty under pressure to fend them off and get the job done. Back to SA, lands near the front and only has to run up to last start and think she wins again.
1 Oh Mo (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) saves his best for the Parks track and his best is certainly good enough to take this out. His last couple of runs have come at Murray Bridge, the latest being a fortnight back when back near last in the run and made up good ground without threatening behind Turf Decision, beaten just under two lengths. Back up in trip and back to his favourite track, he’ll take beating.
6 Easy Campese (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is an improver at odds. First run for John Macmillan came four weeks back over 1200m at Murray Bridge where the market said he’d need the run and that’s how it panned out when down the track behind Jacks On Ice, who won again last Saturday to frank the form. Might want one more but his best form from NZ does read very well for this.
Race 5. (14:32) Grand Syndicates (Bm68) 1400m
5 Another Ponzi (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is suited back to this level for Team Jolly and can bounce back big time. He ran over this trip at Caulfield three weeks ago where he did early work from a wide gate to land near the speed and that early burn told in the straight, finishing down the track behind Lounge Bar Rubi. Back to this level is a big tick and is hard to beat if there is petrol left in the tank.
6 Annihilate (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a three year old that is racing in super form for Chris Bieg. He put together a couple of sharp wins before going to Murray Bridge two weeks ago where I thought he was going to win but when placed under pressure, he wanted to lay in and pretty much threw away any chance of winning. If he brings his best racing manners, he’ll take beating.
2 Platform (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has run well here previously and I think has to be forgiven for last start. That came at Morphettville where he was hard in the market but he just struggled to pick his feet up in the conditions and was a bit on the plain side behind Exalted Ruth. First up run was super so I think he has to be given another look.
Race 6. (15:12) Peter Elberg Funerals (Bm68) 1250m
1 Trading Post (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should take beating against these for Cliff Brown. Victorian raider that comes here off a last start win at Pakenham back on May 18 when giving them a start and a beating in a dominant display. Tick over jumpout at Mornington to keep him up to the mark, he maps to get the A1 run in transit and gets in very well after the claim for a hungry Campbell Rawiller.
4 Cold Case (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Team Jolly since racing on the course proper here where he was game in defeat on the bog track, finding the line well but just missed out on the win when second to Rivkin. Good record on the Parks track and back on firmer footing, he’ll take beating.
10 Knightstown (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) finds it hard to win but gee he finds a winnable race for the Richards/Moyle camp. He ran over this trip a few weeks back at Morphettville when a fair way back in the run and did make up headway without threatening behind Rivkin. Backing him to win…yeah, fraught with danger, but this race has little meat to it, so he has to be respected.
Race 7. (15:52) Skycity (Rs0mw) 1550m
10 McCain (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is finding it very hard to win but is an honest customer for Michael Hickmott that is usually thereabouts. He ran last Saturday at Gawler on testing ground and I thought was a definite pass mark after getting back in the run, finding the line well enough without threatening when third to Portration. If he is within range on the turn, I think he’s going well enough to win.
6 Storm Hunter (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is one of the key chances. His recent efforts have come at the midweeks and he’s been more than competitive, the latest coming on June 28 over 1400m at Balaklava when off the speed and finding the line nicely enough to finish third Abit Rattley. Good record on the Parks track and up to 1550m, he appeals.
3 Orbital Express (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks extremely hard to beat for John Macmillan. Formerly with Jeremy Gask, her first run for Macmillan came at Murray Bridge two weeks ago over the mile and she was one of the eye catchers of the meeting I thought, worked home with real purpose late when fourth to France’s Boy. Likes wet ground, she’ll be strong late…hopefully can settle closer in the run.
Race 8. (16:27) Frank Camilleri's 90Th (Bm68) 1000m
1 Declared (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) seems a straight bat option for David Jolly. He resumed against the older horses three weeks ago on the course proper here and I thought did a good job on testing ground, far from disgraced in defeat when fourth to Danish Fortune. Back to his own age and firmer footing, lands near the speed, he’ll take beating I’d suggest.
5 Winning Revolution (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) doesn’t have the best of winning strike rates but he returns back to his own age and is knocking on the door to win again. Last start was over this trip at Murray Bridge a fortnight back where he got back off the speed and found the line well enough when second to Oracle Son. Not sure Parks will suit him, but if they go silly in front and he gets a drag into the race, he’ll be dangerous.
3 Oracle Son (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks like he has returned in pretty good order. Market said he’d need the run fresh at Balaklava and that’s how it eventuated when fourth. He then went to Murray Bridge and with the run under the belt, he was stronger to the line and more dominant in a strong win. He’s found winning form and he can certainly go on with it.
Race 9. (17:05) Furphy (Bm62) 1000m
2 Jean Valjean (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the likely winner if he brings his best. The query is can he bring his best? He resumes for the Clarken/O’Shea camp, having not raced since Feb 25 at Morphettville when producing an end of prep run when down the track behind the then in form Shirshov. He is a gelding that can sprint well fresh and has trialled up very well in readiness. He’s the one to beat with his best.
8 Rising Legend (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) will jump near the speed and give plenty of cheek. Thought he showed good ticker to win at the midweeks at Balaklava last time. He was near the speed and was there to be run down but he found under pressure and was strong to the line in winning. Good record on the Parks track, good racing style and will look the winner for a long way.
12 Lady Simone (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is capable with her best for Team Jolly. She ran two weeks back at Murray Bridge where she got just off the speed and just couldn’t get involved when down the track behind impressive winner Oracle Son. She has been a bit off the boil this time in but this race, as a whole, is weak, so she doesn’t need to improve much to be in the finish.
