A nine race program has been set down for Eagle Farm this Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out five metres for the entire circuit.
Race 1. (11:23) Racecourse Village Hcp 1000m
1 Glorious Ruby (Bet Now:Β $2.30) is a quality filly for Bryan Dais that resumes. This girl had a four run prep in the Summer to start her career, winning two of four and running really well, her last run being a second to Sweet Dolly, a star local. Looked great in a trial last Tuesday and I think she’s ready to rock and roll.
3 Secret Tales (Bet Now:Β $6.00) is a daughter of Spill The Beans that resumes for the O’Dea/Hoysted camp. She had a three run prep in the Autumn, winning her last two, including a win over 1400m here. 1000m looks to be on the short side for her, but has trialled well and I think has a bit of quality.
5 Vienna Empress (Bet Now:Β $11.00) is a Melissa Taylor trained filly that comes to town second up after a first up maiden win at the Sunny Coast. Don’t think it was the strongest field she beat up but what I liked was the ticker she showed because she was there to be beaten but found plenty under pressure. Not sure she wins, but a first four threat.
Race 2. (11:58) Brc Membership Hcp 1000m
1 Legal Esprit (Bet Now:Β $2.45) is a beauty for Donald Baker and I’m confident he can measure up here given he is the one with race fitness on his side and he’s a winner. Simple as that. Four of five to start his career and he just loves to dig in when required. Gets the lead here and with the claim, he’s quite well in.
2 Gemelon Bolt (Bet Now:Β $2.50) is a son of Falvelon resuming for Chris Anderson. He has been kept on ice since March when down the track in the Aquis 2YO Jewel behind star filly Sweet Dolly. Like him resuming at 1000m and looks to be ready to go based on a Doomben trial win.
4 Mishani Sniper (Bet Now:Β $8.50) is a Les Ross trained three year old that defied a notable betting drift when winning on debut at Toowoomba. Despite having no friends in the market, I like the ticker he showed to knuckle down late and surge to win. Harder here, but should be strong late.
Race 3. (12:33) Mount Franklin Hcp (c3) 1500m
1 Samurai (Bet Now:Β $7.50) for mine. John Moore trained gelding that should love the step up to 1500m. Was 1100m to 1400m two weeks ago here and worked to the line strongly, just missing out on picking up Rock Amore. Hard fit now and up in trip, he’ll take beating I’d suggest.
8 Safeeya (Bet Now:Β $3.00) is a Lee Freedman trained mare that is racing well this time in. Three weeks between runs since racing over the mile at Doomben when on speed and tried hard. Just couldn’t quite see it out behind Magic Conqueror. Back in trip and from a soft gate, she appeals.
2 Indian Dreamer (Bet Now:Β $8.00) can be an improver. Resumed in the Rock Amore race from two weeks back here and given the race shape, he had no chance. Back near last in an on pace domination, he was never going to figure. Much better suited here I feel and can bounce back.
Race 4. (13:08) Country Music 10-11 Sept Hcp 1600m
3 Profit (Bet Now:Β $1.90) looks a near good thing. Was a few weeks between runs and stayed at 1400m when racing here two weeks ago and I thought given he was a fair way back in the run on a day where those on speed were not disadvantaged, he closed off well. Fitter and up to the mile, he appeals.
2 Matowi (Bet Now:Β $3.60) should love the step up to the mile for Chris Waller. Just missed out on the win fresh over 1200m here. He then went to 1400m behind Emerald Kingdom and as he has done previously, just raced a bit on the flat side. I am anticipating a third up bounce back.
1 Dissolution (Bet Now:Β $8.00) should be an improver. He resumed in the Emerald Kingdom race mentioned above where he paraded like he would need the run and that is how it panned out. He should take good improvement from that and gets to a more suitable trip. Knockout chance.
Race 5. (13:47) Sky Racing (bm78) 2400m
1 Warp Speed (Bet Now:Β $2.35) on top for me. Ran over 2200m here two weeks ago where I was keen on his chances. Seemed to get his chance, bit one paced when the sprint went on but he stayed on soundly in defeat behind London Banker, who won last Saturday. 2400m the query, but hard to knock the way he’s going.
5 Blacklog (Bet Now:Β $5.00) is on the seven day back up after racing over the mile last Saturday at Doomben. He was coming back from 2000m and worked to the line pretty well without threatening. Gets back up in trip and the stable are known to pull off a plunge, so watch the market with the interesting set up.
6 Puckish (Bet Now:Β $15.00) has been up a little while but is racing really well this time in. Good late two back at Toowoomba before going to 2200m here and I thought he was far from disgraced in defeat behind London Banker. The 2400m is no issue for him and I think he’s a knockout chance.
Race 6. (14:27) Xxxx Dry (bm72) 1200m
5 Lady Banff (Bet Now:Β $4.20) is bursting to win a race this time in for Matty Dunn. She ran over 1300m here two weeks ago where she was there to win but 1300m just sees her out and was beaten by a very much in form Eloquently. Back to 1200m and back to 72 grade, she appeals big time.
2 Jetski (Bet Now:Β $8.50) hasn’t been far away of late for the Sears camp and is knocking on the door to win one in town. Dragged back from the wide gate when racing at Doomben three weeks ago and working home with real purpose late behind Luskin Hero. If he can settle closer in the run, he’ll take beating.
7 Big Bad Bruce (Bet Now:Β $9.00) is three weeks between runs for Tony Gollan since racing over this trip at Doomben. He got back to near last in the run from the wide gate and I really liked the way he finished his race off behind Luskin Hero. He can sit much closer in the run and be strong late.
Race 7. (15:07) Spirit Of Boom (bm78) 1825m
3 I Could Do Better (Bet Now:Β $18.00) has got more upside than most and does have the Waller polish. He ran over this track/distance last Wednesday in a race where the race shape wasn’t his go, sit/sprint, but he stayed on and was good in defeat behind Spanish Point. Fitter and is a proven city performer.
2 Spanish Point (Bet Now:Β $6.00) won that race mentioned above and I thought it was a lovely ride from Mallyon. Lobbed into a lovely spot behind the speed before angling clear and the patience to let down was the winning move, drawing clear late. If he can reproduce that, he’s hard to beat.
Fitter and up to 1800m I do like for 5 Top Me Up Again (Bet Now:Β $34.00). Resumed over 1350m at Doomben three weeks back where he was near last in the run throughout and didn’t really make up ground, but wasn’t too bad behind Ulysses. His best is certainly capable of running well.
Race 8. (15:47) Mark Mazzaglia (bm85) 1200m
I’ll take a chance with 2 Run For Glory (Bet Now:Β $7.50), who resumes for Tony Gollan. Hasn’t raced since Feb 27 at the Sunny Coast where he was first up there and didn’t really fire a shot in a plain effort behind Doctor Zous. Two trials leading in have been strong and his best is good enough.
8 Whoboughtazou (Bet Now:Β $6.00) is a little while between wins but is knocking on the door. Attempted to lead throughout here two weeks back and gave a good kick from the front, only to be bloused late by a very much in form Triple Ace. He’ll give himself every chance near the front.
1 Brad (Bet Now:Β $8.50) is a star from North Queensland that has really thrived since arriving from NSW. Was with the Bannon camp for a while, but now has start one for Tim Cook and he decides to come straight to town with, and with the claim, I’d watch the market and see what it does.
Race 9. (16:27) Tab Venue Mode Hcp (c6) 1400m
2 Ulysses (Bet Now:Β $4.40) on top. Team Freedman trained gelding that is three weeks between runs since finishing best to win at Doomben, driving hard late nearer the inside to get up and win. Stable have had great success when having runners north of the Tweed and 1400m on the big track should suit.
3 Stuttering (Bet Now:Β $3.60) is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday at Doomben where he attempted to lead throughout and tried hard, running his usual honest race when fifth to At Witz End, who is low flying at the moment. Yet to win at Eagle Farm but has placed five of six runs. He’ll be around the mark again.
6 Take Tea (Bet Now:Β $18.00) gets much needed weight relief and I think she can be quite dangerous at odds. Just looked in need of the run fresh behind Snowzone before racing here two weeks ago where she had the big weight and battled on okay in defeat. Hard fit now, gets weight relief and is a two time winner at the track/distance.
