15/10/2022 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Morphettville

The Parks track at Morphettville will play host to a nine race card on Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is soft (6) and the rail is out two metres from the 1000m-Winning Post; True for the remainder.

Good little 3YO race here. I was really taken by the maiden win of 3 The Great Baby (Bet Now: $4.80) at Balaklava last time. He did a bit wrong in the run but he put them away like a good horse and ran decent time. Tick over trial here last week was electric and I reckon a win here could see him potentially find a race during Cup Week. He’s promising.

4 Baby Alex (Bet Now: $2.80) is a filly with talent. Andrew Clarken trains this girl, who has been good in two career outings. Made a mess of them on debut at Murray Bridge before going to Gawler where she didn’t get the best of luck but that said, had her chance when third. Tick over trial was good and hopefully on a firmer deck, she can improve.

2 Super Sharp (Bet Now: $8.50) is racing like a rise to 1250m will suit. Both runs this time in have come over 1000m and for mine, he has just found the five furlongs too sharp, but each time he has found the line well enough, the latest behing Rockstar Meggsy. Like him up in trip and should be strong at the end.

I think a rise to 1950m is ideal for 5 The Map (Bet Now: $4.00). Ran last Saturday over the mile here on the course proper and was very one paced I thought after seemingly getting every chance. She has always looked a 2000m+ horse, so 1950m here is ideal and with upside, seven day back up, leaning her way.

2 Ichibansan (Bet Now: $2.45) has been up a while but it holding his form pretty well. Attempted to lead throughout on the Parks track a few weeks back and gave a very strong kick but was nabbed late by Trumpsta. I reckon he’s a better horse with a bunny to chase, so hopefully that eventuates.

Back to 1950m I find interesting with 1 Smiling Assassin (Bet Now: $6.50) but he certainly won’t be lacking fitness. He ran over 2400m here two weeks back and was brave in defeat after sitting wide for the most part of the race, finishing fourth to Sous Les Nuages. He is the class of the field and will be strong at the end.

12 Imbibe (Bet Now: $3.90) looks the one to beat. Team Alexander trains this filly, who resumed here five weeks ago in a maiden where she was chasing from the outset but she kept on and kept finding the line when second to Commander Meroo. She has a touch of quality about her. Majority of these don’t have that.

Back to 1250m I find interesting with 9 Free Vino (Bet Now: $7.00). He ran over 1550m here three weeks ago in a 62 where the race shape wasn’t suitable to him and didn’t look a winning threat, but stuck on well enough behind Merchant Boss. He ran third to Commander Meroo the start prior so he commands respect.

11 Tequila Sunset (Bet Now: $15.00) is in with a shout. This mare ran last week at Gawler at the midweeks where she was near the speed throughout and seemingly had her chance when a well held fourth to Grey River. Doubt she can win but she can fill a first four spot at a price.

1 Neodium (Bet Now: $2.90) is a horse that once he finds form, he generally holds it. They rode with intent three weeks ago on the Parks track, rolling to the front and once he found the top, he was never getting beat and was dominant to the line. He’s got room for improvement and I think will be better than last time. Hard to beat.

6 Maracourt (Bet Now: $3.90) should take beating. Dominant first up win at Murray Bridge before going here where he drew gate one and just got too far back in the run, but was good late behind Cool Magnum, clocking some of the better late splits of the race. If he can settle closer in the run and get clear air, he’ll be strong at the end.

9 Valentigra (Bet Now: $8.00) is a key threat. Market said she would run well fresh on the Parks track a few weeks back and that she did, battling on well from just off the speed when fourth to Scenic Host. That horse is talented so I think that is the key and right form reference for this.

11 Parisiene Monde (Bet Now: $3.70) has come back in really good order for Phillip Stokes and confident she can take this out. She has placed in both runs this time in, both over 1250m on the Parks track, the latest being several weeks ago when a closing second to Lafargue. Interesting with the rise in trip, but likely snags for cover and gets a soft trip.

7 Eminecia (Bet Now: $5.50) is knocking on the door to win. She ran over this track/distance two weeks ago where I thought Vorster gave her a peach and she was there to win but had to settle for a second to a promising animal, Stadium Of Light. The depth here, as a whole, isn’t as strong, so she’s hard to beat.

I reckon a rise to 1400m will be ideal for 2 Tupoleu (Bet Now: $7.50). His first run in eight weeks came over 1250m here three weeks back where they rode positively and he tried hard but condition just gave way late behind impressive winner Scenic Host. Track/distance winner and finds a very winnable race.

9 Big Shaq (Bet Now: $10.00) looks hard to beat for the Macdonald/Gluyas camp. He was very good on debut at Murray Bridge before going to Gawler where he was three and four wide for the trip yet kept finding under pressure, surged hard late and won well. He’ll park off a good speed and be strong at the end.

2 Beagle (Bet Now: $3.80) appeals. Team Freedman trained four year old that resumed at Moe where he was ridden like he was the best horse in the race and he duly was, winning nicely in a strong return. Stable rarely misfire when they come this way and they find Vorster to steer.

10 Lakehurst (Bet Now: $34.00) is an improver up in trip. Resumed behind Angel Like over 1000m on the Parks track a few weeks back where he did work from a tricky gate and just couldn’t quite finish it off late in the piece. Then went to Gawler where the track was testing and he was okay behind Deevine. Hard fit now in a thin race, he could be dangerous.

9 Keep Reading (Bet Now: $4.50) is finding it hard to greet the judge first, but really, he should have won three weeks ago on the Parks track. He loomed to win the race out wide alongside Daring Move but that horse wanted to lay out under pressure and took Keep Reading off its line. Really surprised there wasn’t a protest but no doubt in my mind Keep Reading should have won and I think the key to him might well be riding with a sit.

10 Daring Move (Bet Now: $3.30) has come back in really good order for Team Jolly. 2/2 this time in, winning a few weeks back on the Parks track and she was there to be run down but despite wandering about under pressure, she found plenty under pressure to win and win well. Good test here, but confident she measures up again.

5 Spanish Heirloom (Bet Now: $21.00) will land in front and give plenty. This mare is over a month between runs since racing at Sandown where she was a tired horse and failed to fire when down the track behind a quality mare, Asfoora. Back to this level, jumps on the bunny, she’ll give a sight.

13 Rockstar Meggsy (Bet Now: $3.70) is hard to beat despite taking on the older horses. Resumed two weeks ago at this track/distance where she took on her own age and gee she was sharp late in drawing clear under hands and heels to win and win well. Depth is thin after scratchings, so happy to be in her corner.

1 Calla Dream (Bet Now: $2.70) is a strong mare that resumes. She hasn’t raced since the Lightning here on the course proper when running out of her skin when second to Extremely Lucky, a quality sprinter. Trial leading in looked sharp to the eye and this is a weak race, so watch the market.

9 Lady Simone (Bet Now: $13.00) is a daughter of All Too Hard for Team Jolly that resumes. She hasn’t raced since June 29 when near the speed at Balaklava and battled on very well in defeat when second to Good Approach. She is a mare who can sprint well fresh and has trialled well leading in.

14 Scenic Host (Bet Now: $5.00) looks a really promising mare for Michael O’Leary and happy to be in her corner again. Was keen on her three weeks ago here and after a few hairy moments, once she got clear air, away she went and she was dominant. Tricky draw, but should get good cover and with a drag into the race, she’ll launch late and be strong.

12 My Khalifa (Bet Now: $6.00) is racing in very consistent form for the Richards/Moyle stable. He got a fair way back in the run a fortnight back here and loomed when he sliced his way through the field but just missed out on the win when a narrow second to Picargo. That was his first run since August 27 so you’d like to think there is room for improvement.

9 Point Blaze (Bet Now: $11.00) is an improver at odds. This mare resumed two weks back on the Parks track behind Sea Witness where she got back in the run and held up, not really being able to let down properly. Fitter and up to 1300m, with class, she appeals as a key chance.
