Race 1. (15:19) Gannon’s Racing Colours Hcp 1400m
5 Antique Star (Bet Now: $SP.00) is better suited over further but she has a touch of quality about her and confident she can resume with a really forward showing here. Her last run was Oct 25 over 2100m at Ascot, knuckling down with purpose late to wear them down. Fresh at 1400m I do like and has trialled up well enough to my eye.
3 Cold Shizzle (Bet Now: $SP.00) steps up to 1400m after racing over 1200m last Saturday in the Cyril Flower when off speed and while he was never threatening, he kept chasing and was pretty good late behind Almighty Class. Like him up to 1400m, he appeals against these.
4 Objectify (Bet Now: $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing over 1200m at Ascot when off speed and kept chasing with purpose in definite pass mark behind Elite Missile. Like her up to 1400m, I think she’s in the mix.
Race 2. (15:56) Tabtouch Westspeed Platinum Hcp 1600m
7 Naughty Tortie (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a key chance for Simon Miller after racing over 1400m at Ascot when off speed and worked home strongly in a driving go when a close up third to Slick. Racing well this time in without winning but does strike a winnable race against these.
8 The Spruiker (Bet Now: $SP.00) steps up to the mile after racing over 1500m on the home deck at Albany last time. He got off speed and was never really threatening but his finale wasn’t too bad in defeat. He has run well at this level before and the depth isn’t overly thin.
1 Defending (Bet Now: $SP.00) ran fourth to Forever Dreaming two weeks back at Ascot. He got into a decent spot near the speed and was there to win I thought but just couldn’t quite finish the job. Hoping for a positive ride and he’ll be around the mark.
Race 3. (16:36) Darling View Thoroughbreds Hcp 1400m
9 Elvira Star (Bet Now: $SP.00) is flying for the Witten camp and it’s hard to get away from her. Few weeks between runs since an impressive win at Bunbury, sitting just off speed before coming with a well timed run to get the job done. Good test here but confident she can measure up.
10 Monte Tremezzo (Bet Now: $SP.00) steps up to 1400m after racing over 1200m at Bunbury just under two weeks ago behind Prawns Eleven where she sat off speed and kept chasing but was never really threatening. Like the rise in trip for her and overall, this isn’t a deep contest.
4 Reginald (Bet Now: $SP.00) steps up to 1400m after resuming at Ascot three weeks back over 1200m where he found them too sharp when down the track behind Bohemian Diamond. Fitter and up in trip, he’s an improver at odds.
Race 4. (17:18) Duncan Equine Group Hcp 2000m
5 War Matters (Bet Now: $SP.00) is flying and has to be one of the hardest to beat after a win over 1850m at Mt Barker, getting better as the race went on and was impressive in the run to the line. Rising back up in trip, in a real purple patch, he rates highly against these.
4 Audio Boy (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday over 2200m at Ascot. He tried hard from off speed but couldn’t quite get there when third to Kimberley Rose. He’ll be strong late, just needs to be within range 400m out.
9 Pecos (Bet Now: $SP.00) steps up to 2000m after racing over 1900m at Albany last time. He got into a decent spot just off speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite get there when second to What A Prince. 2000m should be okay, he’s one for exotics.
Race 5. (17:58) Geisel Park Stud Hcp 1600m
6 Shamilian Miss (Bet Now: $SP.00) seems the straight bat play. Michael Lane trained mare that ran over 1400m at Bunbury last time when off speed and kept chasing with purpose in a pretty good effort in defeat. Like her up in trip, will be strong late…just hoping for a half decent steer.
5 Shazair (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a few weeks between runs since racing over 1675m at Bunbury where she seemingly had her chance but battled away really well in defeat when third. Honest mare that should be around the mark.
1 Rudhyar (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to the mile after resuming over 1400m last Wednesday at Ascot. He got back to near last in the run and while he was never threatening, he kept chasing and was pretty good in defeat. Not sure he wins but he can run first four at a price.
Race 6. (18:38) Thoroughbred Breeders Wa F&M Classic 1200m
Leaning the way of 3 Supernatural (Bet Now: $SP.00), that ran two weeks ago over this trip at Ascot where she got off speed and was never really threatening behind the in form Sonoftheboss. Pike is on and with luck in running, she’ll take holding out.
1 Golden Vale (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Simon Miller trained mare that resumes. She hasn’t been seen since May 10 when fourth over 1000m at Ascot behind Celestial Storm. She does seem to thrive best on the fresh side and 1200m fresh, to me, signals intent.
6 Galway Shawl (Bet Now: $SP.00) steps up to 1200m after a first up win over 1000m at Bunbury, giving them a start and a beating in an impressive performance and return to the track. Rising to 1200m, think she can measure up against these.
Race 7. (19:16) Magic Millions Wa 2Yo Classic 1200m
I do like 8 They’reallsisters (Bet Now: $SP.00) for David Harrison. Three weeks between runs since a dominant win over this trip at Ascot, getting better as the race went on, knuckling down with purpose late to win and win well. Pike takes over again, she maps to stalk the speed and be effective at the end.
9 Maria Lucia (Bet Now: $SP.00) was a dynamic winner on debut two weeks ago over 1100m at Ascot. She sat on speed throughout and was trucking before being clicked up and she was quite dominant in the run to the line. Good racing style and the extra 100m is fine.
13 Yamanex (Bet Now: $SP.00) ran third to Maria Lucia two weeks back in the race mentioned above. She was on debut and got back off speed, but kept chasing and was pretty good late in the piece. Maps to settle off the good speed and launch at them late.
Race 8. (19:53) Magic Millions Wa 3Yo Trophy 1200m
Forgiving a good horse for one bad run and going with 1 Heeza Phoenix (Bet Now: $SP.00) to bounce back. He resumed three weeks ago at Ascot over this trip when wide no cover on speed, doing far too much work, and tired late. Tick over trial was sharp…yes. the gate is awful, but hoping for an aggressive ride, landing on speed and proving hard to beat.
Was that 3 Twisted Steel (Bet Now: $SP.00) at Ascot a fortnight back or Black Caviar? My goodness, the arrogance of the win, throttled right down the last 100m by CJP…it was something else. He is so dynamic at the short course…can he stretch the brilliance to 1200m? If the answer is yes, he takes beating.
2 Country God (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Neville Parnham trained three year old that resumes. He last raced in the Placid Ark when placing behind Luana Miss, trying his guts out but had no answers for the brilliant filly. Just one soft trial for the return but will be strong late.
Race 9. (20:28) Pinjarra Classic Sun 22 Feb Hcp 1300m
8 Queen Aria (Bet Now: $SP.00) takes beating for mine after her effort over 1200m last Wednesday at Ascot. She got a mile out of her ground and was never a winning threat but did like the way she closed off, suggesting she’ll eat up 1300m. Pike sticks, will be strong late…keen.
4 Hey Pino (Bet Now: $SP.00) got too far out of her ground at Bunbury just under two weeks ago. She got back to near last in the run and while she was never threatening, I loved the way she finished her race off in defeat. If within range, she’s dangerous.
1 Chino La Diva (Bet Now: $SP.00) got back in the run last Thursday at Geraldton, against her usual pattern, but worked home pretty well late when third. She loves to roll on speed so if that can eventuate here, she’ll take running down.
