Adam Page gives us his tips and selections for today’s racing at Moonee Valley racecourse and Walcha racecourse, view his tips.
Walcha Race Five: Number Four Master Danny
Trained by Neil Godbolt at Port Macquarie, this four-year-old gelding has always shown he has ability. Hadn’t really showed that until last start at Taree when he led and fought on well when finishing second behind runaway winner Nothin’ Leica Dame, who has franked that form by running a strong second earlier this week. Master Danny has drawn barrier six and from that alley, Robert Thompson can either lead or take a sit. The 59kg is a slight worry but at his best, he’d make mince meat of these.
Walcha Race Seven: Number Seven Zattero
This seven-year-old has had two runs back from a spell. First up, he worked home ok at Gosford behind Songbird Lane then bumped into Xaarmelody when making up good ground over the final furlong. Drops back in journey which is a slight concern, but the pace should be on for him and if he gets a nice trail into the race, watch for him to be rocketing home at the end.
Moonee Valley Race One: Number Six Almindoro
Arguably Australia’s best horse without winning a race, but that should change tonight. Raced against the best three-year-old stayers last campaign. He did finish second in the Norman Robinson on Caulfield Cup day and that is a Group three race. 1519m is not an ideal distance, but he ran a good race last start behind the next superstar in racing, Under The Eiffel. I think class gets this horse home tonight.
Moonee Valley Race Three: Number Seven Count La Za
Finally he won last start at Mornington and now that he has won a race, he can go on with it. He has shown ability since day one but just hasn’t put it all together until last start when he got momentum up before the home turn and kicked clear for a well deserved maiden win. Steps straight up to City class and I think that is a very good lead because David Hayes rarely sends them to town after a maiden win if he doesn’t think they can perform well. Not a strong race here and based on his racing style, he’ll lap up the 3000m.
