Race 1. (12:22) Thomas Farms (Bm62) 1100m
1 Alpha Flight (Bet Now: $1.25) has good upside to come and has strong form around him to give this a shake. He resumed over 1050m a fortnight back where he was on speed and looked to be trucking before being clicked up and he was hailed as the winner, but condition just gave way late when nabbed by Nishikado. Fitter, up to 1100m, he appeals.
8 Looks Like A Lady (Bet Now: $8.50) is the other with the solid race experience. Resumed in the race mentioned above behind Nishikado and worked to the line okay late without really threatening behind the Team Jolly duo. I doubt she turns the tables, but runs well regardless.
7 More Reward (Bet Now: $11.00) is I can entertain for exotics. She debuted at Murray Bridge back in May where she trialled up like a jet prior but didn’t fire a shot when beating one runner home. Given a break straight away and moved well in a recent trial. Down in the weights, it wouldn’t totally shock me if she won.
Race 2. (12:57) G.H. Mumm Mdn Plate 1100m
I think 13 Richana (Bet Now: $4.80) can make a winning debut here for David Jolly. This stable are well known for being patient with horses, and this girl is another case in point, having her debut as a five year old. She trialled last week here and to my eye, she looked to be absolutely jogging on speed when second. The depth here isn’t strong and she looks to have good ability.
2 Courageous Hearts (Bet Now: $7.00) has had numerous chances to break the maiden tag but has the runs on the board in terms of form to command some level of respect. Resumed at the midweeks at Balaklava and looked the winner when he loomed on speed but couldn’t quite finish the job when third to Saville. Placed in both runs at the track/distance, his best is good enough to take this out. Just want to see him improve from the resumption.
3 Lucky Blue (Bet Now: $7.00) is suited back to 1050m I feel. Ran over 1100m here two weeks back where he loomed to win when presented but couldn’t quite finish the job when fourth to Bubble Over. Threw the race away the start prior at Gawler, he can win without surprising.
Race 3. (13:32) Adl. Galvanising Indust.-Bm72 1600m
4 Kutayha (Bet Now: $7.50) is knocking on the door to win for Team Jolly. Ran a few weeks back on the Parks track when near the speed throughout and battled away really well in defeat behind a smart one and an in form one in Cashin’ Chex. Bigger track and up to the mile, he appeals here for sure.
2 Unlaced (Bet Now: $3.60) will jump on the bunny and prove hard to run down. On the seven day back up after racing last Saturday at Murray Bridge where she led at a crawl and was given every chance when second to So Say Angel. If there is an on speed pattern, she’ll take beating.
5 Robe Bay (Bet Now: $5.00) is a very interesting runner. She is an absolute rogue when it comes to going into the barriers, but once she goes in and races, she is talented. The key will be getting her into the gates. First up at the mile tells me she’s ready to go. so she’s a yard/market/barrier watch.
Race 4. (14:07) Spring Carnival At Morp (Bm68) 1050m
4 Howl (Bet Now: $4.00) has a tricky racing pattern but the engine he has under the hood is certainly good enough to take this out. He had a three run Autumn prep, running second fresh before being just fair his next two and was spelled. Trialled nicely enough to my eye and will be charging late.
3 Great Diviner (Bet Now: $3.20) could be on his way to Melbourne with a win here. Will Clarken trained gelding that resumes, having not raced since March 14 when an impressive winner over this track/distance. He’s a bomb fresh horse and has trialled up really well in readiness. Hard to beat.
11 Zarace (Bet Now: $5.00) is a greybeard but it’s hard to ignore the way he spanked them here two weeks ago. He was just off the speed in the run before being presented clear air and away he went, drawing clear to beat up an average bunch. Harder here, but have to respect the last start romp.
Race 5. (14:47) The Junction (Bm68) 1200m
9 Eyes Never Lie (Bet Now: $7.50) has come back in really good order and is clearly knocking on the door to win. She has placed in all three runs this time in, the latest being two weeks ago at this track/distance when back in the run and closing off well to run third to stablemate Pimm’s Party. If she can settle closer in the run, she’ll take beating, but is getting close to D-Day.
7 Chicago Storm (Bet Now: $2.00) is racing in super form. Arrogant, dominant win two back at Gawler before racing on the Parks track here three weeks ago when wide no cover for the trip but took the front and looked home, only to get run down late by Knightstown. Gate one, if the run hasn’t busted him last start, he’s hard to beat.
1 Solar Gale (Bet Now: $7.50) commands respect back to 68 grade. His last couple have come in strong 82/84 races and he has been far from disgraced after sitting on speed, the latest behind River Twain on the Parks track three weeks back. If he gets a cheap run on speed, he’ll take beating.
Race 6. (15:27) Murray Hughes/Hero Wind (Bm76) 2000m
It’s hard to get away from 8 Perfect Illusion (Bet Now: $4.80). He took a while to break through but he has now become a winning machine, winning two on the bounce. Bolted up at Gawler two back before a dominant win on the Parks track a few weeks ago. No reason why he can’t go on with it.
6 Miss Gobcain (Bet Now: $3.40) looks hard to beat once again. Ran over 1800m here a fortnight back where she made an absolute mess of them, sitting off the speed before being clicked up by Vorster and away he went, giving them an absolute spanking. The rise to 2000m should be fine and really, she only has to hold her form to just about take this out.
10 Dixie Whistler (Bet Now: $13.00) is flying at the moment for the Richards/Moyle camp and deserves a crack at Saturday metro level. She hadn’t done much early on in her career but she has won three on the bounce and each time she has been dominant. Good test here, but think she can measure up.
Race 7. (16:07) Spring Stakes 1200m
I’m very keen to see how 10 Agreeable (Bet Now: $5.00) goes. Formerly with Team Freedman, this mare is now with Will Clarken and this stable is the best in the business at improving a tried horse. She was very good in the early part of the Winter before being given a break and sent to Clarken. The trial last week was an outstanding piece of work and she’s here to rock and roll.
I’ve said for 6-12 months that 1 Behemoth (Bet Now: $2.20) is gone in terms of being a Group l horse. But, clearly he can win a race like this. Has used this as a springboard for the Memsie in the race and did close off well in the trial last week, but I have seen him trial better, and he’s not getting better re ability/upside. Clearly a key winning chance, but I’d rather watch than back.
3 Calypso Reign (Bet Now: $11.00) has residual fitness and is dangerous with an economical trip. He hasn’t raced since June 18 at Murray Bridge when finishing best over 1000m. He is dynamic when racing on the fresh side and moved well in a trial last week. Knockout chance for sure.
Race 8. (16:47) Furphy (Bm60) 1600m
11 Turfitt (Bet Now: $6.50) is a Richards/Moyle trained mare that is racing in solid form. Ran over this track/distance two weeks ago when off the speed and chased strongly when third to dominant winner Melody Man. Has that 1600m run under the belt now, which should hold her in good stead.
12 Miss Kermie (Bet Now: $14.00) is a mare with good upside/progression for Phillip Stokes. Tough maiden win two back at Murray Bridge before proving that was no fluke with a solid fourth to Prince Jofra after being near the speed. This isn’t an overly strong race and she’s heading in the right direction.
Fitter and up to the mile are two big ticks for 6 Monraaj (Bet Now: $61.00). He resumed three weeks back on the Parks track where he paraded like he would need the run and that’s how it panned out, running last behind Tupoleu. He’s hard to follow and trust with confidence, but has enormous upside.
Race 9. (17:25) The Fotobase Group (Bm60) 1100m
8 Ultimate Victory (Bet Now: $15.00) is flying for Team Blanch. Both runs this time in have come over 1000m here, the latest being two weeks ago when back near last in the run and worked home quite strongly late in the piece when third to Zarace. Seems to be a short course horse but I do think he’s racing like 1100m suits.
11 Miss Mucinni (Bet Now: $11.00) is capable with her best. David Jolly trained mare that ran here two weeks ago when back in the run and worked to the line well enough I thought behind dominant winner Zarace. She can be hit and miss, but I do think her best is good enough to take this out.
7 Pocket Rox (Bet Now: $17.00) is a heavy track winner so he’s in with a shout. Solid in defeat two back at Murray Bridge before going to Mildura where he got back and failed to come on behind Sixbysixtythree. Back on a track with genuine give, I think he’s good enough to threaten.
